my friend was murdered when I was 16 (she was 17) and I can honestly say it tears a family apart. I watched her parents literally disintegrate before my eyes. They did stay together in the end. I hope rory's family and friends get proper counselling

I am on annual leave at the moment and don't know much. I listened to the news and a psychlogist was analysing the M.O (modus operandi) and I have to say I agreed with his thoughts - i.e - no obvious signs of violence - was it somebody Rory knew. The cause of death - asphyxiation (don't know if spelled properly)appears to be non-violent/passive (I say that in the loosest sense) Also I was very surprised that there were no signs of sexual assault, which was my initial thoughts - Thank God that is the case.
I have great belief in my colleagues and am VERY confident that this monster will be caught, hopefully very soon.

Jampots - Rory's family have seperated, I think very recently and this was featured early in the enquiry, that Rory was still upset about this. How must they be feeling now!!!!

jampots · 24/08/2005 21:15

Oh no I didnt realise that. Poor souls = all of them

KAZ09 · 24/08/2005 21:17

Are you comfortable speaking about your friend's death

jampots · 24/08/2005 21:17

yes - it was 20 years ago now

KAZ09 · 24/08/2005 21:18

What were the circumstances - Did they ever get the murderer?

kid · 24/08/2005 21:19

DH's uncle was mudered in 1984, his family have never really got over it. It didn't help bumping into the killer on the bus after he served 9 months in jail.

Even when a child dies naturally its so hard for the family to deal with, let alone when a child is murdered.

jampots · 24/08/2005 21:20

yes. she answered an advert for a model which he had placed in a local Post Office. She was out of work and the money offered was good. She only told her dad. He was 49 and he hung her.

KAZ09 · 24/08/2005 21:20

9 months!!!!!!!!!! Was he insane or something

jampots · 24/08/2005 21:21

9 months?

KAZ09 · 24/08/2005 21:21

Sorry jampots don't want to sound daft - did you say your friend's dad murdered her

kid · 24/08/2005 21:22

they turned it around to manslaughter, said it wasn't premeditated. Well, the fact that he went and got the murder weapon and then returned to the flat makes it premeditated if you ask me. His poor mum had been through so much.

Charlee · 24/08/2005 21:22

I cant contemplate how somebody could kill another innocent human being let alone a child. its so sad that little boy had his whole life beofre him ,its so sick, i wish that who ever did it there concience gets to them in the end, its the best punsihment.

jampots · 24/08/2005 21:23

gosh no. The man who placed the post office advert, an amateur photographer who was apparently well liked locally and used to advertise and photograph ladies quite a lot

KAZ09 · 24/08/2005 21:23

do you know if he had any previous convictions? Does the murderer still stay locally

jampots · 24/08/2005 21:23

i agree charlee

kid · 24/08/2005 21:23

I think killing the muderer lets them get off with it too easily. Not sure what punishment they should get, maybe let the victims family deal with them.

jampots · 24/08/2005 21:24

dont think he had previous and he was sentenced to life but hey that was 20 years ago now so is probably out. My dh was her boyfriend at the time - he would kill him if he found him

KAZ09 · 24/08/2005 21:25

Jampots - So sorry , I'm a bit thick and still in annual leave mode - what happened to the B***d

jampots · 24/08/2005 21:26

sorry i think i answered for kid earlier

kid · 24/08/2005 21:27

Dh's family got a tiny bit of justice in the end. The killer ended up being killed himself and they didn't catch anyone for it. He was pure evil.

KAZ09 · 24/08/2005 21:27

I think the United States have the best system. Put the victim's family in front of the judge, jury, suspect, suspect's family and let them tell all - What their life has been like since the incident and that it will NEVER be the same again. This should also happen in Sexual cases.

kid · 24/08/2005 21:28

the muderer did stay local, until he was sent back to jail for another incident. In the trial it turned out he had been up to no good for years before the murder so he should have been in jail years before if only he had been caught.

KAZ09 · 24/08/2005 21:29

The British system is so so so wrong
