OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Fluffy pillow and embrocation > Hills

Bower Sad about your dd and travels but you and your dh have done your parenting job very well if she is confident to fly the nest as it were! Sorry to hear about palpitations/dizziness etc but glad you have another week to recuperate. Take it steady!

Cag all hell broke loose in the office yesterday afternoon, so didn't get time to post again, but that utterly gorgeous picture of Cagletini made my day Smile Smile. And, to be sure, don't we all have the urge to fall asleep in a plate of food sometimes? Grin Grin Enjoy your child free time today with your dh!

Parsnips are one of my favourites too Zoo and add another dimension to soup and veg dishes imho (as do turnips). Your menus sound delicious as ever!

Steggy good luck with the no-oven meal planning!

Glad you are feeling a bit better Foxes and retail therapy always helps!

Hi ladies Flowers

Jumping in if that's okay?

Was with you for a while whilst I was pregnant. Since then I got poorly, had our amazing long awaited DS (now 14 months), I didn't get better after having baby and am now officially classed as "severely disabled" ConfusedConfused (which I don't believe I am and don't feel!) and am still under 7 hospital specialists supporting me and investigating stuff. DS also going into hospital in Nov for hypospadias (birth defect) repair.

So yeah! Been a lot going on. Had a cleaner for a bit bc wasn't coping, then couldn't afford her as not able to earn like I planned. But good ol' flylady has helped me baby step my way back towards some sanity!!

Looking forward to flying in a flock Grin

foxessocks · 03/10/2018 07:00

Dd woke up at about 5am this morning complaining of earache Sad she is very snotty so I think it's just a head cold which she has had for a few days but possibly just got worse with build up of snot! We've given her Calpol and put the TV on for her, she's eating breakfast so I'll see how she is in a bit and decide on school.

Have a toddler group this morning and then I was meant to be doing some shopping but I don't know now and if she goes to school I don't know if I should stay close to home just in case I get a call.

Decisions decisions.

foxessocks · 03/10/2018 07:01

I remember you Dani good to hear from you although that all sounds really hard , take it easy!

Spreadingcudweed · 03/10/2018 07:06

OP posts:
danigrace · 03/10/2018 07:10

Thanks foxes Smile
I hope your DD is okay and you make it through the day unscathed!! Could you do any of your shopping online?

DS currently still asleep which is some kind of record!
Our plan today:

  • morning routine (standard flylady MR)
  • library rhyme time
  • baby swimming lessons
  • straight to Manchester to sort some kind of special football shirt thing for DH...
  • 15 minutes paper decluttering in my pantry (hopefully things won't fly out when you open the door by the end of the month) Blush
  • whatever the daily mission is

I made a beef stew for the slow cooker yday for tonight's dinner bc knew we'd be having a busy day and I will likely be half dead by tea time!!

Have a good anti procrastination day all!

danigrace · 03/10/2018 07:12

Thank you very much Spreadingcudweed Smile

Spreadingcudweed · 03/10/2018 07:18

Still to do
Drop lil zoo
Wash all lower floors
More ironing

I'd hoped to shop once dp here but depends on state D's.if he's freaking it messes my anxiety in shops etc and I'm feeling quite fragile(I get constantly cold when I'm getting unwell and I feel freezing despite no one else feeling it's chilly here☹️)

stegosauruslady · 03/10/2018 08:14

I'm working today, and trying to squeeze in a million jobs around that! Also watching a friend's toddler this evening as her DP is having a rough time so she is taking him out to take his mind off things...means I have to stay out of bed and in clothes until they come to pick him up after 10 tonight though! I'm never dressed after 7pm!

Jobs for the day...

Shower and clean bathroom
Food shopping
Work
Hoover hall stairs and landing
Tidy hall
Dishes
Dinner
Packed lunches
Cat litter tray
Bring up wood for fire
Get cash out to pay fire people tomorrow
Fantasise about baking bread when I get my new oven...I might start a sourdough culture in preparation!

foxes Hope DD is feeling better soon, there are so many back to school bugs going around (we have had nits already!)

Bowerbird5 · 03/10/2018 09:18

Morning. Wecome danigrace, sorry to hear about you difficulties. Can you get disability payment increased to help pay for cleaner? I know there has been lots of changes to this lately not for the better.
I took full dose of meds last night and slept like a log only just waking up. I think it will have done me good.
Foxes I had ear ache with my virus. Sinus blocked which contributed. I am still coughing four weeks later which I forgot to mention to GP.

SC thanks. She has been living down south for about 8 years I think it is the fact that she came home for the summer months and now we have got used to having her here again and to not see her for a whole year seems to much. We usually see her three or four times a year. The fact that my health hasn’t been great too. She is going with boyfriend and another friend. I’m more concerned about Thailand really. She knows her way around Singapore fairly well as we have been there for stop over a few times about six actually. I am a worrier, like my mum.

Anti procrastination.
Fill in job application even if I don’t send it.
Ring tiler for bathroom. I could do it myself if wrist wasn’t buggered. Just need regrouting I hope but he could also sort the floor out as previous plumber /tiler didn’t board it out like asked and of course they came up so although in place, wobble.

