Flying out of summer (what summer?!)

Welcome to this long running thread, we may seem clicky, but all are welcome to join in!

Do NOT sign up for the Flylady emails - it's an excessive amount sent every day.

There are Baby Steps for starting out, add one thing at a time to start good habits and routines.

There are 5 zones that we will rotate through, don't worry about finishing it all this month, it'll come around again next month! Flylady is NOT about perfectionism!

Habit of the month of August is Laundry

Daily missions: each day of the week has a different mission.

• Monday: Home Blessing (or as we call it, home bleugh)
• Tuesday: plan & play
• Wednesday: anti-procrastination
• Thursday: errand day
• Friday: clean car & purse out and date night (what's that again?? 🤔)
• Saturday: family fun day
• Sunday: renew your spirit

Common acronyms we use:

• LOL: load of laundry (washing is certainly NOT funny!)
• DW: dishwasher, we are not rotating wives by any means, although an extra pair of hands could come in handy sometimes 😆
• LMS: lose/lost my shit
• DNLMS: did not lose my shit

I'm sure there's more I haven't mentioned, feel free to ask us to explain something. I'll try to update links every day, although if you can, it's worth downloading the app, you can even have it send you notifications (although I only have it for when the zones change).

I like the app as it has a tick list and I love a list.

Links are below 👇 and I'll tend to post the links the night before ready for the next day.

if you suddenly did need this thing, can you replace it for less than £20 in less than 20 minutes?
I'd have to keep everything it takes 30 to 40mins minimum just to get to a shop 😂😂😂

So much chaos here. Weevils, missing paperwork, still sorting stuff for building work, chronic illness flare.

BloomingHazel · 26/09/2023 19:20

Ooh, Sing those are some good questions! I forgot about them.

pompoms I hope your DC are on the mend soon 💐

Must run - I'll be back with ta das later

BloomingHazel · 27/09/2023 00:57

Bathroom tile so far..

Flying out of summer (what summer?!)
DomesticElf · 27/09/2023 01:54

Hazel impressive ta das. I love those bathroom tiles, looks great!
Pompoms I hope your little one is feeling better soon. It's always worrying when they are unwell.
Hills keep swimming.

YesTaDas:
Keeping up with all routines and usual getting food on the table.

Planning to do some zone cleaning on Thursday. Living room is not too bad, but needs few hotspots put out, proper dusting, and sofa needs spot cleaning.

partypompoms · 27/09/2023 07:01

@BloomingHazel love that bathroom. What a relief it's all getting going.

Very quiet day with sick child but once they were in bed I did hoover in the sofas. I wasn't going to. I told myself I was off the hook but then I thought no, it's only five minutes and I just did it so I was pretty proud for achieving that and having a stern talking to myself.

WEDNESDAY: anti procrastination day

Bollocks. Lost a whole post. Too tired and mumpish to retype it. Headlines are, still ill, but Mum is coming out of hospital today. So lovely to read you all achieving things, sorry to hear about Poorly People and Big Life Questions.

💐 for everyone because you are all working so hard and deserve rewards.

partypompoms · 27/09/2023 20:12

THURSDAY:
Errand day

www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60&d=1

Mission:

Check the floors in your living room. Look at that two inches all they way around the walls and baseboards that seems to get missed with the vacuum and the broom. Your mission today is to use the vacuum and really concentrate on that area, you can also use a vegetable or toilet bowl brush (not the ones that you are currently using on veggies or the toilet, lol)to loosen the hair and dirt that gets caught up against the wall.

OP posts:
DomesticElf · 27/09/2023 20:37

Balloon hooray to your DM being discharged from hospital! Hoping your recovery is swift.
Pompoms that's exemplary flying, even with a sick child.

Ta das:
⏲️Living room hot spots put out
⏲️Properly dusted and antibac-ed
⏲️Washed sofa blankets
⏲️Wiped fingerprints from all affected surfaces

McBaby had his first set of vaccines today, so he is feeling rather miserable and is demanding lots of cuddles. Toddler is being very toddler. I need 🍷

JewelleryCat · 27/09/2023 21:07

Hi, can I join please? I’ve just found Flylady and I did subscribe to the emails before I saw this thread. I do like her way of doing things but I’m very slow right now

Today I vacuumed, sorted some things for the laundry tomorrow, cleaned the surfaces and that’s about it but I’d like to do to more each day if I can

Like she says “it didn’t get dirty in a day, it won’t get clean in a day”

DomesticElf · 27/09/2023 21:17

Hi Cat, welcome! The good thing with Flylady is that you are never behind. I'd say start small, her Baby Steps is a good starting point.

JewelleryCat · 27/09/2023 21:34

Hi Cat, welcome! The good thing with Flylady is that you are never behind. I'd say start small, her Baby Steps is a good starting point.

