For all of you who don't understand the disgust with the Daily Mail...

Spero · 02/01/2014 17:57

I have just been told they have published an article about John Hemming in which they name me. Both my real name and my user name.

Luckily for me I don't care. Luckily for me I decided long ago I would never put anything on line that I would be ashamed/upset/frightened for anyone else to read.

But for lots of people this would be a complete and utter disaster. People post really personal and sensitive stuff on this site about the worst times of their lives, looking for help and support. They must know that.

Note that they never bothered contacting me to find out which category I fell into.

So if anyone wants to start another wide eyed innocent thread - o I just don't understand why you all hate the Daily Mail so much!

Does this kind of thing help you understand a little more?

I will link to the scum bags but only because I hope people might leave some 'helpful' comments about JH.

LDB - I use the default twitter app if I'm on my iPad. I haven't tried the browser version with safari (which apparently is a pain for developers to make anything work properly with) and I don't use it enough to have tried any 3rd party apps.

ouryve · 04/01/2014 15:53

And now I get you, about clicking links to twitter from elsewhere in Safari. I normally get to a log in page, after an eternity of twirly whirly page loading thingies and think stuff it and give up.

Yes accessing twitter from safari is a pain in the a*se... you're halfway through writing a tweet and the browser shuts off.. stuff like that! Must install the twitter app.....

AGnu

Bwahaha Sperpero in Italian would sound awesome.. It means 'waste'....

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 04/01/2014 16:23

Just a rehash with some key facts incorrect but it isn't going away is it, so yay

Spero · 04/01/2014 16:24

Ok, feel free to do whatever you want with this. I have no idea what I am doing.

DRAFT PETITION

If John Hemming MP wishes to continue to campaign for reform to the child protection system and to provide advice to vulnerable individuals, on the basis that professionals within the child protection system routinely tell lies in order to secure children for adoption and receive financial rewards for so doing, Mr Hemming should either:
a) provide evidence for his assertions; or
b) refrain from making such assertions; or
c) resign as a serving Member of Parliament forthwith

Jeeze reading a twitter 'argument' from the night before is possibly the most confusing thing I have ever done.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 04/01/2014 16:31

I'll never get those hours wasted back ! Xmas Grin

CarpeVinum · 04/01/2014 16:53

The MNBorg name for the Evil Cunning Genius of the "squished together two" (from now on referred to as STT, so we can write to them in order to give gravitas to all pur sweeping statements) is.....

CarpeSpes

Cos it works.

And it makes me happy that we turned around me being wolloped behind Spero like the backend of a pantomine horsie into something nice.

You all owe me this much.

Cos she got the good looking end.

Grin
LakeDistrictBabe · 04/01/2014 16:55

Spero

Copied and pasted that :)

I'll work on it after dinner :)

CarpeVinum · 04/01/2014 16:58

I'll never get those hours wasted back !

I did wonder how come everybody was tweeting fifty times faster than me. Hours I have spent reading messages about suasages etc. trying to see if anything was sent to me or retweeted.

AnyFuckerForAMincePie · 04/01/2014 16:59

Same 'ere Blush

confuddledDOTcom · 04/01/2014 17:01

Spero, are you thinking of making it a petition on the Number 10 website?

LakeDistrictBabe · 04/01/2014 17:06

@confuddled

What does the number 10 website have to do with change.org? Help, confused Confused

Spero · 04/01/2014 17:08

I have no idea. someone mentioned petition and I thought that sounded great - we can tweet it out to all our followers! I know there are various ways of doing this but I am not sure which, if any, we were going with.

confuddledDOTcom · 04/01/2014 17:14

I missed that change.org was mentioned. Number 10 has a petition page that saves people manually gathering a petition and carrying it to Downing St. All official and proper like, the PM has to answer them.

CarpeVinum · 04/01/2014 17:25

Do I still get to sign even if I don't live in Britian ?

PacificDogwood · 04/01/2014 17:26

Ooooh, Nr10

Do I get to sign even though I am a forriner? I am resident here and pay my taxes here...

PacificDogwood · 04/01/2014 17:28

Life got all complicated today: visitors! People to visit! Guinea pig information gathering mission!

May need to catch up later.

All your chatting about Twitter is really not tempting me to try it, what with 'connect' buttons and multiple screens and difficulties in following conversations and The Borg and ShaggingSheep Grin.

confuddledDOTcom · 04/01/2014 17:28

Carpe, can you live with someone for 10 minutes?

It is the downside of the #10 petitions but it does get a response. At 10,000 signatures someone from the relevant office has to respond and at 100,000 (if they haven't decided to take action at 10k) they have to have a back bench debate on it.

Yes, because that's the same for me Wink

And furthermore, it is time that us forreinnerrs get mentioned for something different from the benefits squabbles.. AH!

Carpe Yes, in fact I'll gather a few American signatures too. I've to add that some American ladies commented "Of course we'll sign to see the resigns or we send Pier Morgan back" Grin

Spero · 04/01/2014 17:51

I think the No 10 petition you can only sign if you give a UK address but don't know about the others
