Have you done or will you do?

I thought I didn't have much today, but did 7!!! Now to get it all folded and put away.

WhyOhWhyOhWhyyyy · 03/10/2021 11:12

How have you done 7 loads by 10am?!
I’m jealous. My washing machine cycle is 2.5 hours and it has a tiny drum so I really struggle to keep on top of the all of the laundry. I probably do 2 loads every day and still have mountains of dirty clothes everywhere.

AuntieMarys · 03/10/2021 11:13

I do 4 spin classes a week and have clean kit/ towel each time.

Ronacorona · 03/10/2021 11:13

Did 4 yesterday so that everything's dry by Monday morning. A final one today and that's it for the week.

Fizbosshoes · 03/10/2021 11:15

I am not religious about washing clothes after 1 wear (except underwear, or sports kit) but I would agree that a gym towel should be washed after a single use if its wiped down equipment etc. I don't use a gym and usually do home workouts or run so I would shower after and use a towel as normal.
I encourage the DC to change school shirts every day but trousers and skirts are definitely not changed daily. Dds skirts are expensive and evil to iron so she only has 2 of those and wears for several days, potentially even a week.

burnoutbabe · 03/10/2021 11:15

May manage 3

Duvet
Then towels
Then sheet/pillows
All in wash /tumble cycles.

Good day to do it as it's open plan lounge/kitchen so doesn't disturb anyone doing a work zoom call.

RichardMarxisinnocent · 03/10/2021 11:15

Also, how do people manage 3+ loads a day if they work full time? I don't think I've ever done more than one load in an evening after I get home from work, I want to relax after I cook and eat in the evening, not be sorting washing, repeatedly loading and unloading the washing machine, and hanging up washing to dry every hour or so.

mafted · 03/10/2021 11:16

I’ve lost sympathy for the volume of a lot of people’s washing. Every 2 weeks is perfectly fine for changing bedding. Towels don’t need to be washed after every use. Jeans can be worn more than once. Save yourselves the hassle.

I change mine and DH's bedding weekly as we don't wear Pyjamas but the kids is changed fortnightly,
We don't wash towels after every use, swimming towels get a rinse cycle though or I find they smell,
Jeans get worn for several days except DH and DS's work jeans which end up filthy,
We still create loads upon loads of washing. Our machine is quite small I think though so maybe that's part of it.

burnoutbabe · 03/10/2021 11:16

Oh and that will be it for the week. Will Do any clothes stuff next weekend.

cptartapp · 03/10/2021 11:18

Two. It's just stopped lashing it down so hung it all out and keeping a close eye on the weather. Won't use the dryer unless I absolutely have to.

Etonmessisyum · 03/10/2021 11:20

I did one yesterday, have one on and a lights to go on. A duvet to do then bedding during the week. It feels like, between bedding, towels, school uniforms etc it just never ever ends. If it’s not in the wash it’s waiting or it’s to be hung up to dry or folded then put away, I don’t really iron but I’m fed up with it. Especially as it’s so damp I can’t get stuff dry outside. Thinking about a heated airer. There’s 5 of us, youngest wets bed/incontinent so that provides me with a fair amount of washing too.

MrsFin · 03/10/2021 11:20

From The Guardian today

Since 1985, there has been a 70% increase in household water use in England as more and more homes have been fitted with showers, dishwashers and washing machines.

You've done 7 loads of laundry by 9:43am?

I'm only on my first lot because I like to actually wash my clothes rather than just rinse them through.

Snowdropsandbluebells · 03/10/2021 11:34

I do a load everyday. 2 adults 2 kids.
Sometimes I just do the sheets and pillowcases and duvet covers every other week (with sheet under)

That's a lot of work in one day for you.

SpunBodgeSquarepants · 03/10/2021 11:37

I don't even do 7 in a week! I think I do.... Maybe 4?!

5BlackDoors · 03/10/2021 11:38

We are a family of 4, but the Dcs are pre teens.

I do one load of human washing daily plus Dcs bedding 1 x week as an extra and our bedding 1 x a week as an extra. So 7 loads of human washing.

We have an old doubly incontinent dog so at least 3 loads of dog bedding a day.

DH WFH so he does the dog stuff. I put the human load on last thing at night and then iron it in front of the tv the following day.

5BlackDoors · 03/10/2021 11:39
  • sorry 9 loads of human washing incouding the bedding.

Well yeah, I feel like we do loads as well - but not 7 loads by 10am loads.
Theoldwoman · 03/10/2021 12:38

@PurBal

7 before 10am?!? How long is your cycle/what time do you get up/how big is your washing line?? I can only get 1-2 loads on the line. First load is on, contemplating a second one. Rarely do more than 3.
It's 7:30pm here Sunday, so that was all day.

Cycles range between 1.3hours and 20 minutes. My washing line holds 4-5 loads and dries very fast. I line dry everything.

@Suitcaseseverywhere

Ok. You do you. I don’t think there’s any need to be so rude but that’s up to you.

I’m disabled. Getting clothes up and down the stairs to the washer is a major ball ache -
Dd strips the beds but I wash them and hang them up to dry on the racks and pulley.

God forbid being disabled has meant I’ve had to compromise and change my life.

You just be rude and have a go at me.

I'm sorry I wasn't being rude? Not at all. You can see I was stating a fact and replying to you saying I can use/wear stuff more. Of course having a disability puts everything in a different perspective.

@RichardMarxisinnocent

I use towels way more than 3 times before washing them, and change bed sheets every 2 weeks. What do people who say this is grim think will happen to me as a result of not washing my towels and sheets as often as you?

And if you do more than 3 loads in one day and have no tumble dryer, where do you dry everything, especially when it's wet outside? I have an airer by an open window but it can only really hold 2 loads.

I do have a tumble drier but no need to use it. My line is undercover out the side of the house.

Said who? You maybe. I don't agree

So “said who” isn’t rude in your world. Okay then.

I'm only on my first lot because I like to actually wash my clothes rather than just rinse them through.

It's now 7:46pm here Sunday, so that was over the whole day.

My clothes get a perfect wash for their type/soil level.
