@DollyPartBaked i tend to sit around scanning all the books with ziffit and webuybooks and then sell each book to the one who offers the most. I’m delighted that music magpie want 15 even if they are paying about 6p for each book. It means I’m going to be selling 53 books and DVDs for £20 which should be about four boxes. The key thing is they get collected. Im about to box them up now as I literally have piles of books everywhere and the mess is getting to me.

Elenorrigbywoes · 22/04/2022 10:48

I took on some DIY jobs yesterday and had a productive day. I put two cups, two candle holders, a Teddy and some other bits into a charity bag - need to drop them off tomorrow.
I swept under the furniture and found random bits of plastic which went straight into the bin - I would usually try and find where they belong. I am hoping downstairs will be in fairly good order when I go back to work on Monday.

LivingInaBuildingSite · 22/04/2022 11:42

@ememem84 - how annoying!!

have put 3 old items of clothing into the textile recycling
and binned a broken whoopee cushion (thanks MIL 🙄)

am trying to crack on with paperwork today, not getting very far, everything always takes longer than you think.

I've had to name-change slightly to get back on the thread, and I can't search my pevious posts to see where I was in the process. So I've decided to try and treat this as a fresh start, and hoping that the beautiful weather will spur me on to better things.

LOs both growing so fast that very few things still fit. That will be the first category to sort through (because it's the easiest). Only replacing absolute essentials, so that should thin out the wardrobes a bit.

LB wants me to read to him every night and atm is enjoying my DCs' ancient Buttons comics. I can sneak them into the recycling bin bit by bit afterwards.

Vinorosso74 · 22/04/2022 12:18

Getting back on board after not being around much over the Easter holidays.
Dropped a bag off at the charity shop this morning and two small notebooks finished (I use them for shopping lists).
DD seemed to get a lot of Easter eggs/chocolate from people we saw over the holidays so they are taking over part of the kitchen. She is doing a good job of decluttering them!

DollyPartBaked · 22/04/2022 13:53

@Vinorosso74 i decluttered the end of a bottle of baileys left over from Christmas yesterday!

LivingInaBuildingSite · 22/04/2022 13:55

Haha I recently decluttered my Christmas baileys too!

wishing the kids would hurry up with Decluttering the Easter eggs though.

have managed some long overdue paperwork jobs, still more to do. Not exactly Decluttering, but Decluttering my to do list!

stealthninjamum · 22/04/2022 14:09

Four boxes of books are taped up and ready to be collected by ziffit. I realised music magpie and webuy books won’t pick up my other books because they’re giving me less than £5. Last night I started scanning every book I could find!

in up to 840 items but realise my target of getting up to 2022 in a month is optimistic.

DollyPartBaked · 22/04/2022 15:57

Getting rid of some toys listed yesterday today and went through the DCs clothes (unfortunately a lot is in and out of the loft rather than actually out of the house).

Think I actually need to tidy today!

Sexnotgender · 22/04/2022 19:22

Listed some jewellery on eBay and took 3 bags to the textile recycling bin.

DreamloverTealover · 23/04/2022 08:27

Sold a book via Vinted this week and hopefully got someone collecting a Perfect Prep machine today 🤞 pleased with this.

SquirrelFan · 23/04/2022 10:54

Hello, may I join? I don't have a goal as such but things are getting a little cluttery over here. Inspired by the thread , I've made a start! 4 items of clothing and 9 books are sitting by the door, and I have another bag of books waiting to be donated to a school.
Thank you all for your inspiration and great tips!

LivingInaBuildingSite · 23/04/2022 18:27

Went through a travel wash bag and got rid of various old meds, boxes, old cosmetic type stuff I won’t use, about 10 things.

Plus a tshirt of Dh into the recycling.

and a quick blitz in Dd’s room (pigsty!), lots of paper recycling and old sweet packets 🧐, about 10ish items out

I donated two cups, two candle holders, two small plates, a toy, two skirts and pjs to a small charity shop on my way to an activity today. I dumped ten items from the bathroom -.mostly opened and half used lotions and potions.
I keep saying to myself as I dump and donate - you can't clean clutter and it is keeping me motivated! I think I need to cleanse the house of 20 items tomorrow and I will have cleared 100 items this week which was my aim.

londonmummy1966 · 23/04/2022 23:12

@SquirrelFan - welcome - sunds like you made a good start. All I've managed to throw away today was an old shoe box. Tomorrow is a big out as DD2 goes back to school with loads of stuff so hopefully will get the decluttering mojo back afterwards!

Just checking in, we have been making progress! There is a lot more space in the office now although its still full of boxes of stuff. It means we were able to vacuum properly for the first time in ages and its made such a difference. Crazy to think we probably spend the most amount of time in this room and its the dustiest and most cluttered!

I've listed everything that is 2 sizes too small for me on Vinted and have made some sales, I'm going to invest the funds into a decent waterproof coat.

ememem84 · 24/04/2022 08:55

I’ve never sold on vinted. Is it worth it?

our post office here (jersey) has decided we all need to do online customer forms now before taking anything there to post. Which is an absolute pain in the arse. We also have to pay vat (supposedly) on any gifts over £35. This seemingly includes all post. Because if I send something it just gets clogged in customs at the other side. Booo.

ememem84 · 24/04/2022 09:06

Although saying that. Have listed a bracelet on eBay just now. Will see how we go.

DollyPartBaked · 24/04/2022 18:32

Hi everyone.

Not made huge progress this weekend - threw out some old baby creams / products that I've had for years - asked myself that question from a slob comes clean about if I needed X would I look for it? And the answer was no so got rid of.

I've added some very tired PJs to the clothes recycling bag and a couple of bits to the charity bag (yet to leave the house!). Hoping to see a friend this week to get rid of some baby clothes we've outgrown!

Hope you've all had decent weekends!

londonmummy1966 · 24/04/2022 20:41

Slightly better day today as I tackled a couple of baskets lurking in the conservatory. A bag of old cushions in the bin, a bag of textile recyling in the car boot and a bag of things for the charity shop. Also a couple of things to list on ebay. One of the empty baskets can now be used to store the cushions for the garden chairs so they are now tidy too.

I managed to find 20 books and 2 video games that music Magpie will buy off me and I’m pleased that they were offered loads more money so I have reached the £5 limit. Next week I’ll be sending 43 books (more if I can find any) to music magpie. So with the ziffit books that’ll be 87 collected from my doorstep.

i also still have a big pile of books to go to a charity shop too.

I’ve got admin and stuff to do next week but if I get time I’m intending to Kondo the top of dd1s wardrobe. There is a shelf rammed with stuff. Dd1 refuses to look at it but I thought if I put in on her bed she’ll have to deal with it.

stealthninjamum · 25/04/2022 10:41

Progress with children’s books. Dd2 agreed this morning that I could get rid of the Rainbow Fairy books. So far I have counted 33. I’m hoping to get my ‘outs’ to 1000 this week although obviously a load haven’t left the house.

WildBlueAndDitzy · 25/04/2022 11:54

It hasn't gone anywhere yet because the bag isn't full and there's more to do. But. One box of tiny baby clothes has been halved! This has taken a few months because it's emotional and I've needed to carefully consider each item and take time deciding.

londonmummy1966 · 25/04/2022 13:00

@stealthninjamum - if you have the full set of Rainbow Fairies that is probably your 1000 outs right there! I absolutely loathed them and DD2 went through a phase of reading nothing else.......
