Just a quick question everyone on here.

How long have you followed Flylady and how has it changed you and your house?

I have been following for 6 months and before I couldn't keep on top of anything neither come i work out how to. My house was always a mess and i was embarrassed when anyone came over. Now even if i havn't done anything that day it is never too bad.. I never have a dirty house just maybe a basket of ironing around and a few toys hanging around. I love the system and enjoy the tasks and missions

Makingchanges · 08/06/2010 16:12

Afternoon all

I could have sworn I posted on here earlier. I came on at lunch and read Dylsmums post - Must have got distracted.

Been quite busy today - its DD's last day off with me so lots of playing - we have been tinkerbell and snow white, done some jigsaws and are in the process of making a star and moon mobile. However she is currently in trouble for spilling ribena all over my cream carpet after I don't know how many warnings - this is why I don't normally buy it!!

Jobs done

  • 2 x washing
  • Tidied up lounge
  • found weigh-in tracker for tonights weigh in - if I get my car back in time
  • played, played and played some more
  • found some more notes for sign language revision
  • tried on new sports bra - I am rather full up top and was advised by a personal trainer at the gym to try enell bra's for my running (I think she was thinking about health and safety - anyway ordered and came and I couldn't get anywhere near fastened (this was after I'd had to get DH to measure me as they don't come in normal sizes) anyway - done some internet searching and apparently this is normal so that they are the best fit possible - and was advised to lay on the bed to fasten and it worked - yay - cue much jumping and running to test out and it is fab - I'll just have to remember to put it on before I go to gym otherwise I'll be lying on gym floor wrestling with my chest

to do

  • tea - homemade Weightwatchers chicken tikka - so tempted to open a jar but promised I would give these receipes a try.
  • Make Weightwatchers minestrone soup for tomorrow
  • more revision
  • pictures - I am currently reprinting some of our wedding photos and replacing some old photos - its taking ages as printer isn't printing right
  • sort fridge out to check on use by dates

Back later

Afternoon all, Sorry can't catch-up with you all.
MickyLee I've been on this thread for a about a year and a bit. I can't say I really 'fly' as every week throws up something new & working part-time throws a spanner in the works too. (+ I'm lazy) But posting my list on my days off gives me a bit of MN without losing the day to the internet.
P.S You were very brave to help your SIL the other day. I am unaware of your family circumstances but I understand it could be very tricky. You were quite right to go with her for her safety & respectabilty.
MC You really are good at going to the gym I keep making excuses.
Right back in a mo with an evening list!

OP posts:
Nuttybear · 08/06/2010 16:48

MC grinning at you needing to lay on floor to get your bra on

Micky I have been flying on and off for 2 -2 1/2 years I think? I started after I began my degree and my house fell apart. I had always been a bit ocd and cleaned lots, but when I began studying I didn't have any as much time and began getting stressed. Found FLY and the routines and focus has helped me to stay (almost) on top of things. This thread also helps lots as I am slightly competitive and love to post a list and see how quick I can finish it

GO who are you hiding from- we can see you

Makingchanges · 08/06/2010 19:28

Nutty - I'm not as good as you think - I've not been since Saturday (although I have had no car so thats why really) - some weeks I go 3 times and some only once - I think if I wasn't doing race for life I won't be going half as much.

Been to weigh in and lost a pound - I'm shocked as I had a McDonalds, 2 x frankie and Bennys and a pizza over the last two weeks whilst we have been doing half term day trips I guess the running and weights are helping me.

MickeyLee I have been flying for about 6 months I think. I'm not very good at it and only sometimes look at the missions - It gives me structure otherwise I could easily waste my day doing nothing.

List update - Only done pictures - DH was not inpressed with one as it was at christmas before he lost his weight - I've told him its staying until I get another nice one of me and him chicken tikka is marinading - forgot to buy curry powder so its taking longer than I thought - knew I should have opened a jar

Off for a shower, make tea and do revision

grouchy come in and join us - how are you?

scattyspice · 08/06/2010 20:06

Hi grouchy .

MC I have been flying (inconsistantly) for about 2 years . Like nutty I find it quite hard to fit in around work (but getting easier as dc get older). I rarely do a mission , but concentrate on the weekly house bless (which usually takes me all week) and laundry.

List:
floors - done
dust - tomorrow
bathroom - tomorrow
post bd card - mum. - need stamps

Friend stopped by for cuppsa after school , so didn't get as much done.

Wolfcub · 08/06/2010 20:10

hey all

huge hug for grouchy ohm positive thoughts for the family of the little boy from school

micky not sure fly lady has changed much, have been following on and off for nearly 4 years. I think it's changed most in the sense of having the people on this thread for support and also in terms of doing things in small bits and not striving for perfection. I am the sort of person who needs to clean the whole house from top to bottom to feel like I've cleaned. I find this exhausting which puts me off doing it and i get dispirited and give up. BEing on this thread for 4 years has helped me to realise that even doing something small is an achievment and I don't have to do the whole house at once

