Had a sort through of daughter’s clothes and got rid of 10 items which were too small.

total outs for this year - 648

Hasthisreallyhappened · 18/06/2025 16:58

Sold another of my fbmp items. Some random old tea coffee sugar canisters which the lady was very pleased with. My summer ice cream fund is now at £32

Realfastfoodie · 18/06/2025 18:37

Well, we are having some more renovation / decoration work done, and it’s been sprung on us at short notice! Nothing like having to pack stuff up for a bit of motivation. I don’t really have time to declutter as much as I’d like but at least sorting into boxes and binning anything I can.

Mostly craft things and bits I was keeping for no reason. I’ve added to my charity pile but at this rate I’m going to have to store that too 🤦‍♀️

TidyClutterIsStillClutter2025 · 18/06/2025 21:12

Eight two-litre cartons flattened and put in plastics recycling tub.

Sorting out playmobil into original sets. I've got my fingers crossed that everyone will agree to let go of a couple of them at least.

Lavendersong · 19/06/2025 01:38

I cleared some bags from the back of my car and threw them in the bin. I had clearly collected way too many.

i sorted out everyone’s shoes and now have a bag for Vinted / eBay or charity and another to bin.

Congratulations @PissedOffNeighbour22 🎉

Made a good start on my office today. Need to do 2 more sets of drawers in there and that's it!

Charity shop: puzzle, book

Bin / recycling: bra, pile of papers, plastic wallet, folder, 2x frame, stack of useful cardboard, picture mounts, 10x thread

Vinted/sold locally: water fountain, birdbath

Total 1277

Hasthisreallyhappened · 20/06/2025 18:19

A large outing hobby object of DH’s went today. Bitter sweet but at least I can move my other crap around in his garage.
the guy who bought it promised to look after it which I thought was very sweet.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter2025 · 20/06/2025 19:11

Two more plastic cartons into recycling bin.
Fridge has gone too cold in the hot weather, and froze all my salad leaves and tomatoes. So that stuff is now in food waste caddy.

eta for clarity

Realfastfoodie · 20/06/2025 20:24

Tons of stuff in the bin, too much to count I think. Nothing like clearing a room to get it painted to make you reevaluate stuff!

CheesePlantFeet · 20/06/2025 23:28

Did one set of drawers in my office today. One more to go!

Bin / recycling: 135 embroidery threads, bias binding, sew in tags, embroidery, sewing pattern, aida, cross stitch kit, drawstring bag

Total 1419

I really need this.
My house is really getting me down, it’s so full. I sorted a load of stuff after Christmas and it’s still in the airing cupboard and now none of the charity shops are accepting donations so I’m stuck. I can get rid of the clothes as school is doing a cash for clothes drive next week but I’m stuck on the other bits (household stuff/toys/books)

On top of this I’m trying to clear my late mum’s house (and inevitably some bits have crept in here)

Pigtailsandall · 21/06/2025 14:36

I went away for a few days and took stuff that was nearly empty/samples to use up. So days 167, 168, 169 and 170 were small shampoo, small face wash, some oil/cream samples and an eye cream.

When I got back yesterday I thought I'd do another round on my wardrobe but I'd use the same method as with kids books. I find it overwhelming to go through everything at once and I get confused and start second-guessing myself. But I found it pretty easy to choose just ONE thing daily and build on that. My goal is to keep going till I have a bag for life full to take yo the charity shop.

Yesterday, for day 171, I chose a kaftan because I am decidedly not a kaftan person. Today, for day 172, a vest top that's really thick. When it's warm enough for those I want them in lighter weight.

I have realised we still have Christmas stuff that hasn't been properly delt with too. Its a bit depressing but small steps are helpful. Do you have a local wastesavers facebook group you can offer things on? Or you could try Freecycle.

LivingDeadGirlUK · 21/06/2025 14:50

I really need to tackle the living room but I've been putting it off, I've sorted out a bag of textiles recycling from old socks etc that is ready to go to the tip. TBC just doing anything in this heat is a win, hopefully the storm will come soon and take the edge off!

My end goal is new carpets but I just can't even imagine having that done with the amount of crap we have!

Amazing… definitely an incentive to work towards it ?

Congratulations on both the wedding and the new job @PissedOffNeighbour22 !

No new decluttering this week, but I’ve finally taken those photos for Vinted and I’m going to upload everything to Vinted now while DH is cooking dinner.

Lavendersong · 21/06/2025 20:03

Just as I was clearing space etc DC home from uni dumping bags of stuff everywhere and then run off to go on holiday with uni friends. Marvellous.

Lavendersong · 21/06/2025 20:05

I have declutterred the back of the car in order to create space so that’s something at least

TidyClutterIsStillClutter2025 · 21/06/2025 20:20

DS took the OU course books and some language revision books, tapes, dvds. This way I don't have to decide how to dispose of it. Maybe someone with no internet can use it.

I feel a bit uncomfortable but it's only temporary.

Seeing the mess with different eyes with all the repairs that need done. Trying to future-proof the house and avoid having to do things in a crisis.

IndianSummer78 · 22/06/2025 01:12

24 empty DVD cases binned.
One t-shirt into donations bag.
Total is 3622.

ememem84 · 22/06/2025 14:00

Car boot sale today. Sold about half a car load. Made £130.

the rest is going to the charity shop this week.

stealthninjamum · 22/06/2025 14:04

I haven’t been on here for a couple of months as life with dd has been busy. She’s still being home schooled as we can’t find a school that can meet her needs and she’s too burnt out anyway.

I largely put the declutter on hold but the public areas of my house are largely tidy and decluttered. I think I had a New Year’s resolution to finish the rest of the house and have done a few small bits but not had much time.

So I have decided to start up again, even if it’s only 15 minutes in a room with a timer. Last night I chucked out some old wires in my bedroom and I labelled some of the other wires. Some are going in the wires drawer in the sitting room. I also moved some books to the rest of the house and chucked out some papers and receipts. My bedroom’s looking a bit tidier.
