3 dresses I don't wear because they're not quite right.
Total is 3636.

Since my last post:

binned a load of the dcs art work.
did a horrible science experiments kit with them so that’s gone.
cleared space in the garage
listed a set of drawers on ecycle.
used up a bar soap
finished a pen
used up a notebook

ememem84 · 05/07/2025 10:10

Oooh also giving my iPad to dsis. Hers has given up and I don’t use mine. So seems like an easy win.

Pigtailsandall · 05/07/2025 13:50

I'm tackling kitchen next. Ours is really small so I can't really keep anything that we don't actively use. Day's out for day 186 is a frying pan. It's not the best and we have 2 of the same size

JK3 · 05/07/2025 23:14

outs:

a load of wood
a cool box
an air freshener I’ll never use
2 candles I’ll never use
2 items of clothes to charity
some cards used up for work
2 broken washing lines

total this year 710

Not much physical decluttering here, but ploughing through life admin and disordered paperwork.

School has a car boot sale towards the end of this month, but I don't want to be rushed into decisions I might regret. I think I'd prefer to plod along same as I've been doing.

Realised that several of the bags of frozen veg in the freezer are out of date by two or three years. I'm letting them thaw out, then draining off the water and putting the remains in the food waste bag for recycling.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter2025 · 06/07/2025 14:03

Just remembered I took a large carrier bag of soft plastics to the bin at tesco.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 06/07/2025 14:12

I've been ill so just posting for a bit of accountability. I did throw out two old jars with a tiny bit of sauce left in them.

Vinorosso74 · 06/07/2025 16:47

Life has been quite busy recently so decluttering has taken a back seat. Today, we have cleaned our bedroom, various outs of general rubbish. Also sorted through some paperwork so quite a bit of that to go.
Nothing spectacular but it's outs.

I got very upset by the state of a corner in our bedroom yesterday, after getting a book down from a high shelf and finding everything up there was coated in clumps of dust, so spent a couple of hours today emptying, cleaning, and rearranging it.

It’s a high shelf (above head height) in an alcove by the bed, with a small chest of drawers in the alcove. I had a memory box and some craft books on the shelf, but I’d just been dumping stuff I wanted to keep (mainly paperwork from my mum’s house) on top of them, and it was awful.

So this morning I took everything down and gave it a thorough clean. I already had another storage box to use as a second memory box, so was able to store a lot of the loose things in there. I already had had two folders for my school stuff up there (one for primary and one for secondary), so was able to file some loose paperwork from the pile in there. The two boxes are now stacked up there with the craft books next to them, and it looks so much nicer. I also cleared and cleaned the top of the chest of drawers, which is my bedside cabinet.

I felt really ashamed of myself for letting it get so bad, but it’s looking much better now 😊 No actual decluttering except getting rid of one cardboard folder, and I know that I probably need to go through the first memory box and see what’s in there, but I’m much happier now it’s been cleaned and organised.

I really relate to this, I think I have a corner like this in every room.

Just dug out the bags of doom, (I also have cupboards, shed & loft of doom). Sorted out some non prescription unopened eye drops within expiry date to give to friends with autoimmune problems. Looking at the motley selection of things to sell, donate, keep, chuck but getting overwhelmed so need to take a break & retry. Going to attempt Vinted but I'm a bit scared I'm going to mess up somewhere along the way!

I would advise taking photos of your wrapped item before you post it just in case there are any problems with postage en route. If there are and the item arrives damaged, you can just send Vinted a photograph of your wrapped parcel and you’ll be refunded xx

Oh right! Thanks very much for the sound advice👍 How does the postage work on Vinted, does the buyer pay? Can you get QR codes like eBay or do you have to print labels at home & who is the carrier, Evri, RM or someone else? I'm a bit befuddled. I've listed some stuff on eBay today but only because I couldn't see those kind of items sold on Vinted but going to attempt to list a designer top on there today as a trial 😄

The buyer pays for postage and you’re sent a QR code. Just scan it at the locker / the shop and when the buyer receives the item and clicks ‘everything is ok’, your money will be released

Finished 2 books this weekend. So they’re in the charity pile.

started a collection at work for old glasses. There’s a place here we can donate them to. So once the box is full off they go.

Pigtailsandall · 09/07/2025 14:42

I think I have forgotten to post again. I cleared out a few kitchen things to make space for new purchases. I've also got both dh and dc clear out a lot of papers.

Day 187, large tupperware container, badly scratched
Day 188, a pretty glass jar with absolutely no purpose
Day 189, an unopened pack of plastic glasses. Years old
Day 190 (today) used up a Lush body scrub bar from 2018...

This weeks outs:

  • more “art” - the kids seemingly love just leaving shit lying about the house. I’ve told them if it is there for more than 24 hours it gets binned.
  • finished a book - in the charity shop pile
  • dds swim hat binned - she got a new coloured one for moving up in ability.
  • Finished a pen at work so that got binned.
CherryRipe1 · 11/07/2025 13:29

Listing like crazy today items on eBay, spurred on by a sale on Thursday, which I posted off early today to avoid the heat. Also sold something on fb which was a surprise. Got another charity bag on the go for items that haven't sold & fed up with cluttering the lounge. Sorted a couple of tops to be listed on Vinted. I messed up my first attempt so trying again. Tatty throws & cushions ready for the rag bag. Just remembered daughter has a load of Karen Millen etc clothes & boots for selling or donating & no time lately but they're probably better listed in Autumn/Winter time.

ememem84 · 12/07/2025 08:25

Two pegs broke yesterday. So they were binned.
