FLYing Babysteppers, Graduates and Newbies

CindersNeedsHelp · 26/10/2007 22:11

This is a thread for anyone who feels daunted by the grown-up FLY thread!!! Particularly those who:
Are starting FLYing (Newbies)
Have just finished babysteps (Graduates)
Or
Are experienced FLYBabies but, for whatever reason, want or need to babystep again (Babysteppers)

Here are links to the mission page, the sneak peek page and the Riley challenge page.

And those all important reminders:
Mon reminder
Tue reminder
Wed reminder
Thur reminder
Fri reminder
Sat reminder
Sun reminder

I am a babysteps graduate. I don't FLY everyday, but on the days I do, I really find it helps.

Thanks for the support, it's really appreciated.

I'm still not feeling well, but I've not been as tired today, if that makes sense. I've managed a few bits, but apart from chauffeuring the boys around to their various commitments (DH at work today) I thought resting was probably more important.

SuperMonkey · 04/11/2007 07:28

Resting is definitely more important Rebel, doing anything is more productive when you aren't tired and resenting it!

Minimonkey's teething is hitting big time, turning him into a miserable bag of misery. And he's off his food too, which means he's up in the night hungry. I know, I know, I know, I've had an easy time of nights, but last night he was up at 1:30am, 4:00am and awake for the day at 6:00am, with a dreamfeed at 10:30pm. Not used to it so I'm shattered. Ho hum. He's being the monkey that's he's named after too because he'll happily eat yoghurt and fruit but try and give him anything savoury and he'll look at you like you've poisoned him and spit it all out . I might have to try a new tack on the weaning, he's not quite 6 months so it won't matter if we go back to basics.

Hope we're all having a good weekend. Catch you all anon.

Bienchen · 04/11/2007 19:45

Rebel - yes take it easy. If DH is off any time during the week, will he help out?

Supermonkey - DD was the same with feeding as minimonkey. In the end I mixed her savioury food with fruit puree and gradually changed back to normal again. It has worked very well. This weekend she has shared our food including the eating out today (Moroccan lamb and couscous, rice, falafel, grilled lamb, bread, etc) - v proud of her! But then again she is 8 months now, so you get much more choice.

SA - good luck with the bump!!!

We had fab day in London. Free train tickets, too. Saw the London/Paris fashion exhibition at the V&A, lovely late and long lunch and a long walk along the embankment. Got back to take the dog out (luckily unfazed by fireworks). Have put clothes out for tomorrow and shined the sink. No dishwasher or washing machine tonight as we are up to date.

Hope you all had a chance to relax and get a chnce to FLY tomorrow.

unknownrebelbang · 04/11/2007 22:26

Thank you. I feel much better today, ready to start afresh tomorrow.

unknownrebelbang · 04/11/2007 22:27

Unfortunately DH is at work all week (lates/nights too so not around in the evenings to help with the lads, grrrr) til Friday, but will do what he can when he can.

CindersNeedsHelp · 05/11/2007 09:02

Hello all ? I?m not really ever about for the weekend as I spend it with the family, but have caught up with all your posts now!

Rebel ? hope your cough has got better and I read the article and the point made ?if I don?t do something, nobody else will? I know all too well, and I only have a toddler. Heaven help me when he?s older! The rules were good too, I thought!

Tiger - sorry to hear you had a bad night over the weekend, and don?t feel bad over the mince. It really does happen to us all! You are a good mum! Keep reminding yourself that!! Hope you feel better for the start of the week!

Flowery - I?m so impressed by your DH cleaning your bedroom! Just the other night, after cooking tea, putting DS in bath/to bed, clearing kitchen, washing up, sorting dirty laundry into darks/lights etc. putting it on, sorting the wet onto airers/into tumble drier, taking dry off airer/out of tumble drier, and when I was done I made a cup of tea for DH and took it through to him watching TV and he grumbled that we didn?t spend much time together ? grrrr!

Bienchen - Sorry to hear about the job, and glad you had a good time in London. And so jealous you are up to date with washing. I am still behind from not having a machine for so long!

SA - well done on clearing out the kitchen cupboard. Mine has so much junk in I really don?t want to look at it!!

Monkey - say hello to Camomile for me and give poor little Minimonkey a cuddle for me ? teething can be horrid!!!

So, am off to start FLYing for the day! TTFN and bye bye!!

Mini rant alert - not really about FLYing!

