What about October Slatterns dusting off those cobwebs

But don't worry if you don't like because noone liked my christmas names

NorktasticNinja · 06/10/2009 12:08

cikecaka - This isn't in classics (for some reason), bit I think you'll like it. Vitally Important Housekeeping Tip - or things I learned the hard way

My half hour off turned into an hour, ho hum. Never mind. Will attempt to pull my finger out now

NorktasticNinja · 06/10/2009 12:13

Not ignoring you Pumpkin, x posted! I'm afraid I'm useless at seasonal names (and thread titles). Really off to do something in a minute now.

cikecaka · 06/10/2009 12:28

thanks nork, have read a few, will read it through later
Like your title PLUM, liked your christmas name as well, but am in denial that Christmas is only 79 days away, as I am so disorganised

Hi, just came across this poem, think it sums us all up!

Some houses try to hide the fact
that children shelter there.
Ours boasts of it quite openly,
the signs are everywhere.
For smears are on the windows,
little smudges on the doors,
I should apologise, I guess,
for toys strewn on the floor.
But I sat down with the children
and we played and laughed and read;
And if the doorbell doesn't shine,
their eyes will shine instead.
For when at times I'm forced to choose
the one job or the other;
I like to be a housewife but
I love to be a mother.

NorktasticNinja · 06/10/2009 13:02

I've been talking to DP about the cleaner, we think we can afford to keep her one day (3 hours) a month . No point in her doing weekly jobs (and TBH the more I do myself the less impressed I am by her standard ofwork), but I think I can find enough jobs I don't fancy for her. Am feeling very lucky.

Christmas (well all the faf and expense surrounding it) does my head in, I'm really glad they hardly celebrate it here The present stuff happens on 5th December (Sinterklaas) but is much less extensive than in the UK. Christmas is just a relaxed (special) family meal for non-Christians. Yay.

Nice poem

Pumpkinbummum · 06/10/2009 13:40

I only thought of the christmas name because I thought it would take ages because my halloween one is crap,
and I thought with all the troll crap that was going on lately on mn abit of lightheartedness was called for

Anyway need to go pick up ds and dd1, she has docs app for her bloodtest again they came back abit off and she has to get flu jab
so not bothering with dancing today

so someone decide what title we are going with and set up new thread only 11 posts left

HINT HINT October Slatterns dusting off those cobwebs

NorktasticNinja · 06/10/2009 14:01

Lighthartedness is ALWAYS a good thing Pumpkin (or should I still say Plum?). Tried to cheer things up with my link earlier but it didn't really work!

I don't think I'm really qualified to decide the title and start the new thread, would the next poster kindly do it? I did make a useless suggestion

is it always so quiet on here? Or is it my fault for being over enthusiastic just the last couple of days? Should we maybe put something about recruiting in the title of the next one?

scaryclaireyboo · 06/10/2009 14:30

Think whoever does shou;d include what its all about for newbies tho.

V gloomy here, everything is damp, have 2 loads of washing hung on airers around house, ds spilt water all over my bed so duvet is soggy over banisters and have unexplained leak. Plumber came but couldnt identify it. Basically landing carpet is damp after bath/shower amd there is a shadow on kitchen ceiling but thhere are no pipes there and cant see any actual water

scaryclaireyboo · 06/10/2009 15:05

Oh but on a positive note I would like to retract my statement about soda crystals being as good as proper oven cleaners, they are better. For the first time ever since moving into this house the kitchen didnt fill with smoke when I used the oven

Alibooobaandthe40phantoms · 06/10/2009 15:14

Clairey - nightmare, I HATE plumbing disasters, they make me really panicky for some reason. Really hope you can get it sorted out

Plum I like your thread title, so come out of the corner
Clairey, when you say add something for newbies do you mean an explanation in the first post about what we do, 'rules' etc?

CC - that poem has really made me smile as I'm looking at the glass doors of my TV cabinet all covered in tiny handprints

Nork - you have definitely been very enthusiastic in your first 2 days . It varies quite a lot how many times a day we all post. I am very slack at the weekends and tend not to post much! We've got one or two people missing in action at the moment.

Plum - What Ali said. Although a reference to recruiting/being open to new slatterns might be a good thing. Is there already an old slatterns thread with introductory/explanatory first post somewhere?

Ali - do you have to cook 3 separate meals? I don't envy you that task

You'll not see much of me at the weekends either I suspect, I tend to do the bare minimum and leave it at that.

CC - I too spotted a grubby hand print and smiled this afternoon. Awwww. If only I could remember where...

Clairey - That sounds ever so worrying. I hope you get to the bottom of it soon. Are you insured against any damage it causes?

Alibooobaandthe40phantoms · 06/10/2009 15:52

Nork - blimey no! It's just my way of checking how many people I'm feeding. DH works at home a lot, but on the days when he doesn't he often won't be home in time for dinner and will be eating out with collegues/customers.

Pumpkinbummum · 06/10/2009 15:55

BUckbuckbuck chickens the lot of you, I was off doing schoolruns and doctors appointments

have to go start home works
