one i did report was a very obese man who claimed dla...he had a gastric band fitted...lost loads of weight but still laughed how he was claiming dla high rate care and mobility,he called the dwp a load of idiots who could be fooled.... but was feeling much better in himself....needless to say a few weeks after i reported him his mobo car was off his drive.....

The Joseph Rowntree Foundation publishes each year something called The Minimum Income Standard which is based on a survey of what members of the public think a household budget should cover to reach an acceptable minimum standard of living.

In 2011, the JRF estimated that a single person needs to earn £15k before tax to reach the Minimum Income Standard to cover all their outgoings including housing. If that is correct then someone on benefits with no special needs should receive about £12k per annum.

Minimum wage is currently £6.08 per hour and assuming a 7.5 hour day and a 48 week working year that is £10,944. That is sometimes topped up with tax credits and other benefits of course but you can see why some people feel benefits claimants get too much compared to people who work.

These figures are where the rubber hits the road and interesting to see the JRF survey confirms what people really feel is a 'fair' income.

oh i do know when i hear from the horses mouth how they brag that they have fiddled a system....fiddled a system that unfairly treats mothers of children with disablities/ unfairly knocks back ppl who are genuinely ill and need and support...i have every reason to be angry...

i really cant understand ppl like you....who on one hand has to try and fight for everything for what their child is entitled to..yet on the other be so lacsidaisical towards benefit fraudsters...without these shower of shits..the world would be a better place....you wouldnt have to fight for what your child or relative deserves

A 0.5% fraud rate is not why people like me have to fight so hard.

The only shower of shits are the politicians who say that they need to cut DLA claimants by 20% when they know that at the very most the fraud/error rate is 1.9%

What is puzzling is the genuine clamaints seem to be defending the fraudulent claimants - why - if there is beneft hatred is is because of perceived fraudulent claim? Surely the geunine claimants ought to be the most vociferous propoenets of reproting fraud!

If I knew somebody was defrauding the system I would bloody well report it - fact is though I don't - unlike just about everyone who thinks these benefit cuts are a great idea!

AND I would rather a small minority defrauded the system than see those genuinely in need struggling. But channels exist for reporting fraud and should be used.

doormat - are you for real? Anyone with a disabled child knows what it is to fight the system. It's all we bloody well do for our children or ourselves.

Don't kid yourself that any money saved from tackling fraudsters will end up in the pockets of those genuinely in need because it won't.

I think fraud needs tackling but the planned cuts are not about tackling fraud - they are about saving money - end of. And stuff those who suffer as a result - that would be the poorest and weakest in society by the way. Nice.

as for the govt, even local dont even go there with me...they are all bastards with the same agenda to cut from the needy/ when my ds was alive i had to have a bowel resection...dh couldnt take time off work, if he did he faced the sack...i approached ss to ask for respite for ds as he needed 24/7 care...i never even had an hour respite or asked them for nothing....i was knocked back, i had to fly my daughter over from abroad to look after ds....paid for by me and dh.....ss didnt want to know....this is not a new phenonemon, this happened back in 2005...under labour, with a local labour govt....conservative labour all the same to me another shower of shits