Have spoken to the lady who ran the interview to get some feedback and apparently I did not have broad enough experience? Don't really know how to improve on that, discussed with DP and we concluded that maybe I need an HGV licence and lapdancing practice as well nowadays.

Back to FLYing ... done the usual morning routine and will go to gym if DD is ok with that and then will have a friend over to share lunch with.

Happy FLYing!!

Shannaratiger · 05/11/2007 13:09

Afternoon everyone

Thanks for the words of support, DS is back to his usual eating self. his 4 back teeth all coming thru together though is still bothering him. Hopefully he will be back to his usual smiley self v. soon.

Was catching up on my non-flying weekend when my friend pop round for tea at 9:30, DC's weren't dressed and dd and her ds(2) always fight over toys, although they r always so pleased to c each other?
Had at least got morning routine done inc. changing and remaking our bed. Will try to do todays mission before getting dd from playschool.

Can't believe i am on day 27 and am back in the kitchen where i started.

sorry for the prattle my head is really spinning out, back later

SuperMonkey · 05/11/2007 13:48

Afternoon all. FLYing is going quite well today, always does on a Monday, I think I feel ready to go again after the weekend. Minimonkey woke at 4am and didn't go back to sleep until 5:30am, so I'm quite surprised I've got any energy. He seems a bit happier today so perhaps his teeth aren't pushing so badly. The first one has just broken through though .

Bienchen I took your advice, added a bit of apple to minimonkey's beef casserole and he went for it. Thanks for the tip! I've got more food into him this lunchtime than I have for a while. Perhaps we'll have a better night. That's really frustrating feedback, really unhelpful because it's not exactly something you can do anything about.

Cinders that sounds just like an evening in the monkey household! DP said on Friday that he would help me unpack the holiday bags and guess what... I've decided to attack it as my 5 minute room rescue this week.

You'll be graduating soon Tiger!

Hope we're all having a good day.

unknownrebelbang · 05/11/2007 21:31

Bienchen, what was the job you went for?

Cinders - the article tickled me Saturday morning, and hit the spot.

New day, new dawn - then DS1 missed his bus and I had to drive him to school, lol.

Everything's a bit chaotic here - this is probably the worst week out of DH's shift pattern, plus it's deadline week at work, so not expecting miracles, but hoping to keep on top of the basics, plus the missions are a doddle this week.

systemsaddict · 06/11/2007 06:44

Well now that I am feeling better things are looking up. I have managed to keep sink shiny over the past few days, keep up with laundry and do an extra few bits of tidying / decluttering. I was on such a roll even made a Sunday roast lunch, AND got the washing up done immediately afterwards! Completely burned out by the end of yesterday but still managed to inveigle dp into helping sort kitchen out, so went to bed with shiny sink, yay. (though we're not mentioning clothes today )

Masses more still to do - all the catching up from the past few weeks to even get things back to the usual level of chaos - but am trying hard not to focus on that too much - it's just nice to be able to check in with some achievements for a change! It did make me realise just how much of my FLYing / not FLYing was down to a combination of circumstances, rather than me being crap as I felt at the time ...

Visited someone yesterday, an artist, whose house was absolutely beautiful - everything was clear, clean, ordered and uncluttered. Not in an oppressive 'you shall not put your mug here without a coaster' way, it just felt peaceful. OK she has no kids at home but still - gave me a lodestone to aim for - I keep thinking 'what would x do in this situation' and it got me to empty bins and sort out recycling last night when all I wanted to do was crash in front of the TV!

Shannaratiger · 06/11/2007 08:12

Morning all

Rebel have just read the article, made me laugh
Systemaddict glad u r feeling better and getting back on track. i think FLYlady would say don't try and catch up, but easier said than done.
Bienchen you're probably over qualified and scared them off

Anyway, enough waffling DS wants breakfast and we r still in our PJ's

Bienchen · 06/11/2007 08:43

Tiger - PJ's... I have actually failed for the last few days to get up before DC, so got dressed later. However, DS minds DD for 10 mins before he catches his bus, so I get ready then.

SA - as Tiger said, don't overdo it! Hope this was the end of your morning sickness.

Rebel - DS has not managed to miss his bus yet. He even has his own alarm clock but I tend to listen out for him in the morning, too. It is a 25 min journey one way, so I'm keen for him to take the bus! Job was Community Project Development Officer (promoting allotments that grow and sell organic veg to wider public; to take on two new sites and to get them to run profitably within two/three years; to obtain finance for this expansion)

Have redone my job list for today and I am glad we are in the kitchen today as the lounge/dining room will get messy tomorrow. We are having a hearth fitted and the guys have to take up some concrete. It is DP's day off, so I get some help with DD and dog.

