Ok. 1st of January.

It's a long running thread, but we like new people. Just be aware if we seem cliquey it is simply because some of us have known each other for many mumble mumble years.

Respect. We won't tell you what you are doing wrong if you don't tell us. hint if you tell us we are doing it wrong we will tell you you are wrong

Babysteps. If you are new start here. If you dropped off the fly wagon, start here. Basically start here.

Missions. Do these, if you start with the babysteps you will end up doing these during the course of the month.

Decluttering - you can't clean clutter. But experience has shown that fly lady is good for routines but there are other methods that work better for decluttering. Feel free to mix and match.

Emails - feel free sign up to them. Most of us don't because there can be a lot, ergo whilst you are welcome to sign up for them; we don't generally recommend it. especially as one of the babysteps is to delete them anyway

Linkies. We will be linking to the launch pad from there you can get to babysteps, missions, flight plans etc etc. Be aware that some don't update until the date that they are on (eg looking at the links before midnight on Monday will not show the information for Tuesday iyswim)

We have the same problems zoo it is horrific. Thankfully farmers are determined, stubborn and like the paper with their breakfast so some of the roads are gritted in the name of the morning paper.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/01/2019 22:24

Cold here too. Main roads are gritted but our estate never is. That reminds me, I might actually buy some salt / grit this year as the local hardware shop sells it.

Phone call went well thanks, remains to be seen how much work there is that I can actually do but they want to take me in which is great. Paperwork and stuff to sort first though.

Other ta da although not really. Took passport forms to post office for their check and send thing. Bits are wrong. Now have new forms to fill out!

Cagliostro · 29/01/2019 22:41

Saw the doctor, it happened to be the lovely lady who saw me often during pregnancy. Prescribed propranolol as requested.

Also got some storage bits in wilko, and some next size clothes for baby in Morrisons, so I managed a little considering I’d not left the house since Thursday. I think yesterday was, hopefully, peak withdrawal day.

Also did some admin stuff like working further towards getting DS referred for OT.

Scan tomorrow (ovaries being bastards) and hopefully more admin stuff.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/01/2019 22:48

So glad you got seen by someone lovely Cag.

Lisette1940 · 29/01/2019 23:46

Glad to hear that GP was nice Cag. I was on beta blockers for Graves disease while other thyroid meds kicked in. It was bliss to have a heart rate of 60 instead of 144 BPM.

Need to get ds a renewed passport. Keep forgetting.

👋

Hi,
Sorry haven’t been around much. I’ve been teaching for two days so more work load and had to show supply what to teach one of my normal classes as better for kids to have familiar face. I quite enjoyed it actually it seems easier than KS2. Paid for kitchen today a huge bit out of my bank account🤭 starting the decorating tomorrow. Going to try and do all of it bar the ceiling. Then put dresser back and start finding the boxes with the stuff that goes in and on it. Could be fun ...DH!

Not much in the way of ta das just washing up, washing and vacuuming. Oh cleaned bathroom at weekend and washed basin again today. Big ta da today was making a sticky toffee pudding in the Everhot. DH came out afterwards and laughed “It’s huge” he exclaimed. Imagine a roasting tin. “ It will last us a week “ claimed DH. I’ll put some in naughty corner. It said apricots on the top but I also chopped bits of ginger and put in. Next time will do it with dates as traditional here. Must experiment more with stove.

cags Glad you were seen and lovely doctor too. Mine will be wondering where I am. Hope you feel better soon.
I’ve sorry you not feeling great. Hope it will pass soon.
Hills thanks it snowed like mad this morning going to work but stopped and some lying in garden. Looking frosty at 10pm but don’t have to go to work till afternoon.

Waves to everyone else. 👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋👋

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/01/2019 07:40

We have had enough snow to close school. Ds is delighted. Me not so much I had things to do today that can't be done when there is several inches on the ground and I am breaking in new breaks on my car. Hmm

So I am going back to bed for some more sleep.
Insomnia hit last night, and then shark week.

