FLYing Babysteppers, Graduates and Newbies

CindersNeedsHelp · 26/10/2007 22:11

This is a thread for anyone who feels daunted by the grown-up FLY thread!!! Particularly those who:
Are starting FLYing (Newbies)
Have just finished babysteps (Graduates)
Or
Are experienced FLYBabies but, for whatever reason, want or need to babystep again (Babysteppers)

Here are links to the mission page, the sneak peek page and the Riley challenge page.

And those all important reminders:
Mon reminder
Tue reminder
Wed reminder
Thur reminder
Fri reminder
Sat reminder
Sun reminder

I am a babysteps graduate. I don't FLY everyday, but on the days I do, I really find it helps.

Tiger ? ditto Bienchen re lists. Plus I have a hard copy printed out to check during the day so I don?t have to keep putting PC on.

SuperMonkey ? yeah on sleeping beauty aka minimonkey!!!

And hello to Bienchen, Rebel, Funny, SA, Skribble and Flowery (if you?re out there) and any other of my MN Fly friends who I?ve missed off!

My weekly list doesn?t always get done. And I always seem to carry things over (weekly and daily) from one day to the next. However, everything is so much better than before!!! So I?m happy as I?m not trying to be perfect, just tidy.

Are anyone else's hand suffering from this FLYing lark? Mine are a real state from all the cleaning! Really dry and cracked. Shows how much cleaning I used to do .

CindersNeedsHelp · 13/11/2007 10:45

Rubber gloves when cleaning ? loads of moisturiser cream on first. Really hot water from washing up gets dishes clean plus helps skin absorb cream! Really lovely soft hands, despite more cleaning!!!!!

SuperMonkey · 13/11/2007 11:04

Good tip Cinders, have just got some rubber gloves but I like the idea of the cream at the same time.

Minimonkey is still asleep after 2 hours . I think he must be under the weather, perhaps I won't take him swimming this afternoon, especially as he's been a bit wobbly there for the last few weeks.

Bienchen · 13/11/2007 19:00

Nearly everything done today, except desk mission.

Also made cake and went swimming with DP and DD.

Thanks for the tip Cinders; I suffer really badly with cracked fingertips in the colder months and the constant handwashing with baby does not help.

Hope you all got on ok and welcome back Rebel!!

unknownrebelbang · 13/11/2007 19:23

Having the energy for the clubbing was one thing, you just go with the flow, lol, but I've suffered since, hehe. Still, only meet up with these girls 2/3 times a year so we're usually up half the night when we do get together.

It was great though, 80s music (my era), and some folk our age, so didn't feel too out of place.

Morning:
Exercise bike and get ready
En Suite and downstairs loo
Make the bed - yes!

Whenever:
Laundry - done
Mission - to do.
Hot spot - done.
Five min room rescue - done, thanks boys.
15 minutes declutter - (am still doing 30 mins a day this week to catch up). done.
15 mins metime - MN today.

Evening:
Prepare tea - dh did.
Think about tea for tomorrow - to do.
Shiny Sink (includes dishwasher/worksurfaces) - half-done.
Clothes ready for me, uniforms ready, gis need to be ironed.

unknownrebelbang · 13/11/2007 19:25

Hope minimonkey is ok, sm.

Shannaratiger · 13/11/2007 20:41

Evening

Bienchen thanks have managed to cut & paste lists, just have to type them in properly.
Cinders, thanks for the cream in glove tip, my hands feel better already - knuckles were tearing everytime i bent my fingers!
Supermonkey glad u r getting more sleep.

Have done abit more flying today. Did yesterday's & today's mission. Started sorting out the 5 boxes of paper = 2 yrs worth of bill statements etc.

Will carry on FLYing making the most of DP being at home to get extra done.

funnypeculiar · 13/11/2007 21:46

superproductive day today - did a massivo paper-sort & got eveything filed up, as well as doing really good floor cleans in bathroom & living room.
And thanks for the rubber gloes tip, conders - have been avoiding them (hate rubber gloves) but thinking of them as a beauty treatment might help

SuperMonkey · 14/11/2007 09:54

Had a superproductive day too yesterday, did everything on my list, mainly aided by mini's marathon 3 hour nap in the morning. I think he was just preparing me for the crap night's sleep he was going to have so I feel like doing nothing but drinking tea and watching telly today. He's definitely got a cold and so have I .

