Olio and Freecycle collectors do have a bad rep for messing around 🤬

We've had a house cleaning binge and the place.looks a bit less of a shit tip. DBoyfriend invited friends for lunch tomorrow which seems to have put a rocket under him, he even recycled some magazines. However I'm only counting my own outs, so:

Trash / recycled:
Large box I'd kept for the cats but they didn't sit in this one 🤯
Mouldy mini-loofah found under the bath
Nasty oily jar from sundried tomatoes (has sat on worktop for weeks)
Vommed-on cat bed, no longer usable
2 worn out cat toys
Used up a posh scented candle (plenty more to go...)
Recycled some hospital letters and work papers
Dead light bulb

Donations:
Cloth bag
Portable desk caddy thing that doesn't work for me
1 book

2 pairs kids shoes

70isaLimitNotaTarget · 25/01/2025 23:54

I have done some decluttering this week too

Sheets
Some of DH Tshirts

Just gone through some toiletries and chucked out two mini haircare products

I have some kitchenware to recycle and a hairdryer ( Dunelm is my port of call for these )

It is easier to recycle a bit at a time , I can send someone off to the Charity Shop with a bag rather than me driving with a bootfull but it depends how organised I am .

IndianSummer78 · 26/01/2025 05:40

One "useful" box
One lot of used bubble wrap
One damaged cube unit box

Total is 3150

ememem84 · 26/01/2025 09:14

Took a bag of toiletries and make up on my mums night oit last night. The others had a lovely time choosing. All unused. All gifted to me by a lovely friend who is a beauty hoarder.

Pigtailsandall · 26/01/2025 13:09

Day 26 declutter- pile of gift bags. Went through them all and got rid of several. Asking DH to do the totebags as they are mainly his.

Riverswims · 26/01/2025 14:28

3 old drawers
old sheet and old random taken to the appropriate places at the dump
couldn’t get into the storage so car full of stuff 🙄

Maeploy · 26/01/2025 22:54

2 mugs out - they were a novelty gift and just an old shape and can only be handwashed. Think we've had them 10yrs and used them twice

JK3 · 27/01/2025 09:53

Only 5 items out yesterday - birthday badges, from three years ago

Total = 170

Vinorosso74 · 27/01/2025 10:10

@ememem84 pleased to hear your chemo is all done. I hope all goes smoothly with your surgery and recovery. It's a long haul but I remember feeling like the end of each phase was a milestone achieved.
No major outs here. Did a lot of tidying yesterday so various bits into rubbish/recycling. I have sorted things into bags so feel less chaotic.
Job for tomorrow is to clean out the fridge.

TidyClutterIsStillClutter · 27/01/2025 11:15

Twelve odd socks in the ragbag.

Maeploy · 27/01/2025 12:00

Empty lotion out. Reorganised my tops - 2 are in the maybe pile

HellonHeels · 27/01/2025 15:41

Used up a travel conditioner
Finished another scented candle
2 entirely destroyed cat toys

Donated silver propelling pencil

I've also found a home in an archive for some historic family photos, not counting them yet as not sent.

Total: 146 Slow progress

Riverswims · 27/01/2025 18:44

another day nearly gone, still waiting for the olio-er

Realfastfoodie · 27/01/2025 19:03

Made a big pile of kids clothes to go. Going to try to tackle this evening.

IDareSay · 27/01/2025 19:43

2025 decluttering
W/E 26/01
2025 – (107 + 45 = 152) = 1873 to go

Digital decluttering
Phone contacts S, R, Q, P, N
Gmail folders Q, P* = 7*

Broken/unusable: camera gadget, small brush, sink plunger, another travel mug = 4

Recycling bin/waste bin: Scented candle x 4, out of date Worcestershire sauce (Oct 22!), batteries x 3, socks 5 pairs, make up items x 1, stained plastic containers x 6, rechargeable batteries 12 = 32

Recycling centre: 2 big bags garden rubbish = 2

Charity shop: still accumulating in a box in the study. I'll count it when it leaves the house. Really must take it soon as there are now two overflowing boxes, but the shop we usually use is being refurbed. Opens again on Wednesday this week thank goodness.

Still just 21 kitchen cupboards/drawers fettled, must crack on with the rest.

I have listed some stuff on Vinted today and had my first sale within minutes!

Realfastfoodie · 27/01/2025 19:58

Well done @IDareSay! I’ve just had another sale - totally out of the blue!

CheesePlantFeet · 27/01/2025 22:09

Out today: 3 toiletry bottles

Sold: 10 x picture frames, 1 dress

Total 154

JK3 · 27/01/2025 22:28

pile of kids comics (will count as one)
kids ‘artwork’ recycled
2 annoying flag things to make noises in crowds at events 🙄

total 174

HellonHeels · 28/01/2025 09:51

I'm making an effort to use up things like lip balm, moisturiser, body cream. I never really used stuff like this, my skin does look better for it but I find it such hard going. I need to use the body ones as I have surgery scars and fried/tight post-radiotherapy tissue.

Lip balms I seem to have loads of, gifts or freebies. Donated some unused ones and plodding through using the rest.

Outs:
1 chipped glass
2 sherry glasses that we don't use
Empty "useful" box

Total: 150

Pigtailsandall · 28/01/2025 10:23

Day 28 declutter- freebie Tote bag which we used a few times but don't really need. I packed all the clothes from the last few days' declutter and dropped it off to the charity shop on school run. Felt good!

I also took a few things to be mended after ages of umming about it. They'd been in that "to be sorted" pile for ages and I thought it's either time to recycle them or mend them.

OP posts:
Vinorosso74 · 28/01/2025 14:29

I have both cleared and cleaned the fridge out! Eight jars with hardly anything left which were out of date/mouldy/been there ages have gone. That shelf has a lot more space now.A few other bits went out too.
I need to tackle the freezer and cupboards but I'm waiting until we've used more stuff up.
Soft plastics all dropped off at Sainsburys too.

EllieQ · 28/01/2025 20:19

Day 26 of 31 days of decluttering: DH did another batch of shredding, which I’ll count as 1, and added 4 books to the charity bag.

Day 27 and day 28: nothing, though I have been clearing out my locker at work as I’ll be in another office building in my new role. This has mainly involved returning my stationery stash to the stationery cupboard and recycling some old notebooks.

Total for January: 114
