Swish through September 2019 with the fledglings - Flylady thread

Let's swish and swipe our way through September, decluttering as we go with the Flylady! We have a mix of old and new fledglings and everyone is welcome to join us for chat and motivation. Thanks to Stressy for running a fabulous August thread!

The Flylady Launch Pad is the place to start each day - each week focuses on a different zone of the house to clean if you have decluttered it first (can't clean clutter) and you can also follow the Babysteps if you'd like to introduce one new element each day and build on that.

If you like to plan in advance, the weekly Sneak Peek will give you advance notice of the missions and zone coming up, it changes each weekend.

The monthly focus for September is making the bed.

I look at my ironing pile and ask myself 'what would Ned do'. He'd do it instead of just looking at it, that's what he'd do! I think Ned's running the thread in November.

Biff, Chip and Kipper nearly took my will to live, I never thought I'd be glad to see a magic key but it helped a bit.

zoo that is an adorable ballerina. Very neat hair empties cans of hairspray into DD's next week in attempt to replicate

Waves to Lisette, Bower, IVE and Foxes

I'll be back with the links in a bit.

Evening all,

I'm finding by the evenings I am getting too tired to post, but I am reading through the thread. Glad London caller was helpful today Bower.

Lil Zoo look like a perfect ballerina! So unlike me with my straggly hair, spare tyre and old teeshirt!

Day off work, but spent a lot of it ferrying DCs around (DS had orthodontist at lunchtime which meant 2x40 min round trip to and from school and the same to pick him up later.

Tada!

Declumped litter trays
Washing and DW on
Short run
Shower
Hot spotted living room
Excavated under DD bed looking for something (unsucessful)
Made a large batch of tomato sauce
Hung washing out
Ordered more school shirts (much password faffing).
Fetched DS
Orthodontist
Lunch and took DS back
Flopped on sofa to watch Doctors
Answered emails
Into town for cat litter, light bulb and pick up parcel
Coffee in town
Posted letters
Washing in
Chat with DD
Fetched DS and dumped him home to cook dinner
Meeting at DD school
Put yogurt on to make overnight
Phew. Just got washing to sort now.

I hated Thomas the Tank Engine. I'd skip pages but the little dear knew the books inside out and would always point it out. I thought they were fascist - only useful engines were worthy of existence. By the end of the day I was always shattered and I hated Thomas.

IVEgottheDECAF · 19/09/2019 21:51

And the magic key began to glow, it was time for another adventure 🗝

I really hope our school fuck off BC&K before dc4 gets there. I have read ALL the books like 3 times already 😐

ChicCroissant · 19/09/2019 22:25

Impressive list there Expletive, no wonder you are tired!

Launch Pad link for Fri-yay with buttons for the missions, zones and the daily flightplan and the Babystep about laundry.

Sleep well fledglings, and I will see you tomorrow.

Biff, chip and kipper are designed to break parents will to live, esp if you have multiple children and have endure it all on repeat
Great list ED

Bowerbird5 · 19/09/2019 23:38

Yes foxes...listening to umpteen kids reading them for them for twenty five years! I liked some of the old ones with around the world stories. The new phonic books are pretty bland too. It is ok if they have different books but if you get two or three in a row with the same book oh dear. I usually get the PP and EAL kids so hear them about 3 x a week if I can. I do love the EAL kids accents though. One of the Polish kids is one of the best readers in the class. It must be so hard for them when they are so little and lots of the Polish kids go to Saturday school where they read in Polish.

Well I finished bathroom and have done some stuff in the kitchen. Most disappointed that Ned hasn't been I bet he is at one of your houses or in the pub. I saw it was still open as I got home.
I have been to my friends for tea. Had steak in peppercorn sauce, new pots and roasted veg the tea and cake. After that we went off to Gardening club which I have now joined. It was about the latin names of plants with some lovely slides. I've learnt loads and she is the tutor for some of the courses. I wanted to do one but my day off didn't match so I said I may come next year. I really want to learn to prune.
We drove along the coast and through a couple of villages I don't think I have ever been to. I might go next week and have a walk along the coastal path. I used to love walking by the sea when we lived in a coastal village in Scotland. I feel better for being out.
Not sure what to do tomorrow because I need to pay some bills but don't really want to go into the city. I don't want to see anyone I know. I could catch the bus though which is easy and quite jolly.
I fell asleep in the deck chair while contemplate what to do next in the garden. Oh and I won the first ticket in the raffle which meant I got to pick. I liked an owl when I bought the ticket. It is metal and can have a tea light in it. I got it for the summer house. I will put a battery light in it.Smile

Hello! Biff, Chip and Kipper Angry. They are so terrible you have to cry laugh.

Have been busy the last few days but back in the game now... maybe.

.

foxessocks · 20/09/2019 07:15

Argh Thomas the tank engine books, dd absolutely loved thomas when she was about 2 and we read them constantly. I've only just managed to get her to part with a couple of them!

