This is a thread for anyone who feels daunted by the grown-up FLY thread!!! Particularly those who:
Are starting FLYing (Newbies)
Have just finished babysteps (Graduates)
Or
Are experienced FLYBabies but, for whatever reason, want or need to babystep again (Babysteppers)

Here are links to the mission page, the sneak peek page and the Riley challenge page.

And those all important reminders:
Mon reminder
Tue reminder
Wed reminder
Thur reminder
Fri reminder
Sat reminder
Sun reminder

I am a babysteps graduate. I don't FLY everyday, but on the days I do, I really find it helps.

Cinders - you are our beacon, so don't let us and yourself down. Go and shine that sink, you know you want to

Flowery - that's fab news. I think the Miele appliances come with a full 5 year warranty, so maybe you were entitled to free repairs?

Tiger - I use a solution of bleachy water to soak the rack in. Half an hour and it looks as good as new.

Interview was weird, did 10 min presentation at the start then lots of questions how I would raise money, etc, Health & Safety questions. Not a bean about previous jobs, experience, rather odd. Have a feeling they already had an existing contact and went through the motions or maybe as I was first candidate to interview they had to warm up

FLYing going reasonable well. DD is napping now, so I'll better sign off and cut the grass.

unknownrebelbang · 31/10/2007 22:08

Have a lovely evening SM.

I've done nada today, well except college, work, pub (well it was a retirement do!) and then came home to Muuuuum, so had to help DS1 to copy/email some photos out for a school project which took an age.

All I want now is my bed cos my cold's kicking in again.

I'm trying not to look how untidy it all is today, and hoping DH will do some stuff tomorrow for me.

Nite all.

funnypeculiar · 31/10/2007 23:08

Just checking in. Had a lovely AND productive day - did lots this am, a good 15 mins sorting out of my t-shirt drawer (serious kulling!) & then made & iced halowe'en fairy cakes with the dcs. Went T&T with them for the first time - they loved it, and there was a really nice friendly vibe around too

Big presentation tomorrow though, so will get nothing useful done at all

Bienchen - interview sounds very odd - when do you hear?

SuperMonkey · 01/11/2007 07:57

Morning all.

Went to bed last night without having done my bedtime routine and I'm feeling the effects this morning - no joy from a scruffy sink, no clean dishes as I've only just put the dishwasher on. But we did have a lovely meal out and minimonkey was a joy and slept through all the trick-or-treaters. I only ended up having one mojito and one glass of wine though so mini got his bedtime feed - it's 15 months since I've had a proper drink and I just can't get back in the swing of it!

Catch you all later chaps.

SuperMonkey · 01/11/2007 07:58

Oh and I had the strangest dream - I was engaged to Kevin Federline and I was in the building society opening an account for DS where the woman behind the counter was Shabnam from Big Brother .

flowerybeanbag · 01/11/2007 09:33

BC hope you hear soon about the interview, does sound a bit bizarre!

Rebel hope you feel better today

FP hope presentation goes really well

Monkey glad you had a good evening out, know what you mean about getting back into the swing of drinking, I've had a couple of opportunities since DS was born, particularly as I am ff but just don't really fancy it as much. And what is going on with your dreams?!

And hello to the rest

I made a new resolution, don't get laptop out until morning routine done. And this morning have done morning routine beautifully, and newly-fixed washing machine is on, hoorah! I have my blood test this morning to see if I am anaemic/how badly so hopefully it won't be too painful.

Catch up later

Bienchen · 01/11/2007 11:00

Flowery - good luck at the doctors!

Rebel - hope DH mucks in.

Funny - good luck today with the presentation!

hello to everyone else.

FLYing going well this morning, have managed two walks already, so doing well on exercise side of things. Also done listings on Ebay as half price listing day today. I am saving towards stair gates which we will need sooner or later. DD just rolling, so no immediate hurry.

SuperMonkey · 01/11/2007 12:31

Having a momentary crisis of faith - any one else feel a little that they've been doing this (relatively religiously) for over a month and their house is still in a state? I know, I know, I know, it took years to get into this state and it's not going to change over night. Still...

