OnEdge · 18/05/2010 10:30

I don`t juggle family and career, I just keep dropping all the balls in a juggling type fasion.

wastingaway · 18/05/2010 10:32

OnEdge, we sometimes get things done quickly so we can spend the rest of the day near horizontal.

05.15 baby still crying, stagger about and trip over GHD s blinking cos no glasses and do bottle - bung it in babies general direction, return to bed in a bouncy fashion to make pretending to sleep husband aware that i am not amused.

Love the new title, marking spot for later as I still feel like crap!

SpringyWho · 18/05/2010 11:10

Can anyone join in? I'm in serious need of motivation & H is moving out soon, so I'll need to do everything myself.

OnEdge · 18/05/2010 11:20

I really really take my hat off to single mums. I think thay are magnificant women doing all that, and most of them look so coooooool aswell, also seem to become feisty which I love. Sometimes when I am struggling WITH DH helping I just think about those single mums out there I have so much new found respect for them. Oh i feel all noble and sisterly now, time for a salad cream sandwich and refelction.

cikecaka · 18/05/2010 11:21

Everyone is more than welcome Springy, Sorry to hear you are having a hard time

SpringyWho · 18/05/2010 11:34

Thank you. I'm still sitting in my pyjamas & have managed to have breakfast. That is all so far. H dealt with DS this morning, so I've literally done nothing. Actually, that's a lie - I stopped the tumble dryer because it was finished drying & just wasting electricity. I'm on a roll

I think I'm going to start with an incomplete, easy-going list today & try & get things done properly from tomorrow. So:

Brush teeth
Shower
Get dressed
Pick up DS's mess from the living room floor

Take parcel to post office

12.30 Student parent focus group (I'm really hoping to meet potential friends here, as I've not met any other student parents yet & have no local friends or family!)
2.10 Seminar

4-6 Receive Asda delivery
Cook dinner. Maybe even for H if I'm feeling generous / it's convenient with whatever I make.
Sort through clean laundry
Do at least one wash
Set another wash to go on time delay for the morning (been asked not to use washing machine after 10pm by neighbours)

It's ridiculous how little that actually accomplishes - I have so much uni work to do, never mind ongoing household things & the ever-increasing pile of filth & clutter. But I have to start somewhere, I think.

I have a aversion to washing up. When I was pregnant, I had awful morning sickness & the worst trigger (I can't smell, so that thankfully removed most things!) was the sight of washing up. Every time, I was sick immediately for 30+ weeks. Now I have a psychological association whereby I really struggle to do it. I can just about manage if I wash things up as soon as they are finished with, but that's not always practical & I'm lazy. There's absolutely no way I can have a dishwasher & with H moving out, I don't know what I'm going to do. I'm seriously considering paper plates

Alicetheinvisible · 18/05/2010 11:42

Just spoken to MW and maternity hospital. Their advice is to do as little as possible, as in bedrest type thing to stop uterus being stimulated, as everytime i stand up/move/do anything i get a BH. Quite nice in a way, but managable really just for a couple of hours as have a toddler and 2 horses (DH is taking DD to work with him, luckily has a quiet day) i suppose the worst case scenario is having to do this for the next month/6 weeks as by then i will nearly 35weeks and everything much safer if the baby is born. Hopefully it will really mean just bumbling about very slowly for a while.

lordkensal · 18/05/2010 11:43

If you feel overwhelmed by all the cleaning and housework, then this might cheer you up - made me chuckle.

Hello OnEdge and Springy Nightmare about the washing up, no idea what to suggest!

Alice - hopefully if you can take it really easy for a few days then things will settle down. Your list for the day should change to read 'put feet up' and that is the only thing allowed on in

JKS - I must do a similar audit. I have no idea where all the money goes, really must try and do some budgetting...

I have run out of steam now. Think I might sit in the garden with my book this afternoon and just let DS trot about, I really cba.
