This is a thread for anyone who feels daunted by the grown-up FLY thread!!! Particularly those who:
Are starting FLYing (Newbies)
Have just finished babysteps (Graduates)
Or
Are experienced FLYBabies but, for whatever reason, want or need to babystep again (Babysteppers)

Here are links to the mission page, the sneak peek page and the Riley challenge page.

And those all important reminders:
Mon reminder
Tue reminder
Wed reminder
Thur reminder
Fri reminder
Sat reminder
Sun reminder

I am a babysteps graduate. I don't FLY everyday, but on the days I do, I really find it helps.

Morning everyone

I am feeling much better this morning=woken up at 6:30

So far this morning i have:

  1. Got up & dressed
  2. Made mine and dd's bed
  3. Stripped adn remade ds's cot
  4. Put w/m on
  5. All had breakfast , cleared away
  6. Shined sink
  7. Dressed dc's
  8. Washing on airer & in t/d

Hi Moodlum & Daisy hope u stay with us, i find it's really helpful having other mum's who r all having the same problems. Just remember ( i keep trying to remind myself) we all have good and bad days & we don't have to be perfect.

flowerybeanbag · 30/10/2007 09:08

morning all, someone say hello to me! [needy]

My house is in a wonderful state at the moment despite my dishwasher and washing machine woes, thanks to lovely DH working hard at the weekend.

I also am instructed to tell you all that when he was in the bathroom last night he swished and swiped! He was so pleased with himself and made me promise to tell my FLYbaby mates!

So far

Dressed to shoes and make up done
Kitchen surfaces done
Hotspot done
Control journal checked done
Sink shined done

I haven't even read what the mission is today but I'll do it this afternoon and 15 minutes declutter will be the ironing pile.

Monkey try not to worry about the diary. I'm sure you are a wonderful stepmother and if DSD has written anything about you it will be more down to her age than specifically because you are rubbish. I remember going through a period when I was about 13 of being cross with my stepmother but I grew out of it in no time and it was definitely about teenage angst rather than actually anything she was doing. We get on fabulously now and have mostly ever since.

CindersNeedsHelp · 30/10/2007 09:33

Please help me chose a washing machine. Mine died today! What did you chose Flowery?

OP posts:
Shannaratiger · 30/10/2007 09:33

Hello flowerybeanbag i am very impressed with your dh.
I actualy cleaned the bathroom last night, straight after dc's bath, whilst they were watching night garden. was soo much easier cleaning the bath straight away (as my mum's always told me!)

CindersNeedsHelp · 30/10/2007 09:35

Monkey ? I wrote horrid things about my parents in my dairy, and there was no reason to. Just being a hormonal teenager. Honestly, don?t worry but DON?T READ IT, because it will really upset her. My parents read mine, I didn?t forgive them for months, and I mean MONTHS!

OP posts:
CindersNeedsHelp · 30/10/2007 09:37

Oh ? didn?t read your post properly Flowery ? sorry ? so HELLO to you and very well done () to your DH!!! He?s FLYing now!!!

flowerybeanbag · 30/10/2007 10:10

Hello! Shannara I was extremely impressed by DH, it seems to be rubbing off on him nicely! And well done cleaning the bath. I always want to do it straightaway after bathing DS but as soon as he gets out of the bath he is immediately starving for his bedtime feed (he's 5 mo) so that's not an option.

Cinders we have this Miele washer/dryer. Despite having to call out the engineer (he's coming tomorrow!) so soon, I have to be fair and say that the initial problem was something of DH's getting stuck in the drain, and then it not liking water going in the wrong place when I drained it according to the instructions. The actual machine is WONDERFUL and has revoutionised my life. It's expensive though, and is a washer/dryer.

IamDaisy · 30/10/2007 10:15

morning peeps.

I didn't shine my sink last night, but I've washed and hung out two loads of washing this morning, and folded (but not put away) the stuff from the drier.

The kitchen is a bombsite though, so is on the list for today, as is unpacking the clean clothes that came home from our holidays.

I may not be a very competent FLYer, but I have the basics and am working on a decent routine. I've dug out an old filofax to use as a control journal and will be starting to get it in order this week.

coffee break nearly over ....I'll catch uo later in the week!

funnypeculiar · 30/10/2007 10:56

Mofning all Am officially working, so only got the minimum done this morning (load of washing in, 5 min rescue on kitchen, swished & swiped.

Supermonkey - agree with others that if you possibly can, don't read it - she'll be furious (& rightly so...) if she ever finds out .... but it if's anything like mine was it'll be all about school gossip, boys & random shit - don't think my parents eveer got much of a look-in

Oh, and well done, FBB's dh ... and note to self to try & clean bath straightaway, Shannaratiger (although we still have the 'need milk now' thing with ds who's 3.5!)

See you all later!

SuperMonkey · 30/10/2007 12:33

I'm not going to read it, as much as anything so as not to upset myself! As you said, it'll probably all be about boys and pop stars.

DS has had a bit of a breakthrough on his napping so I'm getting a bit more done. As well as the usual morning routine, I've also spent about half an hour sorting DSD's clothes, put a curry in the slow cooker for tea and done the ironing < phew..> Still not unpacked the holiday bags yet though

Got swimming again this afternoon .

Well done to all you bath cleaners - I usually let DS have a nappy-free kick on the bathroom floor after his bath so I should probably wipe it down then. Perhaps I'll have a go tonight.

Bienchen · 30/10/2007 13:29

Wow, so much happening!

Welcome to newbies or should that be newflies?

Have doen some flying today but morning routine all upside down with DP having day off and me going to an interview.

