KristinaM · 08/01/2009 23:27

I spent ages looking through magazines of expensive kitchen to see how I could copy the look for A LOT less [ person with no original thought LOL ]

RiaParkinson · 09/01/2009 14:15

wow i am impressed ingles

Kristina yes I am!

I wanta plainenglish kitchen have you seen them? gooing to get a joiner to look at it..

goin tomorrow to see re conditioned ones so it will be decision time - i will know when i see them

katch · 09/01/2009 17:02

Plain English are gorgeous! But you could have similar from a local joiner for the cost of a Magnet one.
Be cheeky and get lots of posh firms to do you a plan, then base your design on that.

RiaParkinson · 09/01/2009 17:54

thats the intention Katch

My kitchen design is very very simple

one full wall of plain simple modern units - wall ones sitting on base

an island

a sink unit

a window seat matching

KristinaM · 09/01/2009 18:29

plain english are lovely but ££££

we got ours here as you will see....

we paid a kitchen designer to do a plan for us as i didnt feel i could have the posh kitchen companies do a home visit and draw up a plan when I had no intention of buying from them

georgiemum · 09/01/2009 18:30

Rayburn? My sis has one and I think they are fab.

frogwatcher · 09/01/2009 18:37

What about an Everhot if you are going electric. Or is that just not as good (cheaper to run I think).

bluesky · 09/01/2009 20:56

You need Mary Berry books not Amy, and the best baking one is the new Lucy Young. All the quantities of ingredients just to put straight into the half roasting tin or the HUGE one!!

RiaParkinson · 10/01/2009 21:08

oh my aga saga!

Well friday we went to the aga shop ( i have pmt and dp was being nice to me) i fell in love all over again and convinced myself i needed new

loved all the colours - was tempted by purple

wanted AIMS the computer thing that alters temp

was totally sold

RiaParkinson · 10/01/2009 21:14

Saturday comes (PMT raging) we set off after dps early surgery and me alone with 10 000 children - to the 45 mile trip to the reconditioned aga man

we get there

back of beyond

farm

look at agas

me non plussed

and then my world changed - I overheared him talking though all the different ages and styles of the agas in his showroom to another couple ( who bought one whilst we waited)

One of them sort of has a little shelf at the back ( will try to find pic somewhere) do any of you know it??
Well I am not having a fitted kitchen and therefore work top space may be at a premium and this little shelf somehow just does it for me...so i think the decision MAY ....MAY be made

I may sound fickle but i so like the look...plus the four oven top is all one piece with this one - no ledge between main aga and hotplate which looks all smooth and nice

i am very nervous!

Mooseheart · 10/01/2009 21:15

So did you actually sign on the dotted line?

FiveGoMadInDorset · 10/01/2009 21:15

My parenst AGA saga is as follows, they are moving house and in process of renovating old mill, just bought new AGA has been delivered and installed (they weren't there) and is the wong one. Mother is now panicking.

Mooseheart · 10/01/2009 21:18

Sorry, x-post.

FWIW, I have a reconditioned cream one. It's so beautiful and it was completely like new when bought 2.5 yrs ago. Cost less than 4k new! Now I'm especially pleased I didn't buy new as it now looks used. (IYKWIM).

I will quickly put a pic of it on my profile page for you to see, bear with me a minute...

Mooseheart · 10/01/2009 21:20

When I said 4K new I didn't mean new new. Reconditioned new.

RiaParkinson · 10/01/2009 21:20

Mooseheart .......

err no

I am libran things are never that easy!

fivegomad - how awful!

It was wonderous in his barn - proper old farm barn - rows and rows of cardboard covered doors etc labelled '2 oven red' '4 oven black'

every different type of top and lid and vent - just an aga lovers dream!

RiaParkinson · 10/01/2009 21:21

Moose that is just what i need to hear!

Mooseheart · 10/01/2009 21:30

Waaahhh... on its way, just having a bit of trouble with it. Bear with me...

Mooseheart · 10/01/2009 21:35

Here we are, from one Libran to another...

And yes, I was crap at making the big decision too...

RiaParkinson · 10/01/2009 21:43

what a beauty!!!

you are swaying me.....

Mooseheart · 10/01/2009 21:49

I can honestly say it was worth it... and think what you could do with all the money left over!

Am pulling photo from profile now, very paranoid about being spotted! Good luck in your quest and keep us informed!

RiaParkinson · 10/01/2009 21:50

thanks for your input and pic Moose

dp was impressed - he is desperate for re conditioned
