I have just been told they have published an article about John Hemming in which they name me. Both my real name and my user name.

Luckily for me I don't care. Luckily for me I decided long ago I would never put anything on line that I would be ashamed/upset/frightened for anyone else to read.

But for lots of people this would be a complete and utter disaster. People post really personal and sensitive stuff on this site about the worst times of their lives, looking for help and support. They must know that.

Note that they never bothered contacting me to find out which category I fell into.

So if anyone wants to start another wide eyed innocent thread - o I just don't understand why you all hate the Daily Mail so much!

Does this kind of thing help you understand a little more?

Pacific - absolutely, if even 10% of what Hemming says is true it is absolutely appalling, an attack on everything that makes us human and should be investigated and stamped out.

The problem I have, is that I have 15 years experience in 'the system' and have NEVER seen ANY evidence of systemic corruption as he alleges.

Yes, I have seen incompetence, heavy handedness, judgments that with hindsight that were wrong, SW who got right up my nose with their attitudes and refusal to budge from their initial positions.

But bounties paid to LAs to snatch babies? Women deliberately sedated to have their babies ripped from their wombs with the collusion of doctors, lawyers and judges?

Never, never, never.

And when we ask JH for his evidence, what do we get? A spreadsheet he has filled in himself. Talk of children as 'stocks' and 'flows'. A total inability to understand the difference between adoption targets for children already in care and adoption targets to snatch babies needlessly from loving homes.

I think Mr Justice Munby is absolutely right - we need more transparency and we need to let the sunlight in. The problem is at the moment, the only person mouthing off and getting prominence in the national press is JH.

That says a lot about our utterly debased journalistic culture. Maybe we get the journalists as well as the politicians we deserve.

^^That. With the priviso that the identities of the innocent are protected and the full force of the law is brought down on the heads of those who are careless or irresponsible and publish their names. Like say... on a very busy parenting forum.

Ihave just noticed the connect button on my twitter app.

I am staring at the screen.

Becuase I didn't know about the connect button, I had no idea until now that Zoe Williams (guardian) retweeted my synopsis link to her yesterday.

Knowing about that button 2 weeks ago would have been a big help.

And saved me HOURS of trawling my timeline.

O believe me i have been pressing the connect button!

It helps to some degree. But when i try to 'follow' a conversation via tweets it all gets very confusing. I only found out yesterday that Michelle Freedman had sent me several tweets and not just one.

Someone was saying there are different ways of 'viewing' Twitter? Tweet box? Have no idea.

I use Tweetdeck, mostly as it's good when you have multiple Twitter accounts. Or if I'm on the android tablet I use Plume.

The default twitter apps on my Windows phone and iPad are very different. I find both a bit laborious, but the iPad one does do a few things that desktop twitter can't do automatically, like "quote tweet" which is a C&P job on the desktop.

I do find it easier to keep up with conversations on my desktop, though, not least because I can have multiple windows or tabs open.

And yes, the connect button is quite useful :o

I also find the list function useful if I want to separate tweets out by topic. I have all my news, weather and travel twitter feeds in a big list that I can quickly consult before and whilst travelling. You can only add people you follow to a list, though, so it's not good for keeping track of people that you want to shake off as soon as you're done with a particular conversation.

Do you have an app on twitter to quote? Because I access twitter from the Ipad using the mobile website, not the app. And safari goes mad and shuts down everything most of the time.

Right, sorry, back in the game. There has been quite a lot of weather here recently, it's all a bit distracting.

The campaign group 38 Degrees are very good too. They stopped the sell-off of forests, the closure of Lewisham A&E and Maternity Units. Looks easy to start a campaign here. No reason why there shouldn't be two campaigns.

Would be good if the campaign was slanted to have wider, more general, more national appeal. Privacy/confidentiality/abuse of parliamentary privilege kind of thing?

at all the Twitter confusion! I've been using it for years on my personal account but all of a sudden I'm feeling like I've not been using it right! I'm very confused now. I have 2 accounts - a special, non-outing-myself account for MN uses which had barely been looked at until about a week ago & my real-life one. I have my apps on both the computer & my phone logged into my 'real' one & the internet page logged on to my MN account. I think I'd be too terrified of confusing the accounts if I had them accessible from the same app.

Petition sounds good. I've got no idea at all about these things but if someone can send me a link with a big 'sign here' box with lots of arrows pointing to it, I'll add my name!