Have done usual jobs by now (will bore you with a proper list tomorrow) and DP and I have done big grocery shop.

DD had a better night and so did we!

Washing machines - look out for a machine that does at least 1400 rpm when spinning, the more the better as the washing is much drier when it comes out. Cannot believe they sell washer dryers that spin at 1100 and clothes will take ages to dry! We have a Hoover washer dryer - 1500 rpm of course Very reliable, had it for nearly four years and no problems.

Supermonkey - don't read the diary; agree with other posts!

funnypeculiar · 30/10/2007 13:33

Good luck/how did the interview go, Bienchen?
And well done mini-monkey on sorting his naps out!!

Washer dyers - don't get one like ours (LG Intellowasher) if you actually want to use the dryer - takes forever (will check out the rpm, Bienchen!!). I try not to use a dryer anyway,so doesn't matter much to us. It does however have one of the larger size drums, which I highly recommend

SuperMonkey · 30/10/2007 13:58

I've just been severely patronised by a woman at the animal sanctuary telling me that "with all due respect" I must basically be stupid if I think they would rehome a cat in a house with a baby. I'm fuming, I hate people talking at me like I'm stupid. As if I would put either baby or cat in danger.

Shannaratiger · 30/10/2007 16:31

Afternoon everyone

have a few minutes before dp gets home. ds is having a nap & dd is eating tea, 1 hour early, she has a cooked lunch at playschool, not sure she ate it today.

Cinders i hope u manage to get a good washing machine 4 u, let us know as i'm not sure our 4yr old hotpoint is going to last much longer.

At lunchtime i started using the 15 minute timer. It really helped sort out the 2 hours i have. it made sure that i got jobs done but also had time playing with ds by himself. i usually feel realy guilty about not getting the balance right.

Anyway had better get on with tea and bed time routine.

systemsaddict · 30/10/2007 21:35

Today's checkin as promised: have laid out clothes for tomorrow, worked on negative to positive thoughts, AND done 15 mins in bedroom. Did very little yesterday as was feeling v. sick and went to bed at 8.20pm - the benefit of this is that on days like today when I'm only feeling a bit sick I realise I can do a babystep or two!

unknownrebelbang · 30/10/2007 21:36

Oooh tough one sm. Put it back and pretend you never saw it. (and remember most kids HATE their parents at some point, stepmums would be a natural target, however lovely they are in reality.) Now my stepmama is another story altogether, lol. My diary contained the initials of the boys I kissed, lol.

Well done flowery DH.

Hope the interview went well Bienchen.

We've got zanussi Cinders - happy with it, but we've had it a while now, and specs change.

unknownrebelbang · 30/10/2007 21:39

Morning:
Exercise bike and get ready
En Suite and downstairs loo
Make the bed - DH still in it.

Whenever:
Laundry - done.
Mission - done.
Hot spot - to do.
Five min room rescue - done
15 minutes declutter - combined with
My personal 15 mins - sorting out my make-up drawer, very therapuetic, even though I don't wear much, lol.

Evening:
Prepare tea.
Think about tea for tomorrow - DH's domain, I'm out!
Shiny Sink (includes dishwasher/worksurfaces) - to do.
Clothes ready for me, uniform sorted, karate gis ready.

systemsaddict · 30/10/2007 21:45

Supermonkey, DEFINITELY don't read diary!! My diary is full of bile and venom towards dp - it's where I get it all out when I feel the usual frustrations of a relationship - but I don't need to 'get out' the good stuff so none of it goes in - if anyone ever saw it it would give completely the wrong impression!! Also it's not beyond the bounds of possibility that she left it in a findable place as a test of trust ...

moodlumtheWOOOHOOHOOhoodlum · 30/10/2007 22:09

Evening flybabyladies

Congratulations on a productive day all round really!

I haven't been that productive, but am trying to shine sink and sweep kitchen floor at every opportunity, and it makes a difference, doesn't it.

Tomorrow is another day, and dd at nursery pm, and ds will hopefully sleep, so that's two hours to be productive. I did make a cake today though - does that count?!

unknownrebelbang · 30/10/2007 22:23

Remember that paperwork I spent the weekend searching for??? Don't blardy need it do I??? I'd misread the information.

doh.

Shannaratiger · 31/10/2007 06:24

Morning everyone

Hope u r all ok this morning and all dc's slept well. ds awake ar 5:30, same time as dp's alarm went off, dd still asleep though so that's ok

Off to start flying now dp's gone to work.
back later

CindersNeedsHelp · 31/10/2007 09:41

Morning - really fell off FLY wagon yesterday, well this week really! Sink shiny, washing up done last night, but nowt else. Sink nasty now!

Need kick up the bottom TBH!

OP posts:
Shannaratiger · 31/10/2007 10:02

hello again

Am keeping my sink nice and shiny but can't get my cheap, plastic drying rack clean-any suggestions please it's really p*ing me off

SuperMonkey · 31/10/2007 12:29

Afternoon all.

Still plodding on, morning routine is done, DS has gone to sleep so I need to spend half an hour decluttering the spare room for my parents who are coming tonight - they're babysitting so that DP and I can go out for a fancy meal . This also means that DS will have to do without his 10:30pm feed as mama wants a few drinks, so we should find out whether he needs it or not.

Catch y'all later.

flowerybeanbag · 31/10/2007 12:34

My washing machine is fixed by the lovely Miele man who didn't even charge me. I think I looked needy and helpless enough

Hoorah!

Morning routine done, off to do some decluttering now and mission while DS is napping.

Shannara no idea about plastic rack thingy I'm afraid sorry. I'd probably chuck it out if it were me, how un-environmentally friendly

Monkey have a fab time tonight!