Nuttybear · 08/06/2010 22:14

Well said Wolf

Grouchy hi there, good to see you
Hi all
It's late, we have just got this new modem up and running so am back online after brief interlude!
Mickey I have been flying for just over a year and a half on this thread, don't always manage the flying bit but always stay with the thread as it's brilliant!
BB tomorrow

swanriver · 08/06/2010 23:10

ML I think it's just nice to see what others get done
sometimes I feel relieved to just be me and do not much - rather overwhelmed by the efficiency/productivity of others at times,
but it is a v.good wake up call

everyone on here inspires me in different ways I can safely say in sentimental tones

however, today I have done no real cleanng and feel a bit dispirited, at least I know HOW I could get things straight if I could be [bothered]atm.

dentist trials today with dd, shan't say more, living parallel life on other cleaning thread
OFM yes party v high spirited, freely flowing mead etc, 13 kids, and 16 adults and hardly any family members although my dad turned up unexpectedly for the party. A real bonding session for godparents and godchildren though, some of whom hadn't seen the kids for ages. Children had a fantastic time all playing on climbing frame running around too, and no adult intervention necessary Church felt like home, that's the best part of it really for me to know kids have grown up in this area and are so familiar with everyone and everything.

MickyLee · 09/06/2010 04:57

EVERYONE It is great to hear about your flylady history. Do any of you keep control journals?

Been up since 5.30 with DS.. I really need black out blinds.

My father is coming to stay for a week on Sunday so i am tryig to get the house perfect for when he comes.. not for him but because he is here for a holiday and i won't be doing anything all week once he comes. I know the it will be less to do once he goes.

So today my flight plan is-

Cook breakfast
Clean up breakfast
Wash bedding
Clean balcony
Get dressed (had a bath last night so not bothering to shower)
Get Dc washed and dressed
Hang out bedding
Wash kitchen curtains
Wash kitchen window
Re-hang wet curtains to dry
Friend coming round for playdate and coffee
Mission
Ironing
Cook dinner
Clean up dinner
Wipe out oven
Bath DC
Books to DC

Morning

swan Your party sounds lovely . We went to the vilage Baptist church when I was growing up, as a family we were very involved, Mum and Dad had both been linked to the Chuch as children themselves and had grown up with most of the other people in the church. There were lots of family activities (picnics, jumble sales, working parties for this and that) and informally we hung out with the other families alot too. It was a great way to grow up. Sadly we moved away from the area when I was 12 and never really settled into the new church in the same way. I often wish I could provide a similar environment for my kids now.

Anyway.

Today:
Beavers/Rainbows
dusting
laundry
buy stamps/get cash
post Mum's card

swanriver · 09/06/2010 09:17

Scatty ironically I never did any church activities as a child, nor did we go to church, ever! Although nominally Catholic. Though I suppose we learnt hymns and prayers from our (Protestant)school. We have some lovely Baptist ladies nearby who used to have a special Bible club my children went to (although they became too frail to run it) Perhaps Baptists have a special gift for involving children and families. We learnt such a lot from them.

Anyway today I am going to try and be a bit more organised.
To do
yest work this morning in school
piano practice for lesson (!!!!) had row with dh about piano being in wrong room this morning
insterspersed with recycling, rubbish kerbside
list three coherent meals from fridge which is stuffed with food but somehow we never have anything to eat
MAKE THE BEDS
organise window cleaner??????

ML yes know what you mean, cleaning is to get ahead from than to impress!

wendyhappysmile · 09/06/2010 09:52

swan what room is your piano in? May have to move ours soon to make way for the computer desk (currently our fourth bedroom is the computer/study room). it's under the stairs at the minute, but we have a through living/dining so it will have to go in there! Pesky third baby causing trouble already
Feeling very tired, didn't sleep well. Everytime I roll onto my back I wake up in a panic as I know it's not really allowed! And the strange dreams of pregnancy have started - anyone else suffer from these when pregnant?
Meant to be going swimming. I have stopped my lessons since pregnant (felt so rough) and haven't plucked up the courage to go swimming yet on my own. My pool is in a gym so there is no deep end so that's not scary - I can swim breaststroke now and that's it! Will have to go back after the baby is born.

Morning all

Just marking where I am really - Off for running practise at the gym this morning - see if I can break 3 minutes in one go (i'm really not very good!)

Then lunch in gym with revision notes and pop to shop on way home, then more revision until my exam this evening - ekk

May get back on this afternoon if I need a break

Have a good one everyone

swanriver · 09/06/2010 12:52

Wendy we have an enormous house by any standards. Two livingrooms, one of which is playroom (suppose you might call it the diningroom) Unfortunately the parlour (which would be perfect for a piano)is so stuffed full of dh's antiquarian books (as are two bedrooms)that I'm not allowed to have piano in it, so have to compete with telly in eves and also it's under dd's room so makes too much of a racket for her to sleep. Anyway grump over, I suppose it's fine where it is in playroom, nice view and ambience (hate that word), and I must just try and fit practice into daytime routine, I'm spoilt really..
Dh says I can practice every eve between 7 & 7.30 , although I find that a bottleneck part of eve.

Work done
recycling done
bit of rescuing done
fancy dress given away (some) to school finally though dh insisted on rescuing Ratatouille outfit and a policeman's helmet
fried potatoes for tea

sorry you are feeling so tired Wendy
Making room for a new baby and a piano and a computer desk, I agree LOL that would give me bad dreams, there are so many variables. At least I don't have a sewing machine yet or a breadmaker...

swanriver · 09/06/2010 13:14

Just did loads of v assertive piano practice! I love having a piano wherever it is!
Still on grade 1 though Ds2 is going to catch me up soon.
