November Slatterns/Listmakers - one year on and still taking baby steps.........

1000 replies

alwayslookingforanswers · 31/10/2009 23:39

Yes - Slatterns (now Slatterns and Listmakers) is now a year old.

Come and join us if you're a slattern, or simply like making lists for jobs you want to get done each day/week/month.

Never thought 12 months ago that a thread I started to help me get the bare minimum done at home when I was feeling shite would still be going strong 12 months later - even with me frequently AWOL in recent months.

Everyone is welcome, we're a friendly bunch.

SparklyAlice · 09/11/2009 17:47

plum i'll bear that in mind. I have been using Waitrose Baby Bottom Butter on all the patches as it is so thick it stops them drying out more, got some more the other day only to realise that it is solid coconut massage oil instead. Massaged it into damp skin last night and all skin less dry this morning so will try that for a week or 2.

Clairy i don't know if you saw my links a couple of pages back, but i really think you should go to CAB as your first port of call. I have no idea what area you are in, so cannot look up any specific info, but they are lovely at CAB and really non judgemental.

MumRugrat i hope you don't mind but i mentioned to Grandma about the school situation, and she wondered if a)it is only temporary and b) if it would help DD to be top of the class for a while to get her confidence up a bit. We were just talking about reasons why they would do that. She also said that it is unlikely that the school is used to having parents actively taking an interest in the school and how it is run (i know you have voiced similar concerns about the parents at the school to me) so perhaps by going in and having a good talk about it may make you feel happier or get them to change things, help you help DD IYSWIM? I will look for the thread now, then give you a ring if that's ok

claireyBANG · 09/11/2009 18:34

Thanks everyone. I'll hopefully be feeling less doom and gloomy tomorrow and will come back on.

Alice thanks for the links, I went to CAB before but they weren't much use. Will see if I can find someone to mind the dc for a few hours tomorrow and go back.

Sorry to ignore everyone's posts

Only one or two things that didn't get done today - yay! SIL is coming at the weekend, and although she is a complete slattern and her house is normally covered with dust, I don't want her to think that I am one!

I was thinking mumof2 are you sure they are putting her back a year OR making a compesate(sp) class made up of 2 year groups

My dcs are at a small country school and my dcs are in mixed year classes,
hasn't done them any harm at all, in fact smaller class sizes only benefit children, IMO

wastingaway · 10/11/2009 10:17

Morning!

ALi, can you hire your SIL out, you got loads done!

Hope you can find some good advice Clairey.

I'm with you on the washing. All four airers are groaning, there's about 5/6 loads ready to go upstairs, but nothing is drying.

Not sure what I'm doing yet, either got a long walk to the main sorting office to collect my Organised Mum calendar, or 15 min at a time crisis clean fest.

Lunch is just cooking, I've not done much.

We'll go out for a quick walk in a bit.

A special job DH was in line for to start on Thursday hasn't come through , but it means he's still got a week off from his day job, so I'll be writing him a list!

HalfMumHalfBiscuit · 10/11/2009 12:49

At least its clean Plum. Better than drowning in dirty washing!
