What do you think of the pictures of David Cameron drinking Guinness at 3.30pm in the afternoon, with new baby daughter in the room?
Responsible parenting?

I know someone who was recommended to drink half a pint of Guinness every day when she was breastfeeding. I don't think the police would have been round hers.

jacster33 · 09/10/2010 09:46

Obviously he's not doing anything illegal..
He's the PM..is he sending out a responsible message to dads?

I had a drink at lunchtime once.

Miasma · 09/10/2010 09:52
Confused

It seems an entirely normal thing to to. I can't imagine what is relevant about the baby beig there. Was he sharing it with her ?

sfxmum · 09/10/2010 09:53

of all the things to object about him...Hmm

PoorlyConstructed · 09/10/2010 09:57

Oh dear, David Cameron had a pint in the afternoon with his baby in the room. Shock

I think call me Dave is a shiny faced git and I'm usually delighted to take the piss, but come on! This is a perfectly normal thing to do.

ValiumSingleton · 09/10/2010 09:58

More worried about the message he's sending out that single mothers deserve to find life tough.

vesela · 09/10/2010 09:58

???

I think she's young enough not to work out what he's doing.

orienteerer · 09/10/2010 09:58
Biscuit
claig · 09/10/2010 09:59

with the mess that Labour bequeathed him, I'm not surprised he needs a stiff drink

amidaiwish · 09/10/2010 09:59

are you worried he might turn the baby into an alcoholic?

i don't get it.

RandomMusings · 09/10/2010 10:02

and you registered especially on MN to tell us this, hmm?

ayjayjay · 09/10/2010 10:03

I never thought I'd find myself sympathising with David Cameron but really what's the problem.

There's a world of difference between having a drink to unwind and being too drunk to look after a newborn. I'm sure he knows his limits and wasn't putting the baby at risk.

Anyway perhaps he and Sam have an arranagement where they do one day on one day off or similar. Maybe he wasn't expected to be solely responsible for his DD that day? With our 12 wk DD on the rare occasions that I drink then DH won't and v.v. so there's always someone sober to look after her.

Are you suggesting that no-one should ever drink any alcohol in the same room as a newborn, that seems a bit excessive?

is this another case of PC gorn mad?
thank God David Cameron is indicating that he will turn things around by being photographed with a glass in hand at every possible occasion. Sense has been restored and the country can relax, knowing that it is back in safe hands again.

grumpypants · 09/10/2010 10:08

It looks less like GUiness and more like decaff Frappucino decanted into a pint glass Grin

RandomMusings · 09/10/2010 10:08

answer the questions please OP

thank you

SkippyjonJones · 09/10/2010 10:08

Don't care about the Guinness but he is an arse anyway.

Panzee · 09/10/2010 10:11

Agree with grumpypants. If that's a Guinness he's drunk it before it's settled!

fsmail · 09/10/2010 10:12

I could understand if he was standing over the baby with a fag in hand blowing smoke over her but if it is bad to have a drink while babysitting I should never have grown up because all our babysitters were supplied with lots of the stuff by my DP as a pay off.

jacster33 · 09/10/2010 10:14

The PM is a role model, no?
We have a problem with drinking and binge drinking in this country.
Is having a pint in the afternoon of a working day sending out the right message?
One often leads to two etc?
And will dad's think: "The PM does it, so it's ok for me"?
Does it impair his judgement with regards looking after his newborn?
What do you think?

What do you think?

pay MN for this under media requests or bog off.

claig · 09/10/2010 10:16

He's an adult and he sent the nanny state packing

SkippyjonJones · 09/10/2010 10:16

I can't imagine he looks after the newborn, wheres the nanny ? Outside having a fag maybe ?