I've been using YakTrax on my shoes in the ice. Makes getting around so much easier.

Sproutingcorm · 30/01/2019 11:05

Hills we have snoowwww!

Sass hope burst water main not turned to ice!

Toostressy bought two bags salt at supermarket this morning thanks to your reminder!

Glad tooth pain easing Foxes!

Waves to Lisette (name change noted !). Just googled Yaktrax and they look really good, I'm definitely going to get some for wreck2, so thanks for recommendation!

Hurrah for lovely doctor Cag! (I also have bastard ovary - soon to be removed thank heavens along with the rest - so sympathise hugely X

I also take beta blockers and recommend them heartily! (Actual heart fine but have small rhythm issue.) I get very anxious driving - if you drove here you would immediately understand why (!) - and an unexpected side effect of taking bbs is I don't get as anxious as I did previously behind the wheel. -Still try and avoid as much as possible in town though which infuriates dh. Fine in country though except when having to reverse for miles down narrow bumpy lane for ruddy great potato picker--.

Arf at your ginormous sticky toffee pudding Bower! Grin. Your DH must have thought he died and gone to heaven didn't he?!! Grin

Mog love the sound of your dresser laden with decorative crockery and the Morrocan chicken! I think that warrants a domestic goddess award Smile. I aspire to having a lovely dresser with best plates and glass etc ...one day ...ATM I have horrid table which I call "the side board" covered in long table cloth, behind which hide two cardboard boxes containing extensive collection of table linen (classy eh?) Confused.

Hope sickness easing I've and that you managed some decent sleep yesterday Zoo.

I am having a panicky/dithery/bit teary morning. All I have managed is dog walk and trip to supermarket! Dont know what's wrong with me! Apart from constant worry about Brexit and -our status if we crash out with no deal--. Even though I complain about the tedium of office work, and I work minimal hrs per week, I miss it when I'm not doing it (tax inspectors here for week). Must pull myself together! I love the snow but it's very grey and dreary here with it. And can't go in to details but let's just say that late pils "legacy" still far-reaching and has current day implications for sil and DH and it's all a bit crap!

Sorry! None of that was about Flying! Must get cracking!

Keep safe on the roads everyone!

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/01/2019 11:36

Our dusting semi melted and froze resulting in few crunchy areas, not much else.brught and crisp here now
Unfortunately my back appears to have s snapped as bending at certain degrees is causing shouting shocks through left back pelvis.niceHmm
Luckily do could walk in lil zoo and is covering camhs with D's today as I can't only sit with knees to chest!I suspect sciatica...hey ho

Tada
Everyone fed and watered
Littertray and bins
Clear up furball
Lay and slept(and still I'm tired!)

Not expecting get much done today...

foxessocks · 30/01/2019 12:09

No snow here but it was very Icy on the school run.

Ta da
Mopped kitchen floor
Tidied living room
Hoovered downstairs and stairs
Made cakes with ds 🍰
Dishwasher on
Washing hung up
Washing on
Cleaned some of the kitchen cupboards
Made ds lunch

I'm going to attempt to get ds to have a nap today because he's clearly exhausted but doesn't want to nap anymore , it's not a fun stage!

MogTheSleepyCat · 30/01/2019 12:51

Afternoon all,

Glad GP was helpful Cag
Bower that pud sounds amazing!!
Zoo sorry to hear about the back, go easy

DS went into school this morning as he seemed more back to normal, and an hour later I got a phone call to collect him as he was struggling. So we're back home in the warm.

Feeling rather pleased with myself (I know its not the done thing to boast, but I'd love to share) Last night I got my 10% award at slimming world and won the slimmer of the week too. I've shifted almost two stone since I started and I feeling really motivated to keep it going.

So with that in mind I am batch cooking some lovely thick soups this afternoon.

