I don't think I would miss the fourth oven.... but I would miss the warming plate space. I think the 3 ovens are quite a lot cheaper to run, as well as cheaper to purchase so it is worth considering. Is your kitchen huuuuuuge? I somtimes think two oven-sized (same as 3 oven) Agas look a bit 'should have tried harder' in a huge space.

RiaParkinson · 13/02/2009 17:57

thanks woman in the attic

went to look (again) today and they are £700 cheaper - why bother

dp said he would miss warming plate and they did not look substantial enough!

WomanInAnAttic · 14/02/2009 11:40

these people are good apparently

RiaParkinson · 14/02/2009 20:35

wow woman in attic THAT looks good value!

WomanInAnAttic · 15/02/2009 08:33

You can always have the top re-enamelled in black and get new chrome lids. Then it will look really spanking new.

Brutushog · 03/04/2009 15:43

Can anyone tell me how noisy a powered-flue Aga is?

I am thinking of buying a 4-oven Aga. I had planned to use a normal flue through the existing chimney in our house but do not think that I can do this because of construction problems. Powered-flue would appear to be the only option.

NotanOtter · 03/04/2009 22:49

not at all noisy actually Brutushog
a hum

I was dreading it and since listening in in friends houses `i find them quite homely!

Bless!
You lucky lucky lady ,... we too are SE, but the only thing I can persuade dh to do late at night is guzzle wine and snore on the sofa.

NotanOtter · 03/04/2009 23:05

daffodingles you need to crack your whip!

for any poor soul who cares....

tomorrow is THE DAY!!!

9 am sharp - the beast is arriving!

Spidermama · 09/06/2009 22:16

All the very best of luck.

We have a Rayburn and it makes succulent meat (so my family tell me - I'm veggie) delicious bread (I have three loaves cooling downstairs) and is just such a lovely, lovely thing.

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 09/06/2009 22:23

thankyou spidermama

I am seriously thinking about bread as my offspring love their carbs.... do you make it from scratch or buy one of those packets?

do you have a tin with AGA on the side ?

ingles2 · 09/06/2009 22:33

Hiya....
you finally did it!!!!!
Fingers crossed it all goes smoothly tomorrow

Spidermama · 09/06/2009 22:50

PaulaYBF I make it from scratch. This is going to sound incredibly wanky but I make three one pound loaves at a time and I always bring something to the dough when kneading. It's such a robotic, rythmic movement, I sort of meditate on a subject while kneading. Depending on the subject, I can get quite vigourous!

What colour is your Aga?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 09/06/2009 22:53

spidermama - sounds wonderful and therapeutic tbh but not sure i have time...

aga very boring pewter!

Ingles ENFIN! lets hope i like it!

KristinaM · 09/06/2009 23:04

cant believe you still dont have one ria

are you getting new or reconditioned? and is your Dh still up a ladder?

talk to me about paint colours, style of units furniture, worktops etc

Spidermama · 10/06/2009 12:01

I've discovered the urgent need for a marble topped island in my kitchen since getting the Rayburn. Because you can't just turn off the gas and leave a pan on, you need plenty of surface on which to put hot pans.

How's it going notanotter?

PaulaYatesBiggestFan · 10/06/2009 21:31

Thanks for thinking of me spidermama!

All going well ish although v slow start due to not flat floor! Aga looks pretty although funny lines and bumps in enamel front stressing me a bit but i like to pay waaaaay to much attention to irrelevant minutiae

they have sort of half set it up but best part of tomorrow as well from what i can gather!

Kristina - aga is new four oven pewter with aims ( which was free) i seemed o only find re conditioned for 2/3 the price of new and as i got aims free i plumped for that in the end

Kitchen is shaker very very plain and not to everyones taste....i took my inspiration from plain english kitchens - but lord knows what it will end up looking like [eeek emotion]

i am painting it an off grey/white/cream and having a very boring granite i think.....

the whole of the kitchen is one cupboard basically - just one floor to 2.5 metre housemaids cupboard which is one whole wall....

very little worktop just island..

the through room looks dreamy though - very pleased so far - just pb white and i have bought a great picture

'hello' 'is anyone there?' have i bored you all enough

hellymelly · 10/06/2009 21:41

Hellooo PYBF, I am interested in your kitchen.I am craving a new kitchen (Gawd I am so middle aged)But we may have an extension so can't re-jig the kitchen yet.I really want a proper stove as I miss my old one (we lived on a boat before moving here).Your kitchen sounds fab.
