November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

OP posts:

Morning!

Plum, the cake looks fab!

Alice, I've thought of a business opportunity 'Popping by to visit', hire ourselves out to come round to visit people who need to get their house clean.

If Dad makes his connection he should be in town by about 12, so we'll meet him for lunch.

Oh I finally cut the nappy liners from the fleece last night. So we'll see how they work out today.

  • all up, clean, dressed and teeth brushed done
  • make beds and tidy upstairs done
  • breakfast done
  • laundry - rinse nappies done

Nigelslater shoe is made from sugarpaste

Thank you all I am pleased, made a few mistakes, thats why its not a close up
the blue
bottle is bubble bath
then a towel hanging
then a small makeupbag
hand mirror
lipstick
coldcream
perfume bottle
and you can just see the pink cord of a hairdryer

Sat and rolled all the bubbles that was the tedious bitbut I still enjoyed it

Thank you Alice was tempted to join that thread but I will just be tempted to do more craft stuff You should check out this website its brilliant and my dcs love it

clean and tidy kitchen
bake 2 x12" sponge
make all icing decorations
put a wash on
hoover
lots but see how I get on

SparklyAlice · 26/11/2009 09:43

Wasting good idea in theory, but we all live so far apart! Perhaps Kim and Aggie could have a show where they randomly knock on peoples doors and ask to look around. That would put enough fear into people to keep basic cleanliness up to date

Everyone up done
Everyone dressed done
Everyone breakfast done
Make beds done
Empty dishwasher done
Put washload on 1st load *on (out of 3)
Pop to town (mm, maybe....)nope

PlumBumMum · 26/11/2009 12:07

I have just joined ebay, to bid for something for dh, which he won, so when I go to pay now what happens??

MadameMoo · 26/11/2009 13:12

Hello all! How are you all doing.

Sorry to have disappeared, I've been ill (D&V) for a couple of days. It hit me like a bolt from the blue on Tuesday evening...

DP's been great but the house is an absolute tip. He decided to use disposable nappies while I was ill (which is fine, obviously) but didn't bother think to wash the half a bucket of dirty nappies that DC had produced since I did the last nappy wash (monday morning). I just found them

DP's gone back to work and I've done nothing much in the house yet today. So, I need to get sorted as much as I can but am still feeling pretty rough. I'm going to try and do some 15 minute blitzes.

15 mins in:
Kitchen
Lounge
Hall, stairs & downstairs loo
Bathroom
Our bedroom
DCs rooms (7 or 8 mins each)

Also:
Nappy wash ON
1 other wash?

JustKeepSparkling · 26/11/2009 13:21

MadameMoo - don't overdo it so soon after being ill

Plum - you should end up in Paypal and enter cc details to pay that way? May need to set up a Paypal account too?

Nearly all my Christmas shopping for the boys has been off ebay this year.

MadameMoo · 26/11/2009 13:29

Lol, you're right JKS I will have to be careful, I'm on my own for bedtime duty tonight and that takes it outof me at the best of times. But, DD's at nursery all day tommorow and DS is going for a couple of hours too. I really really want and need a lazy day. My delusion idea is to keep the couple of hours that DS is away free for sleep.

That said, I've not got a thing done yet, DS decided to need lots and lots of attention as soon as I'd posted... I'm hoping he'll let me get on in a mo

Clairy what a sweetie! I am indeed sitting down and taking it easy. Need to assemble enough energy to get the DC to bed without one of us having a melt down...

Did 15 minutes of folding and putting away clean washing, but that was mainly sitting anyway so it doesn't count.

Wow PBM those cakes are amazing! Have you done some sort of course?

SparklyAlice · 26/11/2009 17:03

MadameMoo 15mins of folding and putting away washing definitely counts, even if you are lying down!

clairy do any of us live near you? Have you got your list sorted? Have you got boxes/bags?

Do ornaments and airing cupboard, then bookcases, then wardrobes. Those are most of the big scary things that take time. We will help encourage on here, even if we are no actual help!

Good morning

You will all be pleased to know that i have truly lived up to my slatternly reputation. The washing i did yesterday (just the one load in the end) is still in the washing machine Although, i may (just maybe) hang it on the line rather than chucking it in the tumble [horror]

Got a fair bit of to-ing and fro-ing today, but all at a leisurely pace.

Finish washing (including piles that are in the kitchen)
Do horses (twice)
Go to Waitrose
Divide up sausages and freeze
Get some felt and stuff to make christmas gift bags (to fill with goodies)
Make cakes for cake stall
Start on gift bags?
Make sure house is tidy before going to bed
Dry all washing and put away