MogTheSleepyCat · 30/01/2019 12:52

SC here is my dresser!

Flying Resolutions for the Fledglings
Sproutingcorm · 30/01/2019 13:01

Oooooohhhhh, thank you for that lovely pic, that's cheered me up no end Mog it's BEAUTIFUL!!!!!!

Sproutingcorm · 30/01/2019 13:04

Mog And yay to being slimmer of the week too - 10% sounds a lot - bloomin' well done Star Star

Quick question - what do six/seven month old babies eat please? - as two of them are popping in for casual lunch tomorrow. I've forgotten!

HillsBesideTheSea · 30/01/2019 13:20

I have dressor envy EnvyEnvy

SC depends on the parent.... some little/nothing. some pots of prepped food, some finger food. that age of baby is the worst to plan ahead for. Speak to the parent and see what they can suggest

OP posts:
Sproutingcorm · 30/01/2019 13:34

Thanks Hill's I have already asked and no reply! We'll see... .

Cagliostro · 30/01/2019 13:42

I would expect that either they will be having standard baby food, and thus parents would bring their own, be it a jar or a home made thing, or they will be BLW, in which case the whole idea is they can have whatever the parents have. So either way, I wouldn’t really expect to have to cater specifically for that age TBH, as generally the parents would have it covered

Cagliostro · 30/01/2019 13:46

I am none the wiser about my bastard ovaries, as the sonographer didn’t tell me anything, just said to make an appt with the doctors in a week to discuss. Apparently that is normal procedure but the other times I’ve had Diagnostic World scans they must have been rebels, as they definitely told me what they were doing and seeing. So now I’m a little weirded out/panicky, and that is quite aside from the laughable idea of being able to book a routine appointment a week away 🤦‍♀️ Try a month 🤦‍♀️

Sproutingcorm · 30/01/2019 13:49

OK Cag thanks! That's v helpful. I am thinking big batch of carrot and coriander soup for adults to have with salad, baguette, cheese, smoked meats etc, and half way through cooking, preparing some of carrot without spices to add to pots, perhaps another root veg, to make puree for the babes.

Or if short of time, might just pick up some good quality jars.

Thankfully DD back at school today and bug didn't develop. Did warn parents of twins about it though and they said not to worry as babies off for vaccs in the morning so will be cranky anyway!

Sproutingcorm · 30/01/2019 13:54

It's v frustrating about ovary Cag but try not to worry Flowers. They may have found cysts (very common) which mostly are benign. And if there are cysts they can be solid or f!uid-filled and it all takes a bit of explaining, but not necessarily anything nasty ifyswim. Hope appt comes through soon anyway. X

Cagliostro · 30/01/2019 14:20

Thanks :) I have been told in the past that I had lots of small cysts and the endocrinologist said I have PCOS. I’m assuming that when I’ve had worse pain, it’s been a bigger cyst or something. But no pain recently so I don’t expect anything will have shown up.

BTW important not to give honey to an under one. Other than that all we avoided was whole nuts/uncut grapes

foxessocks · 30/01/2019 14:43

sc I agree with cag I would never expect a host to provide for my dc when they were that age, I would usually have a few little snacks in my bag just in case but mostly they just had what we were having, so in this case a bit of bread dipped in soup would have been perfect! (Sounds so tasty btw!)

Cag hope you get an appointment quicker than a month so you get answers!

Well ds didn't sleep Hmm he played in his room quietly for an hour or so and then he got louder so I went upstairs and he was busy chucking his toys around. I think that's it for naps now Sad end of an era!

Sproutingcorm · 30/01/2019 14:51

Thanks Foxes I'll see how much energy I have in the morning in that case! All a bit last minute so don't think they'll hold it against me if pretty basic!

That sounds tough going for you with ds ATM. Transitions are difficult! That much I do remember! Flowers

Sproutingcorm · 30/01/2019 14:52

Had forgotten about honey and nuts thank you Cag!