ExpletiveDelighted · 20/09/2019 07:48

My abiding memory of my second maternity leave (DCs almost exactly two years apart) is reading endless Thomas books with DS every time DD napped. As for Biff, Chip and Kipper, I had a year off work when DCs were in years R and 2 and helped with reading in their classes so had more than my fill of them too. I did have a soft spot for Grandma though, her knitting needles piercing the bouncy castle and her car getting cut off by the tide. That one where they go strawberry picking too.

TooStressyTooMessy · 20/09/2019 09:44

Self centred post coming up...
I’ve not been on here for a few days as I finally plucked up the courage to speak to my parents about how difficult their visits were Shock and am now not too sure how to move forward. If anyone is interested I have made a thread
In relationships and if you want to comment either there or on here I would really appreciate it as I think you are all very sensible Smile. Don’t expect it at all though as I know everyone is busy.

Bower, sorry things have been so shit for you at work. Have been thinking of you packing up your things. I bet some of it could be decluttered but I also think there might be some teachers or TAs that would love your resources. Are there any you get on with at the school that you could ask?

Right, flying... must get into Aldi.

ChicCroissant · 20/09/2019 10:07

Morning!

Expletive I meant to say last night that I feel your pain with the orthodontist visits, my DD is out of school for around an hour and a half for each appointment (usually when it breaks!) and she's in the chair for less than 10 of those. It is a pain!

Only did one load of laundry yesterday - I checked the machine before I went to bed in case I'd left one in, but found it still hanging on the line this morning when I couldn't find the peg bag Blush It will be fine. Another two loads out there now.

I must wash towels today as well, I have a terrible habit of using them all - some of the white ones need a bit of a soak first, could do it in the bath and use it as a cleaning opportunity

I feel I spend the majority of my time decluttering and tidying rather than actual cleaning so have been focusing more on the cleaning this week.

Sorry, wandered off there without hitting post ...

I gave my tuppence worth there stressy. I've two beauties who are very dysfunctional. I do sympathise with people trying to deal with extended family.

TooStressyTooMessy · 20/09/2019 10:50

Thanks lisette - hadn’t realised how things were with your parents Flowers.

Meant to link the thread; it’s here.

Laundry catch up for me too today. Also planning home bleugh.

IVEgottheDECAF · 20/09/2019 11:01

Good on you for setting them straight stressy! Their cancelling the next visits is overly dramatic but nevermind, hopefully the visits will become less stressful now everyone knows where they stand. FWIW i would have told them long ago and i would not have been so pleasant about it.

Lisette1940 · 20/09/2019 11:09

Thanks stressy. My father and sister have very angry aggressive (depressive?) personalities which my mother has interpreted as a strength because no-one messes with them. My mother has difficulties with social interaction and tends to misread people and I think that's how she ended up with Dad. Anyway she idolises the other two. I'm very much isolated within the family and have no contact with any of them now - they all now live in Australia. But I've a lovely husband and son so I'll be okay. I remember my granny pulling me aside when I was 16 after yet another family meltdown and she told me to make sure I got away from them when I was older because there was something wrong with the way they behaved. She was right, God bless her.

Lisette1940 · 20/09/2019 11:12

I've woken up late today. No school today so we are lazing around. Either I do the ironing or Ned does!

TooStressyTooMessy · 20/09/2019 11:12

Your granny sounds like she was looking out for you well lisette.

Thanks Ive Grin. Hope you are getting on ok.

Thanks as well Chic.

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/09/2019 11:41

Lisette you can't choose your family....

Lisette1940 · 20/09/2019 12:54

Granny lived with us and was universally loved.

Have worked from home, made waffles, watched Diane in Denmark, done laundry and kitchen cleannup. I look a wreck so I might have a quick shower before heading out. No zone cleaning done but house presentable.

Swimming lesson after lunch.

Lisette1940 · 20/09/2019 13:00

Lisette1940 · 20/09/2019 13:20

I didn't know how to make such links! Hurrah.

LivingInLaputa · 20/09/2019 17:19

Hi. Sorry have been AWOL. Things pretty rubbish still tbh for many reasons. Had that psych appt yesterday though, finally! She’s diagnosed me with inattentive ADHD 😱😱😱 and is giving me meds (methylphenidate) in the next few weeks once I’ve had ECG etc. Feeling relieved but completely overwhelmed. As usual, lol.

In other news DD1 got her period again on September 2nd... and it’s not stopped yet! I’ve heard they can be crazy in the first year or so but this is ridiculous. She’s getting tired and headachy so I’ve put her on iron (and vitamin D) for a bit and I’m hoping the GP will agree to blood tests but I’m not sure what else to do. 😰

Congratulations ive sorry I missed the announcement! Hope all going well.

Hugs to all.
