CindersNeedsHelp · 26/10/2007 22:11

This is a thread for anyone who feels daunted by the grown-up FLY thread!!! Particularly those who:
Are starting FLYing (Newbies)
Have just finished babysteps (Graduates)
Or
Are experienced FLYBabies but, for whatever reason, want or need to babystep again (Babysteppers)

Here are links to the mission page, the sneak peek page and the Riley challenge page.

And those all important reminders:
Mon reminder
Tue reminder
Wed reminder
Thur reminder
Fri reminder
Sat reminder
Sun reminder

I am a babysteps graduate. I don't FLY everyday, but on the days I do, I really find it helps.

Afternoon everyone

sm am thinking of u, spent £90 on a thigh trainer last time i needed to lose weight, was easier. lost clothes size in 90 days though
Bienchen hope visit to the school was positive & helpful.

Have so far done morning routine, nearly finished yesterdays's mission, thrown out old food from today's.
Have cleaned w/m inside & out though, fabric cond. bit wouldn't empty
taken dd to playschool with strong reminder to be good ie. no biting etc.
ds hasn't eaten any lunch, teeth really bothering him am going to sit down and give him some calpol and lots of TLC.

SuperMonkey · 07/11/2007 14:48

That's a good point Bienchen, I had forgotten about her anaemia. Flowery, if you are listening, hope you're OK!

FLYing is going reasonably well today, mission done, tea is on, 5 minutes on the unpacking and it's nearly done. The house is looking strangely cluttered though .

Bienchen · 07/11/2007 19:40

Evening all,

DP has been a star and cleaned floor in the kitchen and generally tidied up after the fitter. Also prepared dinner whilst I was at school.

DS is actually doing ok. School has massive issues with behaviour in his class; the majority of kids do not listen, talk back. And this is a school that is well respected, has top grades, etc.

DD struggling to settle this evening, too. Cold and teething not a good combination. Tiger you are in the same boat here I think.

Hearth looks nice. Concrete has to set before we can out the woodburner back in again, so that's a job for tomorrow night.

unknownrebelbang · 07/11/2007 23:04

Rushing to post and go to bed, will catch up with posts tomorrow.

Morning:
Exercise bike and get ready
En Suite and downstairs loo
Make the bed - DH still in it.

Whenever:
Laundry - done, thanks DH.
Mission - to do (tomorrow, definitely)
Hot spot - done.
Five min room rescue - done.
15 minutes declutter - (am doing 30 mins a day this week to catch up).
15 mins metime - flicking thro a catalogue, lol.

Evening:
Prepare tea - dh did.
Think about tea for tomorrow - no!
Shiny Sink (includes dishwasher/worksurfaces) - done, thanks DH.
Clothes ready for me, I hope the boys know where they've flung their uniforms!

SuperMonkey · 08/11/2007 08:31

DS has been going through a phase of waking at 4am and then struggling to go back to sleep (so I have taken to pulling him into bed with me, feeding him lying down and then eventually he goes off again).

Last night I decided to throw caution to the wind and cut out his dreamfeed - he slept through - how does that work then? Not that I'm complaining!

So we're bright eyed and bushytailed. Mission is good for me as I've started to add this to my bedtime routine (have fairly clear work tops). Holiday unpacking nearly done, still got piles of clean washing to put away so I might do that instead of the mission.

Hope we're all well.

systemsaddict · 08/11/2007 09:46

Oh how lovely to get a full night's sleep Supermonkey! I gave up on dreamfeeds with ds1 as they seemed to disturb his sleep more than help it.

Productive day yesterday, all washing up done and went to bed with clean counters in the kitchen, yay, PLUS all dry laundry put away and 2 loads hung up, and 15 minuted the bedroom and found the floor. Yay!! I'm actually enjoying getting some of this housework done now after weeks of not being able to do it, it is really nice to post things I've done rather than things I haven't. (Don't worry, this won't last!!) But thanks all for your don't overdo advice, made me keep an eye out, think I was getting into crash and burn cycle again.

Today's plan: keep up with sink; change and wash sheets on all beds; do a quick weekly-home-blessing-style vacuum.

MonkeyTrumpet · 08/11/2007 12:40

Just letting you know I've namechanged - no longer Super

Shannaratiger · 08/11/2007 12:52

Afternoon everyone

Have had a lovely morning at toddler group. Most of the older ones have moved to playgroup so little ones can really crawel without getting run over, ds is now v. tired
had a 5:45 start this mornign + dd waking up 3 times in the night got morning routine all done before going out.