Plan for today
Feed animals
Feed self, no one else here today.
Make bed, put clothes away.
Tidy kitchen, empty bin. Attempt to wash floor if too much wait till DD back and ask her to either mop it or bring Polti up from bottom shed.
Sort one bag of RBC from school I think it might be the last one but it is big supermarket bag full. Remove all bags and vacuum, replace bags.
Ring best friend and see what she is up to this afternoon. Sometimes she has afternoon off and then we could do something perhaps a short walk, tea, craft shop or buy some bulbs then DD could plant them before she goes. Sounds like a plan!
Make mince.

Cagliostro · 03/10/2018 09:39

Morning all and welcome back dani :) sorry about the health issues. I am a disabled mum also, but it’s an invisible/variable condition (or a multitude of them really) so sometimes I feel fine. Others not so much!

Art class this morning for the Caglets, they’ve done well getting on with some work but I really need to jump in the shower quick smart or we will be late leaving like last week.

foxessocks · 03/10/2018 11:41

Thanks everyone , dd went to school but they called me in at about 10.30 saying she was just lying down in the classroom and crying so I went and picked her up (and felt terrible for taking her in but she was chatting to her friends and running on the way to school like usual!). She is watching TV now and seems ok. I'll take her to the doctor if it gets any worse but I think it's just a cold / virus thing. Hope she's better for tomorrow as she has a little after school thing and she was so excited that her daddy was going to try and come . Ah well.

So we didn't get round to the shopping but never mind (I could do it online but it isn't urgent I can do later in the week we'll see how it goes!)

I was very stressed out when the school called as we were at a toddler group and ds was having a tantrum and then I couldn't get him in the car. Gave myself a headache which hasn't shifted.

Anyway enough moaning sorry. Going to drink my Brew then make cheesy pasta for lunch (dd request) and get ds down for a nap. And then I'll definitely make the most of my time and do some flying! (Maybe).

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/10/2018 11:46

ta da
pick up parcel held hostage at post office
cancel physio appointment
potatoes on to boil - lets see if i can rescue the stupid pies...

Now to dose up on pain killers, a hot water bottle and finally start work work Hmm

Bowerbird5 · 03/10/2018 13:25

Oh my goodness I feel such a lot better this morning. No one here so I can get on with things and have a little rest in between. Stress levels have gone right down. Not sure if it is talking to GP, the meds ( if taking a full dose 10mg is better maybe this is the way to go) or the fact that no one is here. I must admit seeing DH sitting around when if I was able I would be doing cleaning stresses me out. I have just cleaned the shower trap AGAIN no one else ever thinks to do this Yuk!

SassitudeandSparkle · 03/10/2018 14:02

Hills hope the pain has eased now, and welcome back Dani. Hope your DD is doing OK now, foxes

Not much flying here, but at least I had a morning without phone calls! A few texts from DD but nothing serious.

DH is away at the moment so we have an exciting for DD evening planned of games that DD wants to play but I am looking forward to a day without homework. Will get bags packed and ready for tomorrow early so we can have a lovely, relaxed evening.

Stilllivinginazoo · 03/10/2018 14:07

foxes our gp says if meds don't control pain or has any issues with hearing(sounds underwater/bit deaf) or a rising temp they will see children.antibiotics aren't given routinely for ear infections anymore as (I'm told by doctor) it makes negligible difference in recovery time....hope poor thing feels better soon.earache is horrible.hope your headache passes too!

Bower take it steady!

Cag hope caglets enjoyed art

Dinner tonight-lamb mince with cumin and mint.buttered cabbage and pasta for lil zoo and D's.shepherds pie for do n me,soy version dd2

Cagliostro · 03/10/2018 14:33

Art was great and messy! DH and I didn’t get to do any planning as the baby was awake so she shared our brunch. We then decided to get her shoes (she’s walking really well now and was even toddling round kicking a football earlier 😍 happy DH 😍 so it’s time) but she fell asleep 🤦‍♀️

Struggling to get on with work now, we are often tired when we get in. I think we need to have some kind of plan each day TBH as then I won’t be sat thinking, what do we do now. We are doing well with getting work done but I’m very aware we could do a lot better (now that the Caglets are actually happy to get on with it) so I want to try and fit more in and not waste time faffing.

I dunno, maybe a whiteboard with the day’s plan written on the night before? I want to get in the habit of packing bags the night before too so maybe it could be tied in with that.

Cagliostro · 03/10/2018 14:47

Just catching up, hope poorly people get better soon.

Oh zoo poor DS 😰 that doesn’t sound like him at all, he must be so distressed. When is the appt, or was the letter just saying he’s on the system? Can he try and articulate what is scaring him so much, is it worse on particular days due to different classes (could be teachers or kids in those classes)... it’s so hard as he’s probably so worked up that he can’t see the wood for the trees. Writing exercise sounds good. Maybe he could try turning them into some poems like writing a haiku or something?

On a totally unrelated note, your lamb dish makes me hungry whenever you mention it, do you have a recipe please?

foxessocks · 03/10/2018 15:11

Thanks zoo she's playing an imaginary paw patrol mission at the moment so I don't think we need to see the doctor at the moment anyway! Calpol seems to be doing the trick. She said it felt blocked earlier but she has got a cold and she doesn't seem to be struggling to hear.

I'm going to declutter the dining table and the porch I think.