Got to take DD for her seven month checkup later. She is actually 8.5m by now but still does not sit unaided. But both myself and DP were sitting late and I did not walk until nearly 2yrs - am making up for it now though!

flowerybeanbag · 06/11/2007 12:52

Morning everyone

Rushing today, have done morning routine and about to do some ironing and mission.

Had a long weekend off FLYing so getting back on track today, DH had a day off yesterday so we vegged most of the day and then I swanned off on a night out in the evening, which was lovely.

Catch up later

funnypeculiar · 06/11/2007 12:55

hello all lost this thread for a while. Will catch up on the gossip later

CindersNeedsHelp · 06/11/2007 17:04

Hi all, morning routines and afternoon routines done, decluttering done, and two loads of laundry done. Will do mission after tea when I clear up everything, seems pointless to do it now knowing I?m only going to spill food down the cabinets cooking, or DS might throw food at them!

Bienchen - LOL over lap dancing comment!

Tiger - DS and I are often in PJs having breakfast with DH. Afterward, DH goes to work and we come upstairs to dress. Before FLYing I sometimes didn?t get out of PJs til late am (or even pm ). Now I dress straight after breakfast so I am always dressed by 8am now, which I am proud of!

Flowery - I?m glad it?s not only me that doesn?t get much done when DH has day off. Why do they inspire us to veg???

Funnypeculiar - Welcome back!

SA - Glad artist friend inspires you. I would really keep in mind the ?no kids? thing though. Just think of the extra spare HOURS she has!!!! Whatever did I do in the evenings before (evenings for me start at about 8.30 and I don?t ?work?!!).

Rebel - how you doing with the basics? What?s your one babystep? I know Trinty?s is laundry (BTW has anyone seen TrintyRhino on these threads lately).

Monkey - yeah Minimonkey has a tooth!!

TTFN

Ladies I'm off for a bit, see here. Good luck with your FLYing, will be back soon.

SuperMonkey · 06/11/2007 20:00

Will miss you Flowery .

unknownrebelbang · 06/11/2007 21:00

Oh no, flowery, come back vv soon. You'll be sorely missed.

unknownrebelbang · 06/11/2007 21:15

bienchen - ds1 has only missed the bus 2/3 times, and it's not usually a problem if DH is around, as it's more or less on my way to work, yesterday though, I was just about to have a shower, lol.

Basics going fine thanks Cinders. Laundry habit is the biggie for me, along with prepping stuff for the next day. Not totally sorted with either, but getting there.

I think going away for a few days, and then coming home and being unwell, plus DH's shifts and him not feeling too good have put the mockers on our efforts (we were doing quite well up until we went away). Throw in all the lads' commitments and it all just goes to pot, lol.

unknownrebelbang · 06/11/2007 21:21

Morning:
Exercise bike and get ready
En Suite and downstairs loo
Make the bed - DH still in it.

Whenever:
Laundry - done.
Mission - to do (tomorrow)
Hot spot - done.
Five min room rescue - done.
15 minutes declutter - to do (am doing 30 mins a day this week to catch up).
15 mins metime - reading the paper whilst the lads had a swim.

Evening:
Prepare tea - dh had done this today before he went to work.
Think about tea for tomorrow - done.
Shiny Sink (includes dishwasher/worksurfaces) - to do.
Clothes ready for me, uniform sorted, karate gis ready to iron tomorrow.

funnypeculiar · 06/11/2007 22:48

FBB - you'll be missed - come back soon!

Shannaratiger · 07/11/2007 07:19

Morning all

Have only just read about flowery leaving us for a while, v. sad what is HR though?

back later hc's r jumping all over me.

SuperMonkey · 07/11/2007 08:31

ST HR stands for Human Resources, it's the new name for Personnel.

Just checking in while I eat my breakfast (a healthy bowl of fruit and muesli, decided I need to lose about a stone (more like 2 really but lets be realistic) before the office Christmas party). Will be back in a bit.

Bienchen · 07/11/2007 12:51

FLYing going so so today.

We are having a hearth fitted in the living room and despite best efforts all round to keep dust at bay, we will have to clean up floors downstairs, so that will be our mission for today. Thank goodness DP is having his day off today, so we will be quicker.

Also, have appointment at DS's school later as he is doing less well than last year. Trying to nip this in the bud...

I wonder whether Flowery is also under the weather with low iron count; I hope she checks in on us.