Perhaps this is what missing my bedtime routine does to me.

Flowery hope it went ok at the docs.

flowerybeanbag · 01/11/2007 13:58

Monkey stick with it! Keep up your routines, laundry, hotspots, room rescue, swish and swipe and you'll have a good level of 'maintenance', then the 15 minutes decluttering a day plus the missions will gradually get the whole house sorted as well.

Doctors went ok, didn't faint or anything and one of the receptionists came in to hold DS while I was being jabbed. He went down very well with everyone, bless him [proud mummy emoticon]

Shannaratiger · 01/11/2007 15:49

hello everyone
had a non FLYing day today.
ds woke at 4am with a cold and teething. went back in cot at 5am, dp went to work at 5:15, then dd decided it was breakfast time!
had toddler group this morning and the dentist for a filling this afternoon
should have got loads done this morning before toddler grp but didn't, have only just emptyed w/m (did change and remake dd's bed though).

systemsaddict · 01/11/2007 19:47

Little tiny light at end of tunnel here, had a couple of hours without feeling sick ... of course was panicking that 10 weeks is too early for symptoms to go but they're back full force now! So I was able to catch up a little bit on house stuff this morning and am sitting here with washing up to date - all dry stuff put away, all wet stuff hung up, no full loads lurking anywhere - definitely the first time this has happened since late September! - sink is shiny and I just need to prep clothes before falling into bed to feel I'm back on FLYwagon. I say 'just' but I am so resistant to doing this, which is weird - there's nothing to it, it takes 2 mins and makes a big difference the next day, why don't I want to do it??? Anyway, I've said I will now so hopefully that will force me to.

systemsaddict · 01/11/2007 19:50

ah Supermonkey I miss drinking ... reckon I had about 10 days between stopping breastfeeding and getting pregnant again - I did manage to celebrate ds' 1st birthday with a couple too many glasses of wine - now looking forward to the next proper night out - sometime in 2009!!!

flowerybeanbag · 01/11/2007 19:56

SA glad you temporarily felt better! Hopefully sickness will ease up properly in a couple of weeks
And do make yourself put out your clothes - I think that's the single babystep that's made most difference to me, getting my morning off on the right foot and lessening the bleary-eyed confusion at 6.30am after a bad night.

Can I just share with everyone I did three yes that's right THREE loads of washing today! My washing machine is now fixed and I had a desperate urge to clear the backlog.

Please also feel sorry for Doggybeanbag who is curled up on my feet terrified of bangs from rockets outside. I had to go up and see to DS in bed who was woken up by one of them and DBB was desperate to come upstairs with me rather than stay downstairs scared by himself It's not even that bad today, he's going to be a quivering wreck at the weekend

unknownrebelbang · 01/11/2007 23:09

SM, I felt like that yesterday, and today's not much better. I'm not sure if it's because we've just come back off holiday, I'm feeling under the weather, and knowing DH is working over the weekend, blah blah blah.

DH has done a quick flirt around the lounge and kitchen, and I made the boys do the hall which seems to be a permanent dumping ground. (Was not impressed with the boys tonight for various reasons).

I'm sure I'll get back on track again, but DH has not been as helpful as he usually is, cos I think he's tired and not feeling well either.

SuperMonkey · 02/11/2007 08:56

Morning all. Did my bedtime routine last night which has made me feel much better this morning, I even got a curry in the slow cooker before mini monkey woke at 7am! DP has promised he will help me unpack all the holiday bags and put the clean washing away tonight so that we don't have it hanging over us (no pun intended!) all weekend.

SA hope you're feeling a bit better soon, I was pretty sick until about 20 weeks and I used to try and tell myself that it was all for a good reason. Doesn't help though when you're chucking up down a drain on the way to work, looking like a wino . It's funny though, I just don't miss the alcohol, to the extent that I'm even thinking of driving home from the office Christmas do rather than staying over because I know that I'll end up having one glass of wine then feeling irritated by all the stupid drunk people! How sad is that.

