November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

Afternoon I have been really busy and upstairs looks loike a palace but downstairs looks like a bombsite. My living room only looks tidy between 8pm and 7am, when DD and DS3 are in bed!!

Welcome steph I was just like you a couple of months ago, until I joined this thread and the lovely people on here helped me sort out my house, and now even my deep cleaning doesn't take that long because I have decluttered. I agree with clairy started by decluttering. I don't know about you but I find decluttering utterly boring so I used CC method of doing 15 mins at at a time, it's actually quite amazing how much can be done in that time because it becomes a challange. Also I had to be ruthless and stop being so sentimental over silly things.

PlumBumMum · 04/11/2009 14:11

Hi Steph, I agree with JKS put it all on here and then make shorter lists form it, You can go back to your big list and see all your dones, I do this from time to time

JKS well done!

alwayslookingforanswers · 04/11/2009 14:13

I'm not a fan of flylady (having tried it MANY times in the past and failed miserably) however one thing I do still occasionall use when I'm REALLY behind on the housework is

her crisis cleaning (minus the shoes - I can't get my head around the shoes thing) - just to get a basic grip on thing again.

OP posts:
Alibabaandthe40nappies · 04/11/2009 14:27

Welcome Steph I would make a list room by room of all the things that needed doing. Try and start with something that would make day to day stuff quicker - for me always wardrobes and clothes drawers because it makes getting dressed quicker and makes putting away all the clean washing faster.

JKS - glad the Dr prescribed you something. Don't know if you remember but I was weird about starting ADs too, took me a couple of days to work up to it once I had the prescription. I hope they work for you

Loads of x-posts.

JKS - well done . I'm sure if you rang the surgery you could speak to your Dr just to check you are ok to take them together.

CC - that is a brilliant thing to do. I used to help run a group before I went to Uni and it was such a laugh and so rewarding. I will def be getting involved again when DS is bigger. Hope you enjoy it!

Hi Alice Totrocks sounds like fun!! We are fans of the Ting Tings!!

CC I am hoping that once have have done the list, I will keep on top of it all and not have to do it before christmas

We are having a bonfire do tomorrow evening, with some family and friends coming over, so I have a busy day tomorrow with the preparations. Also I am taking my nan to a hospital appt in the morning.

I have still got the put clean bedding on the beds. I am going to do a deal with my DH when he gets out of the shower. He can either do the beds or clear up the kitchen,

I will be back later to add tomorrows list as I won't have time in the morning.