Cannot believe i am on day30. have decided that the only way i can work out my routines is to have a detailed list of everything that needs cleaning/ sorting in every room. will then be able to sort out routines. have only done kitchen so far and it is so useful to be able to look at a list and know what still needs doing- that's not to say i'm going to be able to do them all!

Supermonkey u must feel so relieved to have had a good night sleep adn got all the holiday washing all washed and dried.

Systemadddict well done also on getting on top of the washing and back into the FLYing.

Anyway am going to try adn get dd & ds to have a sleep, they r both yawning their heads off.

Bienchen · 08/11/2007 13:10

MonkeyTrumpet - you are still a monkey

SA feels good that FLYing business!!

A good night's sleep is great. Incidentally, DD slept through as well but she was hard work getting her to sleep. Bright red cheeks, could be her cold, could be teeth, could be excitement to have both parents around for a day. Did you know that in a few countries babies (older ones that is of course before someone shoots me down in flames) do not get milk as last snack/meal before bedtime but some solids? DD had some potato last night.... and I recall her sleeping or at least settling better with bringing her last milk feed forward to about 5pm!

Back to FLYing: have done basic chores today, will give mission a miss as worktops got done recently and are in decent state. Our mission will be to move and reconnect the woodburner tonight. Hearth looks lovely!

MonkeyTrumpet · 08/11/2007 15:16

Miserable weather today, don't know what it's like with you. Ventured as far as Sainsbury's but that's it, staying in where it's warm and dry.

DP was working in London yesterday and brought us back of Krispy Kreme from Euston - why sad, you might say? Because I'm the only one here and I can't resist them - I've had 4 since he got home last night and the rest are winking at me. I'll never get that stone lost. Perhaps I should just eat them all then I can't worry about them any more .

That's interesting about the solids at bedtime B, I can see the logic. Minimonkey's milk still makes him sleepy at the moment which is a blessing.

So glad you're starting to feel better SA. Have you had your scan yet?

I know what you mean about the lists ST, I've done lists for each room which seem a bit daunting but actually are fairly straightforward to get through once you start. It gives you a real sense of achievement when you have got through the list too.

I'm trying to decide whether to start going to a local baby/toddler group - I think it will be good for minimonkey, but I'm not particularly sociable and I'm just worried it will be all cliquey. Perhaps I'll wait until he's crawling then I've got something to do when I'm there. ST do you enjoy yours or do you just go for the kids?

Right must get on with some FLYing, he'll be waking up soon.

CindersNeedsHelp · 08/11/2007 17:22

DS was up through the night poorly (how did I cope when he was a newborn?!?!?!?) but I have done some FLYing today.

Bienchen, I know what you mean about behavior issues in schools. Prompted me to write this!

Monkey, IMO baby/toddler groups are good for LOs but they can be cliquey. However there are usually several in one area and each has a different feel generally. Go more than once to each one to find out if you like it. Then if you don?t like any group, you can then make the choice ? grin and bear it (if minimonkey enjoys it) or not go (a no brainer if minimonkey is also unhappy). But try it first, then decide!

Phew, I?m opinionated today!!!

Hi everyone else!!

So, having now read through this thread, made a few minor comments and had a rant on another thread, I will now run off like a good girl and prepare tea. Really quick and easy stir-fry!

OP posts:
systemsaddict · 08/11/2007 21:35

Hi guys, had scan today - didn't want to mention it earlier felt like tempting fate! - all fine, baby 10+5 so due 31 May I think, just one baby (phew! I had been a bit worried about twins, what with feeling so sick compared to last time!), heart beating away strong and fast. So we feel like we can start telling people and making plans now, it's official!

Have kept up with sink and changed ds' sheets, didn't vacuum or do ours - no excuse just lazy today!

CindersNeedsHelp · 08/11/2007 21:55

SA - wonderful news!

My rant on other thread didn?t go down well!

OP posts:
MonkeyTrumpet · 08/11/2007 22:24

WONDERFUL NEWS SA

MonkeyTrumpet · 08/11/2007 22:24

For the first time in a long while you've made me feel broody!

unknownrebelbang · 08/11/2007 23:07

Good Evening everyone!

Bienchen, how old's DS?

SA - lovely, glad everything's going well. I held a friend's six week old baby yesterday - first time I'd seen her as she only came home from hospital on Monday, she was operated on the day she was born, but she's doing fine, and she's adorable, and tiny! (well compared to mine, lol) AND we've got a new baby next door - two weeks tomorrow. Yet to see him because they've had sooo many visitors.