FBB hope doggybeanbag has recovered, we haven't really had any round here yet.

Shannaratiger · 02/11/2007 09:05

morning all

Had another 4am start
Have done some of morning routine, just need to start the tidying and cleaning.

SM glad u r feeling better this morning.
SA when I was preg with DS didn't feel like doing anything for the first 12 wks. glad you felt better and managed to catch up abit.
W/M just finished so had better go.

CindersNeedsHelp · 02/11/2007 09:23

Hello all ? the kick up the bottom must have helped (thanks Flowery) as yesterday I did all my routines, and even caught up-to-date with missed daily Home Blessing activities and missions. I also had chance to sit down to read a bit while DS had a surprise afternoon nap!!!

So, today, inspired, my morning routine is done, including S&S! Kitchen is tidy, washing up done and put away, sink shining and have cleared front porch/entrance area/dining room of junk! We?re having pasta for tea tonight, so really easy and quick.

Have done kitchen hot spot, which is, oddly, on top of the microwave and have done 15 minutes decluttering in the living room sorting through DVDs and videos, so all DS cartoons are now readily to hand as it?s getting colder and outdoor playtime is dwindling!!!

I am looking forward to getting my washing machine today. I?ve been without one for the whole of this week, so Flowery I know exactly what you mean about backlog. I have three LARGE wash baskets full of dirty laundry!!

So thank you all so much my MN FLY friends! I might have given up if it weren?t for your support! Thank you, thank you, thank you, thank you!

Bienchen · 02/11/2007 15:14

Hi all, very late post but had a really positive morning/afternoon.

Cinders - nice to see you back on track.

Tiger - sorry to hear about your early start. It does get to you after a while. Any chance someone can give you break later in the day? I started that late in my pregnancy and it made a big difference just lying down for 20 mins late afternoon.

Flowery - poor DBB, this is the worst time of the year for pets!

Hi to everyone else!

BTW, still not heard anything about the job with the weird interview. And they said on Tuesday that they would interview everyone that day, make a decision more or less immediately and get back to people very quickly "as there was no point letting people hang around". Well, right...

unknownrebelbang · 02/11/2007 21:42

I'm really struggling!

I've been at work for 9 hours, instead of 5, am still coughing, and have been rocked by some dreadful news, and some lovely news.

DH has been out with DS2+DS3 on a school trip for even longer, so he's even more shattered than I am, although bless him he came straight in and sorted the sink out.

I'm just too tired today (and I've no babies waking me up at all hours!).

Oh hum, tomorrow's another day.

Shannaratiger · 03/11/2007 07:43

Morning everyone

Had a really bad night, the mince i gave ds for tea had gone off & i didn't notice.
He was therefore being sick until 2:30 this morning. have definately learnt my lesson= write the date on bags of cooked frozen food!
the first wash of sicked clothes is now in the w/m. i am definately going back to bed when dp wakes up- ds is all better now, so guilt is slowly going. sorry for the waffle.

Rebel hope u can manage to catch up on some rest today.

had better get on and finish clearing the kitchen.

back later.

unknownrebelbang · 03/11/2007 08:06

aw no ST!

Saw this article earlier and it made me laugh and thought it was apt. It's written by a scriptwriter of the Grumpy series on BBC.

grumpy

Am not suggesting for a second that any of us are grumpy or middle-aged, lol.

flowerybeanbag · 03/11/2007 16:04

Shannara sorry you've had a couple of bad nights and I'm sure DS will be fine in no time
Monkey, so impressed with curry in slow cooker, how organised!
Rebel sorry you struggled yesterday, hope today's going better
Cinders sounds like you are well back on track
BC interview sounds curiouser and curiouser!
SA hope you are feeling ok

And hello to the rest

Doggiebeanbag was freaked all yesterday evening as well, not happy at all. I had to spend ages coaxing him out for a wee last night. I think our local fireworks were last night though so I'm hoping any tonight or tomorrow will be further away and less traumatic. We did hear a few just now though as DH was setting off with him and DS for a walk, so I'm hoping it'll be ok.

