November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

Absolutely the kids come first Clairey. This isn't about you or him, it is about them. H is the one who has forced this situation, let him suffer the consequences.
Re. maintenence, are you going through the CSA? As long as he has the essentials (bed, chair, cooker and a small fridge) then he should be looking after his children before he buys himself new furniture.

Another bad nights sleep here. DD doesn't seem to settle after her night feed (@ 3am). In fact she seems 'awake'. Will try to keep her up a bit more today to see if that helps. My sympathies to all those lacking sleep today.

DS has been sent home from school as had diarrhea and tummy ache. We have had approx 2 hours of cbeebies so far. I bought Muppets Christmas Carol in Tesco's for him to watch in December last week, is it too early for him to watch?? Might save the day.

DD had cradle cap and eczema - Dr prescribed hydrocortisone, yuk. She has not done a poo for 36 hours . Must be in the post.

CC - I think the others have given you some good advice about the fridge. You have to do as much as you can to look after yourself and the kids now.

Hope everyone is doing OK today.

argh everyone is crying

claireybepositive · 25/11/2009 13:02

Thanks everyone. My worry is that he will start messing me around re maintenance if he feels hard done by so I think I'll just buy him the small one and be done with it. That way I will have nothing to feel guilty about ESPECIALLY as I have agreed to accept slightly less from him than the CSA recommends until the end of our tenancy here.

Still feel slightly resentful about it (am sure he thinks I have a money tree or something )but rather that than him be dificult about the regular money... Plus I was happy to do it til others said I shouldn't iyswim

HMHB I bought dd bee movie for xmas but we watched it at the weekend for an easy life with all the crap weather!

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 25/11/2009 13:23

Clairey I can understand you feeling like that, how awful that you can't rely on him to provide for his children regardless of whatever problems you and he have had. Make sure that you do go through the CSA if he starts to be difficult though.

HMHB - oh dear! Definitely use the DVD if it will help!

WOO HOOOOOOOOO!!!!!!!!!!

I GET THE KEYS ON TUESDAY!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Shit, that means I have to pack and stuff...

PlumBumMum · 25/11/2009 14:29

Clairey, I see what you mean because you have said it you feel obligated, but I think I would be firm and say after looking into it I can't afford to buy a new fridge, and the kids come first in all this so they are entitled to the fridge,
you and them did not ask for this situation,

Like Wasting and Ali say I would take as much as I could, including the big TV, if you have no room for it sell it and then give him half the money to buy a new tv or fridge

Is he going to be living in the house until August? then he is paying for his home until August he can't moan to you about that!

Well I have got 2 1/2's of cake baked
and my cousin rang in a panic to see if I could do a christening cake for her SIL for Sunday, I said yes[grr] why do I put myself under pressure

Anyway better go do schoolrun
going to do a winter casserole today, not sure exactly what it is yet but it involves
beef
onions
parsnips
turnip
and maybe carrots

JustKeepSparkling · 25/11/2009 15:05

Clairey - don't be too nice ok?!

claireybepositive · 25/11/2009 15:24

HMHB I am happy to report that my experiences with Tax Credits people was just the complete opposite of yours, phoned up to let them know of the change and the first lady was really lovely and advised me to do it from today so I'd have the extra money in place before moving and then transfered me to a nice man who went through it all with no issues and said I'll get the higher amount from tomorrow

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 25/11/2009 16:16

Hello ladies

Clairy Yay!!! for new house!!! Agree with everyone, you don't owe him anything, it was his choice, he should've of thought about this before he started acting like an arse. The children come first

Plum i love hearing how well you are getting on with your cakes, i feel so proud of you You know there is a craft chat thread (in arts and crafts - imagine!) that you might enjoy. I am hoping it will encourage me, already feeling inspired by chatting to people on there.

No list today, had a mad hour this morning doing lots of jobs from last nights list. Had a lovely lunch with friend and her DC. Have another friend coming over tomorrow morning, so good excuse to not let things slip

JustKeepSparkling · 25/11/2009 18:35

Alice - it's one way to keep your house in order, just keep inviting people round!

How crazy is this - opened door to go out torching and found about 6 parcels in the porch. We've been in all day. One of them even says 'Signed For' on it
Admittedly we live in a 'nice' area and they were inside the porch but still, shouldn't the postie have rung the doorbell????
Means I have even more to wrap up, but then I'm pretty sure I'm done.

Wed:

  • stay on top of DS2's pain meds & ABs DONE
  • sort out iPhone NeedDH! PuttingMoreContactsOn
