Day 29 - a highlighter/foundation thingy which I tried but it didn't really work for me. The bottle was barely opened to passed it to a friend to see if she likes it.

hi all! I went through a sock drawer and found a few things that I wanted to chuck. Still trying to get rid of one or two things a day.

Sammysquiz · 29/01/2025 15:46

I just sold all my old Brownie & Guide badges on eBay. They’ve just been sitting in a box for years and better to be at a collector’s home who might actually enjoy having them.
I don’t think Brown Owl would approve, but I left the Guides 30 years ago so it’s time to let them go 😁

I've lost count, but I'm going to just list things and maybe I can see all my posts easier on a laptop to add them up, when I replace the charger.

Just got rid of the Henry hoover which the cleaner broke. I listed it for free on a FB group and someone commented straight away and came and picked it up! He said he can fix it as he used to work with them and they broke a lot. I was hesitant to list as thought I'd look ridiculous posting a broken hoover but so glad it's been saved from landfill!

I've bought a robot vacuum to save money on useless cleaners who break hoovers haha, so that's a whole lot of space freed up and I gave him the vacuum bags I had as well. House is feeling a whole lot more manageable as well.

Oh I also chucked out a pen the other day which my mum bought me for my birthday. It was a cheapo pen from flying tiger and was all she bought me for my birthday, and it was just a reminder of what a narcissist she's been my whole life. It was not even a style I'd ever choose for myself and for my brother in the summer she got him a nice well thought out book on a topic he's very fond of. So I know it was deliberate. I was using the pen for my journalling, as it was useful in its function as a pen, but it was just bugging me and the design was scraping off already, so I chucked it and felt somewhat freer.

Riverswims · 29/01/2025 19:39

2 more bundles gone on Olio
nearly lost my aligner again 🦷

Bloody well done on this one @Christmasandallthetrimmings

Glad you feel better for tossing it. Stuff like that can really pull your mood down. You deserve so much better 💓

Great stuff @Christmasandallthetrimmings. We definitely don’t need anything that drags us down.

Christmasandallthetrimmings · 29/01/2025 21:59

Thank you @HellonHeels and @Realfastfoodie . We really don't, do we?

stealthninjamum · 30/01/2025 12:31

I’m sure I’ve only had about a week off and you lot did about 136 posts. Amazing work!

I have been home schooling dd2 so some books have come in. I can’t remember if I said that I have decluttered two cookbooks (because I bought one). I’ve also got rid of two pairs of jeans. Dd2 is still sleeping (her sleep is all over the place) so I’ve been sorting through all her paperwork. She has had so many assessments over the years that they no longer fitted in a large ring binder so I have bought a sort of concertina type folder which is amazing. It has 13 pockets and expands from being very small to very large. So that’s stationery come into the house but hopefully it should be helpful. Dd2 has been rejected from a number of schools that can’t meet her needs - we have an ehcp - so I’m appealing and asking for payment for tutors. So I definitely needed to organise my paperwork.

Christmasandallthetrimmings · 30/01/2025 13:52

Chucked some leaky kids' wellies in the bin. I've managed to mitigate all my clutter to one room now, so it's just that room I need to work through. Although I'm avoiding going in there as it looks like a squat.

However, the rest of the house is starting to feel a lot calmer and peaceful. Especially knowing I can switch the robot vac on and any crumbs from DD will just get sorted out. Catching up with the couple of actual mountains of clothes washing which I neglected whilst deep cleaning and deep decluttering, oh and Christmas 😂

IndianSummer78 · 30/01/2025 13:53

One shrunken trousers and scratchy top gone.
Total is 3152

CheesePlantFeet · 30/01/2025 13:53

Bloody well done @Christmasandallthetrimmings

Out today: 1 top, 1 towel, 2 jars of expired food from the fridge

Total 158

HellonHeels · 30/01/2025 19:00

Today's outs:

Linen dress that doesn't suit me
Decorative dish that's pretty but too much stuff, so someone else can love it
2 text/workbooks to recycling
Used up an eyebrow pencil, a few more in the stash so it counts as an out

Total: 158

Still plodding away at lip balms, body lotions, serums blah blah

HellonHeels · 30/01/2025 19:06

Forgot to add, I've had a financial declutter. Paid off outstanding CC balances except one that's on interest free for 30 months. Focusing on paying that down and on paying off a bank loan (car loan) quickly.

I'm on a good salary now but used up a lot of savings when I had 4 months out for medical stuff, took out car loan when I got the new job, and now paying for a load of dental treatment, so balances built up. I feel quite ashamed about the debts so getting rid feels good.

heartbroken22 · 30/01/2025 23:42

@HellonHeels that's great well done! We have car loan and cc loan too. Seems like everywhere I look people are trying to save money or pay off loans.

IncessantNameChanger · 30/01/2025 23:43

I'm still neck deep in ehcp stuff. I need to set aside a day to list more on Vinted. After that I need to do a charity shop run. Bought dd more school uniform snd my ins for Jan are 23! I said I'd only buy 100 things this year. Tut tut

heartbroken22 · 30/01/2025 23:44

2 electric toothbrushes out today 104 total for the year.

HellonHeels · 31/01/2025 08:42

@IncessantNameChanger you can't count school uniform as buying "things" I reckon you should let yourself off the hook with that.

JK3 · 31/01/2025 11:18

Outs today:

2 hoodies
a kids’ toy
2 bathroom fittings I bought that won’t fit so returned to the shop
1 book
Another pile of ‘art work’
a dress
a pair of trousers
5 books
an unwanted gift to a friend

total for 2025 = 225
