Oh the poor little thing. There should be a death penalty for those monsters who kill children.

SaintGeorge · 21/08/2005 19:29

BBC news .

I echo your sentiments colditz, but as yet there is nothing to say he has been murdered. It could be a case of a tragic runaway killed by the elements.

jamboure · 21/08/2005 20:44

DH and I were on one of the search teams today.

We were deployed in a different area though than the wee man had been found

What kind of sick evil bastard can do this to a child??

WHY???????????????

We went to lay flowers tonight so so so sad, livingston is horrible at the moment, police presence very high as you can imagine. These guys are working flat out to get the bastard that done this.

FUCK SAKE HE WAS ONLY YEARS OLD!!!!!!! WHY???????????????

sorry about the language folks I feel so much anger and hatred right now, what gives a person the right to take a life and one so bloody young?

The elemants here arent so bad to have killed him i dont think.I live 10 mins away from where he disappeared,he was found about 1 this afternoon in woods just off a footpath close to his school where he had been dropped off.
Jamboure who started this thread was out in a search party today with her husband and many others.Of course no-one has yet confirmed it is rory or how he died but they have now called off the search for him so i suppose that in itself confirms it was him.
So very scary and so very sad for his parents.

soapbox · 21/08/2005 20:50

Reading between the lines I think it is possible that he committed suicide, but only speculation on my part.

Whatever way it is a tragic loss of a life yet to be lived

At the moment it seems like speculation, none of the reports in the news have mentioned cause of death.

Terriblly sad

jamboure · 21/08/2005 21:07

suspicious circumstances they say.

looks more like murder

was at asda tonight to buy flowers to lay and they had been told to take down ALL posters now.

A member of Rory's family was also on the search today and found out the same time as us

Iam a Police Officer and am off on leave at the moment - I live 5 minutes away from the scene, and my husband has been up to the scene and came back visibly upset.
There are still no suggestions yet that this is a murder, the police always use the word "suspicious" when a body is found outside. I have felt physically sick all day and cried later on thinking about the "wee soul" , his family, and my collegues.
My god it hits home when something like this happens so close to me and my family.
I just wish the "cause of death" was known.
Tomorrow should being the facts..

expatinscotland · 21/08/2005 23:42

Gawd
It's all over the news here. So far, not much info out. That poor family! No one wants their baby to be cold and alone. Hope they get some answers soon.

Janh · 21/08/2005 23:46

Oh

I'd been hoping all along he would turn up.

KAZ09 · 21/08/2005 23:50

Me too. What do we say to our kids. I's saying nothing meantime. My 4 yr old ds knows there is a young boy missing, but how can I now explain this!!!!

expatinscotland · 21/08/2005 23:52

Maybe wait until there's more news to say anything to your child, kaz. It's all so incredibly shocking and tragic.

KAZ09 · 21/08/2005 23:54

It sure is. I wonder what the teachers at his school will say tomorrow to the other pupils. I don't think I will sleep very well tonight. I believe he just recently lost his grandmother so the only good thought i have is that he will be with her now. God I'm crying as I type this!!!!

expatinscotland · 21/08/2005 23:55

The news reports all say he was unhappy about going back to school. Was he being bullied? We have a wee boy at the uni where I work from Inverness who had to be pulled out of school and home-educated due to bullying.

KAZ09 · 22/08/2005 00:02

Don't know whether he was being bullied, although I suspect so. His mother (who is a primary school teacher) and father have recently split up, and his best friend has just moved from the school, there was also a suggestion that he had a girlfriend who had split up from him, and as I say his grandmother has not long died - God his poor parents, especially his mother, how must they be feeling, eh. She has probably forced him to go to school, as would any parent stating "it will be alright once you're there"

expatinscotland · 22/08/2005 00:13

Aw, Kaz! I never thought of it like that. I've worked with youth a lot, and learned to listen to them and their concerns. It's often hard for some to express themselves, but there are other clues, especially when it comes to things they don't feel comfortable admitting like bullying, pressure to have sex or take drugs, etc.

KAZ09 · 22/08/2005 00:26

That's the big mystery meantime - Was this poor kid murdered (for the love of god I hope not, or we're moving away), or did he take his own life. We should hopefully know more tomorrow.
I'm off to bed to try and get some sleep. G'night

sparklymieow · 22/08/2005 00:44

Kaz09, My son was 4 when Holly and Jessica were killed, it was all over the papers and news (as we will all remember) I explained to him that there is some bad people in the world that hurt children, but he wasn't to worry as its very rare. He accepted that. Recently a 5 year old died at a local school after choking on her school dinner, and DS asked about it (he is 7 now) and I said that accidents sometimes happen and again it is rare for it to happen.
When the London bombs went off, he was very aware of it, and because we use Russell Square station a lot when we go to Great Ormond street, he was very worried about using the trains and tubes, but we sat down and explained it all to him and said that it will be safe to travel again. I have found that being truthful is better with DS because otherwise he hears things at school anyway, which are often wrong.

KAZ09 · 22/08/2005 00:50

Yeah I agree. It's really strange. I work in Child Protection and the amount of parents that thought they had educated their children "Not to speak to strangers" and low and behold these sinister men have used their sick skills to "groom" the kids. It's a SAD SAD world out there. I will see what tomorrow/today brings then explain something to my son. Thanks

Toothache · 22/08/2005 09:26

This is just so awful. That poor lad and his parents. We were at the park yesterday and there were "Missing" posters up everywhere. I found myself looking at all the young boys to see if he was there. Got home to discover they'd found his body.
