November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

It's ok, can stop being quite so negative now. Have spoken to two nice non mean letting agents and am down to view two houses. One the next road from here but TINY and the other a 30 min walk but better size (still small but 2 beds are aren't they). Neither available yet, the close one is being redecorated and the further one has never been let before so the landlord is going through all the checks (hopefully they'll pass!).

If we get the further one I'll try to keep dd at her preschool (5-10 min walk then bus the rest) then just put her in at a different primary school when she won't know much different anyway (though will be gutted not to be going to "her" school that she has been talking about going to for the past 2 years!)

Really sorry not to have caught up on all the posts but CWWM I am so sorry that I was so caught up in myself that I didn't see your post about Hannah

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/11/2009 11:06

Thanks Wasting

You should see an improvement with the bamboo, I've got bamboo nappies and those and an Airflow keep DS dry and he is a really heavy wetter. I use hemp at night with extra hemp and bamboo boosters - you can get a pack of 5 large hemp boosters from the Nappy Lady for £15, they are fantastic.

Clairey

Mumof2 - yum I could just go some biscuits now actually, breakfast was a long time ago!

I'm at my parents now, DS is asleep in the car on the drive so I've got peace and quiet.

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/11/2009 11:10

Clairey x-posts. Fingers crossed on those houses then, really good to hear you sounding a teeny bit more positive

Hope everyone has a good day, won't be back now until I get home this evening.

Mumof2, hope DH op goes well.

Clairey, , improvement on the house front though!

Ali, he wears Bumbles at night, with extra boosters in and we've never had a problem. I've just got away with a single folded terry in an airflow during the day before as he didn't wet heavily at all.
I've got so much terry knocking about through buying different types, I'm reluctant to fork out for any boosters!

Hello all,

I am crap aren't I jumping in and out! Must try harder!

Still I have been busy!

DONE

Sorted out bathroom - tis a very big bathroom and a pain in the arse to keep clean!

Sorted out DS1's room - 4, yes 4 binbags of broken toys thrown away [blush, found 200 dirty socks (he is 7 btw not 17!) also found £1.42 lol! It now looks like a 7 year old's bedroom rather than a tip!

2 loads of washing
breakfast
drop off's
lunch
dishes

TO DO TODAY

2 more loads of washing
Tidy up living room
Take binbags to the tip
Put clothes away
clean TV stand
Drop DS2 off to friends
pick DH up
Parents evening
Pick both DS's up from friends
cook dinner
dishes
packed lunches
DS's to bed
Bed myself!

I have been feeling a bit low lately. Think the whole SAHM thing was nice at first and now I'm in a bit of a lull. I still have to see my work "friends" daily when i drop off and pick up DH, they are nice and wave to me, say hello, ask how I'm doing but in a stupid silly way I miss it! Just the people!

Anyway I am gonna go have a weetabix - another odd thing is I have lost my appetite completely!

Then I need to make a start on tidying up downstairs!

JustKeepSparkling · 11/11/2009 13:26

Clairey - sounding more positive

Julez - wow you have been busy! SAHM is good and boring in equal measure i find

Hello slatterns

Sorry, i have been a bit rubbish this week. Have been struggling to find the oomph.

It is DD's birthday on saturday and we are having a little party in a church hall/scout hut, just a load of balloons, picnic tea and some cake, nothing very exciting, but loads of people can't make it and i am feeling a bit which is stupid really. Also, my mum is coming up which is nice but a bit stressful at the same time. I like spending time with her but hate to admit i am a bit ashamed of her I feel people will think less of me because of how she is. I am not proud of this, but it is hard not to feel like this.

It also means that the house will have to be tidy in case anyone comes back afterwards. And i have loads of cake and food to make/sort out, but kind of feeling a bit bleugh about it now. I want to enjoy it, but really struggling to get the enthusiasm.

Kick up the bum please?

SparklyAlice · 11/11/2009 16:47

Clean kitchen
Make lasagne for dinner
Put washload on
Dry washing
Tidy living room
Hoover living room

To do this week:
Sort out party stuff
Sort out toys to take upstairs to make room for new stuff
Sort out clothes mountain
Get downstairs dusted

Will add more as i go along i'm sure

JustKeepSparkling · 11/11/2009 17:56

Gentle for you Alice. Sounds like a tough weekend ahead. My mum can sometimes make me feel like that, that i can be a bit embarrassed when i introduce her - i want to explain that she spent a year in hosp/rehab with cancer treatment and that we're lucky to even have her, so please excuse some of her 'idiosyncrasies'

HMHB - i felt like that earlier, no energy at all, and DH was heading out to work at 5pm, most inconvenient!

DONE:

  • DH up first
  • breakfast
  • all dressed (apart from DS2)
  • ds1 to pre-sch
  • clean up DS1's trike to lend to a friend
  • clean up DS1's balance bike
  • find longer screws to attach bell to new bike (have used cable ties instead)
  • other jobs (just 1)
  • collect ds1 (N)
  • lunch & tidy kitchen
  • DH walk round block with DS2 & collect prescriptions
  • chat with friend who popped round to collect trike
(& she had laminated some ITNG pics for DS2 to take into hosp)
  • give DS1 his balance bike (not overly impressed yet!)
  • go to town for cafe, pjs & new nappy bin
  • boys tea
  • DS2 crashed out & in bed
  • DH out for work

TO DO:

  • DS1 bath & bed
  • quiet night on my own

Ongoing:

  • get photos of family & hang them up
  • get on with friend's family tree
  • transfer all family trees over to Mac software
  • then go through 1911 census

PlumBumMum · 11/11/2009 18:05

Kicks Alice, As long as your dd enjoys herself thats what counts

Ali dd1's DLA renewal(May) got turned down on the grounds that she does not require any more care & attention than the average 8 year old and they did not contact one of her doctors, , so I went to CAB and they told me to go for an oral appeal, so it is tomorrow need to be there at 1.30,appeal is at 2.30,
but I have to bring dds doctors notes as they weren't requested
So we'll see how it goes and at least I can say I tried my best,
its £17 a week, which we used to do things with dd and the dcs for being good at the hospital, but I'm not worring about it!

mumof2rugrats · 11/11/2009 18:19

alice im really sorry i cant come but maybe we could have a little tea party at mine with the 3 girls next time your down can you save me some cake though please as i love your cakes
with mum you could always say you were adopted and she is your birth mum so they dont think she brought you up as telling them the truth will confuse them because if we cant get our head round how will outsiders

Hi, have to catch up. Ended up calling an ambulance for my mother last night, so didnt get home til around 3am this morning, was back up at the hospital just running tests, they think that its a UTI but are concerned in case she has had another mini stroke

Alibabaandthe40nappies · 11/11/2009 18:32

Alice - I always get really anxious before parties and then have a lovely time - know exactly how you feel.

Plum - I remember now - fingers crossed for you!

Julez - it takes a while to get into being a SAHM I think. I went straight into it from maternity leave, but even so it takes a while to get into new routines.

Had a nice day with my parents and a lovely hour of peace at the hairdresser.

Oh CC - I hope she's ok. My grandma had loads of strokes, she used to hallucinate, get us all mixed up etc. She once shouted at me in the middle of the hospital because she thought I was my Mum and that I had divorced my Dad!! 'Who's he?' pointing and shouting at DH - it was awful. She would have been so mortified to know it had happened.
Hopefully it is a UTI and they can clear it and get her back to normal - hope you manage some sleep tonight (((hugs)))

Wasting - Will he get to take the week off another time?