This is the plan but we may not get far:

Wake up
Get dressed and make up on done
Wipe bathroom
Empty dishwasher done
Check calendar done Morning
15 minute task in zone - clean downstairs loo
2 minute hotspot - pack up stuff for charity shop
5 minute room rescue - empty clutter from spare room
Wipe ensuite
Make beds
Decide on food for dinner done
Put away clean washing

Afternoon/evening
Complete one admin task
Cook dinner
Load dishwasher
Put nappies in washing machine

Bedtime
5 minute tidy up
Shine sink
Wipe kitchen
Put bin bag out
Put dishwasher on
Hang nappies to dry
Lay out clothes for the morning.

PuppyDogTails · 14/11/2007 11:19

SuperMonkey with another name change. Think I have found one that I can use elsewhere.

Bienchen · 14/11/2007 11:29

Good morning!

Puppy, I think Puppy sounds nicer than PDT! And you are staying with the animal theme... Sorry to hear you and little pup had a bad night.

Tiger - 5 boxes (gulp), that's a big admin task!

Not doing too badly for now, here goes:

Morning
Dress and make up/hair done
Walk dog done
empty dishwasher done
air rooms/make beds done
Empty washing machine,load tumble dryer
hang up washing done
Mums & Tots done
2 minute hotspot (put dry washing away) done
book appointments
5 minute room rescue (dining room) done
15 minutes movement ? walk to M&T done
What's for tea? (leftovers) done

Afternoon/evening
Read control journal and reminders
Make muesli
Kelly?s mission (clean PC screens, wipe bathroom door handles)
15 minute decluttering (bedroom)
15 minutes for me (?)
Cook tea ? well reheat!
Wash wooden floors
Bring garden chair in
Load dishwasher
Load washing machine
Check calendar for tomorrow done

Bedtime
Put dishwasher/wmmachine on
Shine sink
Put clothes out for tomorrow
2 min hotspot (basket by bed)

funnypeculiar · 14/11/2007 19:26

Like the new name, puppy
Another good day in the peculiar house - did an intensive shower clean using cinder's new rubber gloves & handcream technique ... and spent the rest of the day stroking the back of my hands - top tip!

PuppyDogTails · 14/11/2007 20:08

Had a pretty rubbish FLYing day, little pup and I have spent the day chillin':

Wake up
Get dressed and make up on done
Wipe bathroom
Empty dishwasher done
Check calendar done Morning
15 minute task in zone - clean downstairs loo
2 minute hotspot - pack up stuff for charity shop done
5 minute room rescue - empty clutter from spare room
Wipe ensuite
Make beds
Decide on food for dinner
Put away clean washing done Afternoon/evening
Complete one admin task
Cook dinner Had a takeaway
Load dishwasher done
Put nappies in washing machine done Bedtime
5 minute tidy up
Shine sink
Wipe kitchen
Put bin bag out
Put dishwasher on
Hang nappies to dry
Lay out clothes for the morning.

Hopefully we'll be back on track tomorrow. On the other hand, it's nice that FLYing has got the house to the stage where I can have a day relaxing and not worrying about how scruffy the place is. There's very little big stuff left to do downstairs and it's rather nice (still plenty of upstairs and attic clutter to attack in due course though!).

Hope everyone's well.

unknownrebelbang · 14/11/2007 20:48

CindersNeedsHelp · 15/11/2007 19:09

Have been spending time with DS, so feeling rather lax at FLYing at the mo. I still have to catch up on all this week?s missions but I am up to date on my Weekly Home Blessing activities. I haven?t decluttered in ages and my hotspots are getting very hot again.

So in addition to the daily routine, which I am doing really well now (blowing my own trumpet) I have my home blessing activity which is to dust/sweep/mop living room and I want to try to get around to sorting out the paperwork. Don?t think I?ve quite got five boxes (gulp) but it?s enough! But I also want to do the missions, especially round my PC, so I might not manage everything!

flowerybeanbag · 15/11/2007 19:31

hello all!

This is the first time I have even peeked since I last posted. Have had a quick skim through thread, thank you for nice thoughts everyone and thank you rebel for emailing as well.

I am not too bad, have not been well though. Apparently I am not anaemic, so as I still have symptoms have now had another blood test this time to see if I have an underactive thyroid. Will get results tomorrow but I'm not convinced, I don't have most of the symptoms for an underactive thyroid I can find on the internet.

More scarily, on Monday morning I kept blacking out. DH had to stay home as I was terrified of dropping DS, and we went to the doctors (again). He couldn't find anything wrong, and of course although it had been happening all morning it didn't happen for him to observe.

He did say it sounded like (some funny name beginning with v), but helpfully there is no reason for it other than it is often a sign of being run down .

