I usually do 1-2 a day but bedding and towels today so will have more. There's no way I could do 7 though my washer takes 3 hours per wash!

Prob about 3. I need to strip beds and have abt 2 loads in the wash bin

Harpydragon · 03/10/2021 10:13

I tend to do 1 load a day/ every other day, 2 adults and a17 year old. Towels and cloths, white load, black load, blue/green load, red/brown load. It works for us!

MrsFin · 03/10/2021 10:19

@HungryHippo11

How do you make so much washing? I think a lot of people wash bedding and towels once a week or even more frequently. Some wash towels and clothing after every use.
I can't believe how much washing and tumble drying people do these days. It's no wonder the planet is in crisis!

2 kids plus 2 adults in this house. We do nothing like 7 loads a week.

It won't kill anyone to use a towel more than once - even a gym towel, and beds don't need to be changed weekly. You can wear clothes several times too before you wash them (except underwear).

SprogletsMum · 03/10/2021 10:19

There's 6 of us here, the washing is endless!

WormYourHonour · 03/10/2021 10:24

Kinda makes me realise that my efforts are completely and entirely pointless and I may as well not bother trying to reduce use and waste and electric etc.

Comedycook · 03/10/2021 10:26

Two yesterday...white and darks.

Will do two today...colours and towels

Routinely do 2/3 loads a day. I'm screwed if I miss a day,!

Fizbosshoes · 03/10/2021 10:26

I'm a saddo unreasonably pleased that this term I've worked out a laundry schedule that is 2 x dark loads and 1 x pale load per week for 4 of us.(barring any unforseen incidents or spillages) I work it round pe days and sports kit (shirts and bedding at the weekend)

Fizbosshoes · 03/10/2021 10:27

I'm doing 1 load of laundry today

THOSEcobwebsareDECOR · 03/10/2021 10:28

There are 8 of us

First load is in

Ill let you know

Quornflakegirl · 03/10/2021 10:29

Zero, I did two on Friday and one yesterday. Will have a small load to do tomorrow.
We’re a family of 4 and I do 5 loads a weeks including towels and bedding.

megletthesecond · 03/10/2021 10:31

I need to do three. I think I can get it all on the line.
I wash every day.

dementedpixie · 03/10/2021 10:31

I will do 1 or 2 today but I do at least 1 load each day anyway. Dh and I go to the gym most week days, ds has rugby 4 days and then there's the school wear/normal clothes to wash too. I dont have a tumble dryer

noblegreenk · 03/10/2021 10:32

I do approx 4-5 loads per week.
White wash, dark wash, towels, bedding. Plus another wash for other items so one week it might be cushion covers, another week it could be shower curtains etc.

SickAndTiredAgain · 03/10/2021 10:34

7?! I don’t do 7 in a week!

I do about 4 a week.

StarryStarrySocks · 03/10/2021 10:35

None. I do 2 loads a week and only wash bedding, towels etc when I get round to it/when they are actually dirty, rather than on a schedule.

Same here. We use towels a few times before putting in the wash. There's 4 of us , 2 x tween/teen and 2 adults. I would aim for 3-4 loads of washing per week. I'm fortunate that we have space for a drying rack so I rarely use the tumble dryer.

I know how you feel, but your efforts are not pointless. Everyone else needs to realise how ridiculous they're being.

I don't know when exactly we started being so precious about "germs". Advertising has got a lot to do with it. But people need to realise that not everything we wear (or eat) has to be completely sterile.
This obsession is killing both us and the planet.

LindaEllen · 03/10/2021 10:38

Absolutely none. It's beautiful now DSS has gone to uni, as he used to change his clothes about 40 times a day and use a fresh towel for each of his 3 showers..

Now, DP and I will do one white and one dark wash each week and that's us.

I'm sure we'll get a huge load of DSS's washing when he visits home, though!!!

BrilliantBulb · 03/10/2021 10:42

I do either bedding or towels each week. So both go two weeks before being washed.

Honestly @Theoldwoman I would see if you can reduce it a bit. 7 in one day and then even more throughout the week is a extreme.

MaverickDanger · 03/10/2021 10:45

We use an eco wash & don’t have a tumble dryer. The amount of people who told us we’d need one with a baby, but we’ve survived!

Our bedding is washed every 2 weeks, DS’ more frequently depending on any accidents & then we do 2 dark washes and 1 whites a week. Towels & tea towels etc in with the most soiled dark clothes.

Some people must make folding their washing a full-time job!

RedCyclamens · 03/10/2021 10:49

How did you manage to do 7 loads by 10 am in the morning (quite jealous as have multiple loads to go through myself but limited drying space). When did you start washing and how long is one cycle? Genuinely baffled Smile
tinkerbellvspredator · 03/10/2021 10:49

We tend to do most laundry on Sundays. Family of 4, about 7-8 washes per week on average.

1 whites, 1 colours, 2 black clothes, don't wash bedding weekly so maybe 2 extra wash of either bedding or throws/random things (I washed trainers/sandals yesterday). Towels washed once a week - usually as two washes but now wondering if they'll all fit in 1. Cleaning cloths go in with other things.

Theoldwoman · 03/10/2021 10:51

Mine can do a 3 hr wash if that's what I chose, but it has quicker options too,
