November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

Oh CC, what a nightmare!

Ali, as long as his being home results in productivity, I'll be happy.
Lakeland delivery, , what ya got?

I am in a rotten mood, nothing terribly serious, just one of those everything all at once days. Less money in the bank than I would like, nappies leaking, I fell over some of DS rammel in the front room, I've got very little done and we've eaten crappily, then DS snoozed off at 5, so we're all over the place.

I shall have a list for the rest of the evening. If I can get a good lot of jobs done I might stop feeling so down at myself.

  • DS bath and bed
  • wipe round in bathroom
  • finish washing pots
  • dry pots
  • take rubbish and recycling out
  • tidy up and wipe round in kitchen
  • sweep floor
  • wash floor
  • wipe down table and highchair
  • sort out airers, fold any dry washing, put some on radiators
  • tidy living room
  • get hoover out and put diy stuff in pantry
  • 15 minutes tidying in front and back rooms
  • locate diary and notebook
  • sit down and write some lists
When DH gets in
  • cook DH dinner
  • SEW BUTTON ON DH COAT!!
PlumBumMum · 10/11/2009 21:27

Oh CC hope your okay, its scary when they see things

Ali they are all things I would secretly covet

I'm getting organised have meeting with man from CAB tomorrow to show him my letters before Thursday, and have to collect notes on Thursday morn
I'm not thinking about it too much and not being too hopeful so to avoid any disappointment (that dosen't look right)

Wasting We always have less money than we would like but c'est la vie, we bought oil today so I really don't have as much as I would like but at least we will be warm

JKS what is torching? Are you an arsonist/vandal?

JustKeepSparkling · 10/11/2009 21:47

Torching is new word from friend of DS1 for going out in the dark for a walk, with torches.

Friend's mum has to go out to walk the dog with kids in the dark.
We have to go out as DS2 is rarely awake and he's often awake after tea, when it's dark.

DS1 loves his torch, so torching is a new fave activity

Tues:

  • boys to bed DONE
  • me to orch DONE
  • DH home late here

Wed:

  • DH up first
  • DH 'working from home' (day off!)
  • breakfast
  • all dressed
  • ds1 to pre-sch
  • rest of the list tomorrow...

Ongoing:

  • get photos of family & hang them up
  • get on with friend's family tree
  • transfer all family trees over to Mac software
  • then go through 1911 census
  • organise (Started), upload & order photos of boys
  • fix my bike (flat tyre)
  • sort out security light outside trying
  • filing
  • oil DS1's bedroom door hinges & buggy wheels
HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 10/11/2009 21:54

Ali - with all your lakeland goodies you are going to be so tidy and organised!

CC - hope your mum is ok

Wasting -chin up. Start again tomorrow.

PBM - good luck with CAB tomorrow. We will need oil soon. I don't even want to think about how much it is .

wastingaway · 10/11/2009 22:19

Wasting - we ended up with a late bedtime here too. I'm praying for a good night tonight, DH needs to be on good form tomorrow!
Glad you are cheering up, days like that where it's a little of everything are crap. What's up with your nappies - just a one off or ongoing?

JKS - I love the idea of that! I think DS would like it even now.

Plum - what are you seeing CAB about? Have I missed a post somewhere?

HMHB - tidy and organised is the plan, whether that is the reality remains to be seen.

I've done alright today - no extra jobs though, only the basics. Out for most of tomorrow at my parents and getting my hair cut while they look after DS. Will post a mini-list for tomorrow later.

Morning!

Ali, thanks, just one of those days. DS slept through too.

Nappies - I think it's just that DS got much bigger and started to wee a lot more in the two months he was in disps.
He has a juice cup now as well as boob. He never drank much from his water cup and was always after his cousin's valve cup full of juice, so in the end I decided it was better that he drank something.
I've cut one of my otherwise useless bamboo flat nappies (they're rectangular )in half, and then folded one into four for a booster, so we'll see how he gets on this morning.

Hope it goes well for your DH today.

  • DS boobed, changed and dressed done
  • make beds done

  • wash pots and tidy kitchen

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 11/11/2009 09:46

Wasting - hope the nappy booster works.

Eventually managed to get DS to school. Why is it so difficult to chivvy along a toddler? DD is good as gold (but she is only 4 weeks, doesn't run away and gets dressed in whatever you want her to wear).

I was going to get a thank you card and some flowers for my midwife as she has been fab - not too cheesy?