So no further on really, just wait and see.

FlYing is not going brilliantly but my excuse is I have no kitchen at the moment . New one almost in, should be there by the weekend hoorah!

Hope you are all doing well, have only skimmed so sorry if missed any news, and monkey what the devil is going on are you having an identity crisis?

systemsaddict · 15/11/2007 22:01

Hey flowery nice to see you! Was it vasovagal attacks perchance? A friend of mine at uni had them - seemed to translate to meaning 'you faint once in a while but it's nothing to worry about'!

oops, if I end up posting garbage it's because cat wants her evening biscuits and keeps sitting on the keyboard ...

anyway FLYing here in its minimal sense is going well - third or fourth night in a row I have gone to bed with all washing up done and sink shined, and I've been doing little missions - the bathroom fixtures are clean, cat litter box has been cleaned out (v. carefully with gloves on of course, dp does the daily scoop while I'm pregnant but he hates it and I can't really expect him to do the detailed clean, she is my cat after all), bath mat cleaned, washing machine cleaned out, lots of little jobs making a big difference.

I must be more on top of things as I baked today! following help from mumsnet on what would be an easy thing to produce for ds' nursery's Children in Need bake sale. Sadly he has just been sick in his cot so may not go in tomorrow, so I may have to eat all the biscuits myself

funnypeculiar · 15/11/2007 22:01

Hey, welcome home FBB Wow, scary about your blackouts - good luck with the tests (I had a mate with underactive thyroid -can't remember much on her symptoms other than she lost lots of weight )

Not a very good flying day (jammed the hoover with one of dd's dolls jumpers!) but managed to do the basics at least, and clothes ready for tommorrow

unknownrebelbang · 15/11/2007 22:45

WB Flowery!

Hope DS is better tomorrow SA.

Still haven't done the weekly activity - but DS1 + 2 were getting stuff ready to pack for camp tomorrow night, and we got sidetracked, lol.

Morning:
Exercise bike and get ready
En Suite and downstairs loo
Make the bed - DH still in it.

Whenever:
Laundry - done - thanks DH.
Mission - to do.
Hot spot - done.
Five min room rescue - done.
15 minutes declutter - (am still doing 30 mins a day this week to catch up). done.
15 mins metime - yes.

Evening:
Prepare tea - done - home-made pizza by DS1.
Think about tea for tomorrow - done.
Shiny Sink (includes dishwasher/worksurfaces) - half-done.
Clothes ready for me, boys' non-uniform (two in PJs) sorted, plus the two off to camp tomorrow night - sorted! Even DS3's karate kit is ready for Saturday, lol.

PuppyDogTails · 16/11/2007 10:16

Welcome back Flowery . Lovely to see you and give DS a happy half birthday hug from me! Sorry you're not well.

Just a flying visit (no pun intended) this morning, visitors due any minute so I'm having a quick cup of tea and a browse before things kick off. I've done my basic chores and hoovered the house - it looks very very presentable .

Hope we're all well and have a good weekend if I don't catch you again.

unknownrebelbang · 16/11/2007 22:38

Exercise bike and get ready

PuppyDogTails · 17/11/2007 21:20

'Tis all very quiet. I'm still feeling a bit grotty so I'm doing the bare minimum this weekend. I'm also going to have a busy week next week preparing my useless family for the fact that DS and I are going to my folks' for a week (ie cooking meals for the freezer, ironing clothes etc). I hope for their own sake the house isn't in a state when I get back!

Well I just managed to kill a thread...

(I don't mean this one! Well I hope not anyway )

Must stop burbling..

flowerybeanbag · 18/11/2007 12:34

Having a bad weekend - DS has been ill with stomach bug, vomiting and diarrhoea, we were on the phone on and off with the out of hours doctor yesterday, didn't really feed much at all, managed to get some in him last night diluted, then slept well but when I went into him this morning he was crying wimpily and was very limp, not alert at all, couldn't get him to focus on me, not kicking, not moving really very much at all.

Frightened the life out of me! We phoned the out of hours again and they said he's probably dehydrated and weak from being ill but to bring him down to the hospital to be checked over.

We rang DH's sister who is a paediatrician to see if we should try feeding him, she said yes, we tried him with a feed to see if he would take any, not hopeful, but he drained a bottle and immediately started getting better.

He's still not himself but getting there - asleep at the moment. Relief!
Still going to be off colour for a few days though.

Update on me, it's not my thyroid, so still in the dark about that, will have to go and see the doctor yet again at some point.