Morning:
Exercise bike and get ready
En Suite and downstairs loo
Make the bed - well, I got out and 10 mins later DH got in it, so wasn't worth it, lol.

Whenever:
Laundry - not done today.
Mission - DH will have a list, lol.
Hot spot - done.
Five min room rescue - done.
15 minutes declutter - (am doing 30 mins a day this week to catch up). The boys helped and I now have another clear corner in the lounge!
15 mins metime - MN today.

Evening:
Prepare tea - dh did.
Think about tea for tomorrow - need to go to Tesco tomorrow.
Shiny Sink (includes dishwasher/worksurfaces) - done, thanks DH.
Clothes ready for me, I hope the boys know where they've flung their uniforms!

Skribble · 08/11/2007 23:10

Funny once a sink shiner always a sink shiner , rest has all slid though.

Bienchen · 09/11/2007 09:05

SA - what wonderful news!! Congratulations!!

Rebel - DS is 12, nearly 13 really.

Cinders - isn't it strange how your thread was immediately taken up by posters with SN interests. Yet the thread title and my post were about non SN kids

FLYing going ok but I have to post lists again from Monday as I am beginning to slack. If that's ok with you...

DP is off for a boys weekend staright after work today so won't see him until Sunday tea time. DS will be with his dad until Sun am, so it's just me and DD, the dog and our colds

DP has thoughtfully reconnected the woodburner, so I will turn into pyromaniac tonight and enjoy a blazing fire.

Shannaratiger · 09/11/2007 10:10

Have just written and then lost it
Congratulations SA.
Cinders have added my opinion to your very heated thread.
Am on Day 31
Had another early start so have completed my morning routine, have just got to put all the clean clothes away as T/D as just finished.
Have also finished my list of every cleaning/tidying job that needs doing in the flat. Hopefully will now be able to write my daily and weekly plans.

Back later

CindersNeedsHelp · 09/11/2007 12:23

Oh that other thread has got my blood boiling. One woman has all but accused me of being a Nazi fascist who wants to segregate all minorities into ghettos?? Yikes!!! All I wanted to say, in support of Bienchen, was that normal kids misbehave, and that IMO it?s because the current government policy of inclusion is not all it?s cracked up to be!!!

OP posts:
CindersNeedsHelp · 09/11/2007 13:02

Now I have been called arse about face, two dimensional and comment was made about my ?kind of mindset?. Now I know how Flowery felt when she was insulted by MNers.

OP posts:
Bienchen · 09/11/2007 15:40

Oh Cinders I am so sorry to hear. This really gets my goat sometimes; MN should be about exchanging opinions but here we go. Your thread was not very long, had just run into second page but people already said stuff along the lines of "haven't read whole thread but this is what I think"... why oh why are people like that and why was nobody picking up on the original topic.

Hope Cinders we are still friends

MonkeyTrumpet · 09/11/2007 19:53

Much as I love MN it infuriates me at times for this very reason Cinders - threads just seem to be hijacked all the time by people with their own agendas. Someone wants advice on formula and they get a lecture about breastfeeding, someone else wants weaning advice and they get a lecture on BLW. Sometimes people are made to think that unless you have an intervention-free birth, exclusively breastfeed for 6 months, BLW thereafter, you are destined to have a sickly disfunctional child. I agree Bienchen, MN should be about exchanging opinions and not soapboxing.

Hope that doesn't upset anyone, I like to think we're all friends on this thread .

CindersNeedsHelp · 09/11/2007 21:44

Thanks guys. I?ve calmed down a lot now! I must say that this is the friendliest thread I?ve been on. Though we all seem to come from different backgrounds and the only thing we have in common is FLYing we all apparently appreciate hearing each other?s views!

Also, ignoring MN for just a little while helped, so did getting messy with my 18 month old ? we were painting today. I brought some sponge xmas stamps (felt too tired to make potato ones, and figure these will wash out and I hope I can use them next year) and were stamping on left over lining wallpaper to make wrapping paper. It?s mostly a large paint blob or two rubbed in with hands, but you can just make out snowmen and angel shapes if you squint. We got very messy and DS loved it!

So, to FLYing ?
Done - morning routine, caught up on missions, hot spot, laundry (and it?s clear ? I even put DS dirty clothes in straight after painting today because the machine was empty!!)
Not done - some weekly blessing activities, decluttering, evening routine ? really need to go and do stuff, because we have a hectic weekend ahead, with haps of visitors and we?re going out for most of the day, so no time to clear up. Need to get ahead, but can?t motivate myself just now.

Will let you know on Monday if I get ahold of myself!!!

Hope all my MN FLYfriends are doing well!