Thank you for the welcome :) oh good, so I don’t have to make a mad dash clearing to catch up then? That’s good to know and I’ll look at her Baby Steps

HillsBesideTheSea · 28/09/2023 00:59

I am at the point where i don't want to keep swimming, i want to inflict pain, death and destruction on the hell that is this sodding building site. Unfortunately that would result in more building site work and thus i would be in an even worse level of chaos.

Anyone want to swap me toddler minding for building work chaos taming? <sigh>

ta da
did not set anything on fire

SingToTheSky · 28/09/2023 07:50

Welcome cat 😀

Tuesday
🚑got up early and prepped for work event while getting ready

🛞home ed
🛞took Cagletini swimming, just us two, it was lovely
🛞Asda on the way home

No energy for today but should get up really. Not sure what I’m doing this morning but later I’m meeting DS in the next town after his lesson to get the train from there, and I’m seeing my friend who lives near his college again. Which is good as I could certainly use a hug 🤗

And that reminds me I didn’t keep up with counting my blessings, the last few days has been emotionally taxing to say the least.
🌈I have amazing friends. Most notably my work friends, being in a team with two of my best friends (there are some projects that mean we get to work just the three of us) is just awesome

po3.1
❗️Breakfast, water and vitamins
❗️Put air dried clothes away
❗️Shower and hair wash

CherryogDog · 28/09/2023 09:53

Morning 🌄 everyone 👋
I'm still in the naughty corner/ sick bay.
I've got the BT engineer coming out on Monday and I'm getting anxious about getting the downstairs clean and presentable, hopefully I'll get away with dumping everything in a box and putting it out of sight and a quick hoover round.
My cough/virus/plague whatever is not too bad but I've been floored with a fibro flare and all I can cope with is the bare minimum of looking after the menagerie.
Welcome cat, I've not been here long, and when I'm not ill I'm always out of kilter with the routines, but there's been a huge improvement and its nice to chat on here.

partypompoms · 28/09/2023 12:43

@JewelleryCat welcome to the thread. I normally post the bullet points the following day. Having said that someone else is taking over the new thread. We start a new one each month and the link will be posted on here for the October thread.

@HillsBesideTheSea I don't know how you cope. We have a man putting in an extractor fan and I can't stand that.

✅ hula hooping
✅ detailed clean of living room.
✅ dusted bedrooms.
✅ decluttered a couple of items

Planning on relaxing with the kids on the sofa for the rest of that day. We are in the middle ground of not really being well enough for school but not ill enough to stay home. If I was working she'd be straight in school!
But a film and crochet is on the list.

BloomingHazel · 28/09/2023 17:16

Cat welcome! Just let us know if you have any questions. Flylady is all about building routines and starting with one thing, then adding to it, so no need to feel behind.

Sing it's really good that you get on so well with your coworkers, it really helps!

Cherry 💐 Hopefully you'll feel better soon from your flare up.

pompoms is tough when they are at that in-between stage of sick and well

Things are progressing at the house, tile is done, plumber should be about done now too. This weekend and next week we'll have to do some rearranging. I'll try to get some decluttering done in the process. The less we'll have to move, the better!

JewelleryCat · 28/09/2023 18:32

Hi all, thanks for the welcome 😀I haven’t done that much today unfortunately but every day is a new day isn’t it? I’ve just done a bit of vacuuming today and that’s about it

partypompoms · 28/09/2023 20:44

FRIDAY: www.flylady.net/c/fp.php?tzm=-60&d=1

✅ clean out car and purse day

✅ Mission: Today is the last day of the Living Room Zone. Your mission for today is to place something pretty in the room that is just for you. I am thinking of some lovely flowers that are from your garden or a small bouquet that you can purchase for just a few dollars. Maybe you have a lovely arrangement or plant somewhere in your home that would be just perfect in your freshly decluttered living room!

OP posts:
DomesticElf · 28/09/2023 21:42

Ta das:
🌿pruned a ficus plant in the living room. That thing is more like a tree, and leaks latex sap, so pruning is a messy job
🌿LOLx2

Since I am also scrubbing up my appearance lately, I decided to splash out on fancy wellies. I was aiming for country chic, ended up more pus in boots.

Tomorrow aiming to redo one of the fishtanks, aided by toddler. I may live to regret it..

SingToTheSky · 29/09/2023 07:53

Can anyone rename who said they were taking over the thread for October?

OP posts:
HillsBesideTheSea · 29/09/2023 20:27

I have a vague idea but do not want to speak for anyone. If it is who i think it is they will pop up and sort the thread by the end of tomo. Worst comes to worst we migrated mid day on Sunday. it will work out.

EquallyDetermined · 29/09/2023 20:34

It was me, I'm lurking! It has been a busy month but we are settling back into a routine with the new term and I want to get back to Flying properly, I'll get a new thread going tomorrow.