Now our bathroom is finished DH has been working like a trouper doing a deep clean and tidy of our bedroom so we can move back in there tonight, at last. I've been quite good with my FLYing as well, so things are going well. Very tired today though, suffering from lots happening yesterday - out most of the day as it was DH's birthday. Need to get this anaemia sorted asap - hopefully once we get test results back on Tuesday it won't be long.

Catch up soon all have a good weekend

Bienchen · 03/11/2007 18:23

Hello all!

Tiger - hope that DS is ok again.

Rebel - hope you had a better day.

Flowery - thanks for thinking of me. Our dog is NOT bothered by fireworks luckily... she is happy to sit outside and watch

SM - you inspired me to dig out the slowcooker and prepare Moroccan lamb for tonight!!

DP was working today, so I went to local jumble sale with DD and spent a grand total of .... £1.50! I got two toys for DD in excellent condition, dito 5 books and a bowl which matches my kitchen. Not bad (is there a proud emoticon?)

Cleaned hall and porch today as well while DD napped, so am pretty up to date with missions.

Finally had an email last night at 5 to tell me I did not get the job, well it was not a surprise and whilst a was a bit annoyed, I think my opinion of my potential employer was not so high, so probably just as well. I will ring and ask for feedback though.

Off to London for a day out tomorrow with DP and DD. Have a lovely weekend all, no sickness for SA and lots of sleep for those who need it!

systemsaddict · 03/11/2007 20:47

Thanks Flowery - and thanks for the encouragement the other night, I did do my clothes after reading your msg although everything in me was desperate not to, and it was worth it the next day! Enjoy your bedroom tonight . Big hugs for doggiebeanbag. My mum's dog hates fireworks and it's awful seeing her cowering under the stairs. Synthetic dog pheromones help her but they're v. expensive!

Am feeling much better still, thanks. Hoping it's just the right point for morning sickness to ease and not something more sinister - scan Thursday so will find out then but my gut feeling is it's fine so fingers crossed. Also have bump already which must be a good sign. In-laws came to visit today so we ran around and tidied and cleaned the whole house this morning which got it back up to date. I decluttered the kitchen cupboard which has needed doing since at least summer 06 - ridiculously it only took me about 7 minutes!! Think I could start to aim for more complete FLY routines and missions now but will continue to focus on clothes for the moment, till that feels like a habit.

Sorry to hear about job Bienchen but it sounds like you feel it may not have been quite right anyway, so maybe for the best? Tiger hope your ds is feeling better, don't feel guilty, these things just happen once in a while. Rebel, sounds like you had a tough one yesterday, hope today was better and gave you some recovery space. Well done Cinders getting back on track, we need you to keep inspiring us . Hi to everyone else!

SuperMonkey · 03/11/2007 21:05

Ooh a bump SA, how exciting! Good luck with your scan, I'm sure everything will be hunkydory but it's quite scary so I'll be thinking of you.

Sorry about the job Bienchen, sounds like you are looking on the bright side though and I'm sure something better will come along. Have a fun day out.

Flowery I hope doggybeanbag is starting to recover. The fireworks have all kicked off round here but > minimonkey seems to be sleeping through them. Hope you start feeling a bit better soon.

Hope your days improved Shannara and Rebel.

We are now the proud owners of a hamster called Camomile (DSD named her, that's some imagination!). Funny little critters. This necessitated me clearing the utility room to find space for the cage so it has had its uses - I now have two shiny sinks . I'm sure the novelty will wear off soon and I'll be the one clearing the poo and feeding/watering. DSD and DP have had a humdinger row this afternoon about nothing so the mood is a little tense, how do you deal with a tweenager who (a) looks for an argument where none exists and (b) refuses to accept she's wrong? Well, that's a whole other thread!

Hope we're all having a relaxing Saturday evening.
