November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

I know it's a crap date. We will be in for at least 2 weeks....
He goes on the 16th, has electrodes/grids put in 17th, they are taken out on the 23rd & he has whatever brain removed/disconnected on the 23rd.

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 02/11/2009 16:58

JKS - sounds like madness for poor DS and you/family. I agree, move Christmas and have it early. You could make it really nice and save the bother/stress on the 25th when he is in hospital. As the offspring of divorced parents I regularly attended Christmas days on different dates and it makes no difference - still nice! .

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 02/11/2009 17:06

Have told friend with 'no kid's' wedding in Feb that we can't make it. He said he would understand if we couldn't get childcare. I am almost thinking now that he didn't want us to go to save money. They have asked for money on the invite as their gift. .

Ah well it'll probably save us a couple of hundred quid not to go.

Have emptied bins... I am sooo good.

DH/DS due back any minute. Time for a quick dash round...

Hi all

JKS - I am afraid I don't know why your DS needs an op but it sounds a shame to have that date. Hope it all works out.

Well I feel to have had a very productive afternoon! I can actually see my desk!!!

Done:

Put away washing on radiator
Wash pots by sink
Do washing
Take down drying washing from yesterday
Brush dog
Get my car from outside friend's house (left it there yesterday as was persuaded to have some champagne!)
Start file for new house purchase
Start file for new house plans
Tidy desk - yay!
Build new flatpack file thingie

Tomorrow/Ongoing:
(This list will be added to!)

Walk dog
Frontline dog
Email solicitors for quote re house purchase
Load charity stuff into DH's car and deliver
Take recycling
Take down Halloween decs
Sort rest of charity stuff
Sort books for second hand book stall at school
Tidy clothes on landing
Move DS's lego downstairs
Tidy/clear bookshelves in study
Do Xmas list
Do list for surveyor
Load charity bags into DH's car
Do shopping list for Xmas cakes
Text babysitter
Text vet
Text dog trainer
Email school finance dept re bill for school lunches
Sort WW books and do mealplan for week

Whilst tidying desk I found 2 house decluttering lists that I have been meaning to tackle! I will be doing 2 To Do lists - 1 daily one and one extras and I will be aiming to move a few items to each daily list.

I have 2 DSs, ds1 is 3.5 and sure he'll love 2 Christmases, lol.
DS2 is 21mo (but functions at the level of a 6mo old mostly) he has epilepsy that has not responded to any drugs so is having surgery to have the dodgy bits taken out.

The date won't be moved i don't think, i have asked to be put on a cancellation list and they said they would do that but i seriously doubt that such a thing even exists.

DS2 is on their 'emergency-do-asap' list anyway so think that's the earliest they can get all the specialists together.

I'm sure it'll go by quickly enough....
