November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

Well to add to my injuries from the fall this morning, I managed to slice my finger open this evening! Was waiting around at school for DS who has extra maths tuition and decided to go move my car nearer. Was walking along and my shoe felt funny so I had a look. There was a piece of glass in the sole of my shoe which I tried to remove thinking it was a stone. Didn't think anything of it till I realised my hand was wet. Blood everywhere. Well not quite everywhere but enough!

RainbowSparklers - I usually make the cake around now or at least by the end of the month. I use Delia Smith's recipe which you can get on-line. Am making 2 this year. Both square and I will divide one into 4 and ice separately for the cake stall at the Xmas Bazaar at DS's school.

Done:

DS out of bed!
DS and neighbour to school
Walk dog
Washing
Unload dishwasher
Email solicitors for quote re house purchase
Chase surveyor
Email school finance dept re bill for school lunches
Text babysitter
Load charity stuff into DH's car
Put recycling into my car
Text dog trainer
Make hair appointment
Drop off recycling
DS, I and dog all fed!

To do:

Deliver charity stuff
Frontline dog
Take down Halloween decs
Do list for surveyor
Text vet
Sort WW books and do mealplan for week
Ironing

Tomorrow/Ongoing:
(This list will be added to!)

Sort rest of charity stuff
Sort books for second hand book stall at school
Tidy clothes on landing
Move DS's lego downstairs
Tidy/clear bookshelves in study
Do Xmas list
Do shopping list for Xmas cakes

JKS - I used to play violin. Orchestra was such a laugh. Knackered my shoulder a few years back so painful to play now and I'm out of practise.

Ali - thanks, am worried that PND is creeping up on me. I am feeling really paranoid and don't want to be on my own but that could be because only had about 2 hrs sleep last night. DH is sleeping in the spare room so missing him a bit. I've spent the last 2 days on my own (with only mnetters for company). DS not his usual self either. Maybe I should plan to do something with other people/ new mums (scary).

Today's List
DS up and dressed done
Feed DD done
Breakfast done
DS to nursery DH done
DD Nap - doing
Get showered and dressed - done
Lunch done

Early night for me, didn't get any laundry done but I have wiped up and tidied etc downstairs and the dishwasher is set to come on first thing. DH working at home tomorrow so a lie in until 8am if DS will co-operate!!

Haven't done a list yet, but need to do housework extras - mirrors, paintwork, windows etc.

PlumBumMum · 04/11/2009 00:02

Hi all, got dd2s piggy bank cake done, it looks good but I rushed it, but she will be happy

hugs for JKS & HMHB, you know we are here to listen
I am hoping to get a practice sponge done tomorrow for christening cake and I really need to get some washing sorted[fed up with washing emoticon]

Buda · 04/11/2009 06:32

Good morning! Dog had me awake at 5.30! She is lucky she is cute really.

HMHB - I hope you are ok today. Lack of sleep can do weird things to the mind. That could cause paranoia and depression but not seeing anyone won't help. We can all listen and chat but we are not as good as seeing real-life people. I have a tendency to just drop DS at school sometimes and come straight home and not see anyone and i know that a few days of that can leave me depressed. I try to organise seeing someone for coffee or just getting out and doing something if I feel myself getting like that.

JKS - don't worry about becoming a gibbering wreck at the doc. If you try and stay stoic the doc may not realise how you really feel.

I have a busy day today and am out tonight for a friend's birthday.

To do:

DS up and organised for school
Tidy kitchen and put dishwasher on
Take DS to school
PTA meeting
Supermarket
Walk dog
Deliver charity stuff

Thanks all, I have been dithering about still going today as part of the reason (the excuse?) for going was my delayed AF but lots of spotting and thinking about PCOS coming back. Now AF is here (big time) it feels like i've lost the reason to go IYKWIM? but i will go, and try and just chat and see what happens...

SparklyAlice · 04/11/2009 08:42

Morning ladies

JKS good luck with today. You are under a lot of pressure atm so seeing someone who may be able to help is a very good idea. I hope you get what you need/want out of it

HMHB I agree with Buda, when you are tired things always look much more bleak than they really are. Going to a toddler/bf/baby massage group may really help you to keep your identity iyswim? It is easy to pretend you don't exist when hiding away, but it is no good for the mental state (i know that from experience) Being a mum can be so isolating, which is why MN is so popular, but it is no substitute for actually going out and seeing people. Have a manly pat on the back (and a quick hug whilst no one is looking )

So, house is still a tip, cat is still pissing everywhere, and i am still behind on the washing oh well, time for gin a list

Everyone up done
Everyone breakfast doing
Everyone dressed
Empty dishwasher done
Reload dishwasher

Morning everyone

JKS - glad you are still going

HMHB - a BF group would be a really good place to start, but it's still early days for you yet so don't put pressure on yourself IYKWIM? If you feel PND creeping then maybe go and see your GP - just talking about it might help with the paranoia. (((hugs)))

CC - well done DD!

Alice - PSML at gin before 9am, hope your day improves!!

Plum - I think we should ask MN for a [fed up with laundry emoticon]. I would use it on an almost daily basis I'm sure! It's all the folding and putting away that get me, it is never complete.

Where is Norks? Hope she is ok [mother hen emoticon]

Had a nice lie in this morning, DS slept until almost 8am! Have done nothing so far except breakfast.

Please can I ask for some good luck vibes for DH? He has got an interview at 8:30am tomorrow for an amazing job which he was asked to apply for. It would be a massive step up for him.

TODAY
All up and dressed
Orange juice and Spatone
Breakfast x 3 - done
2 loads of washing
Wipe over loo and basin in bathroom
Cut DH's hair
Clean mirrors and glass doors
Hoover downstairs
Sweep kitchen and hall
Lunch x 3
Mop kitchen floor
Clean inside patio doors
Clean windows in bathroom, our bedroom and DS' room
Dinner x 3 - chilli, didn't have it last night as it hadn't defrosted
Clear up
DS bath and bed
Tidy round before bed
