OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/10/2018 10:47

I appear to have whittled the pointy stick into effigy of staff at D's school and accidently set fire to it.....

Cagliostro · 02/10/2018 13:23

Ooh steg what pirate board game is this?! Bloody love board games although don’t have much time to play ATM. We were playing something little every day when we first moved but we’ve got out of the habit already 😰

The baby pretty much sums up my feelings on the day. Have transferred her to sofa successfully (carrying her up to bed without her waking is unlikely) and need to clean up the lunch detritus and get on with some more home ed while we have the chance. Friend still coming at 3 so we can do English with the two big ones but there’s no tap class tonight (which is good as although things are easing up I still don’t feel able to leave the house in case it gets heavier again, that has happened before). So will have longer to play.

I didn’t feel up to cooking the lovely mackerel fillets I ordered so we had boiled eggs instead. Hence the mess.

Cagliostro · 02/10/2018 13:24

I forgot the photo of said baby

SassitudeandSparkle · 02/10/2018 15:51

For the second morning in a row, phone calls about arranging appointments (started 8.00am today, trying to get DH to take a cancellation!) and then a short-notice business trip for DH which meant a bit of flapping at home to pack (or at least prep) his stuff.

Might cheat and get a takeaway tonight, we are back late due to an after-school club and it's the one night of the week that DH normally cooks for us!

House not good, but did shine sink yesterday in Babystep effort. Must maintain ....

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/10/2018 16:03

Sc you summed it up perfect ly as I . Want DD to have a naive time at home as she won’t be here for a year. I woke uap this morning really tears and did the RBC in the sitting room and w. Showershe vacuumed and he did other room and As he is not Familiar with emptying vacuum pressed the wrong button and promptly emptied it all over the floor. I had to laugh.
Met friendDhahran for coffee then went to dentist while DH and pal had a bacon sarnie. Don’t have to go for 6mths. Yeah! DH said he and DD were worried about me this morning as I seemed so stressed. So they have noticed but don’t realised they have added to it by not doing much. Like you say SC we do lots of little bits that noOne notices.😃

Bloody iPad.

Cabs that photo really made me smile. She is so gorgeous, I can remember mine falling asleep like that.

Feel unwell. Luckily going to GP soon. Feel dizzy. Light headed and earth racing abit bugger.

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/10/2018 18:19

stegosauruslady · 02/10/2018 18:59

My oven is being cut off on Thursday, so I have to cope for an indeterminate number of days (but at least until Monday) with the slow cooker and microwave only. I think it will be ok, I might plan a chippy tea in there somewhere too though! I will spend some time fantasising about how ace the new oven is going to be though.

zoo Be kind to yourself! I do find a good howl can be pretty cathartic though, so I hope you are feeling much better for it.

Stilllivinginazoo · 02/10/2018 19:14

steg I'm sure it will be worth it.and if it's getting cooler where you are slow cooker it all the way!!(chilli,Bolognese, stew.happy winter days❤️)
I'm planning make myself and dd2 a risotto with mushrooms and big tray roast squash(my craving food at mo) and reduced so I bought them parsnips which are dd2 fave.bit stray broccoli left so that'll prob go in too as who says no to anything with cheese and broccoli?! Comfort food at its best ❤️

Bowerbird5 · 02/10/2018 20:00

Yum sounds delicious.

GP has signed me off for another week just for ankle then I talked to him about light headed ness and palpitations. He said not surprised as he knows the stress has been building. Talked me through problems and possible solutions. He is such a good GP as he drew and explained how the cycle goes. I think and said maybe the stress has increased because I can’t get out for a walk which is one of my distress things and he says that could have therefore increased my stress levels. I am just having a gin now. I forgot to ask him about that but fairly sure he would approve. He likes gin! I might try and find an unusual miniature 😁
Stego you are getting yours before me. DH started emptying the kitchen while home instead of some housework that need3 done ours isn’t coming until November. First the stove then two weeks later the kitchen and apparently they will be there for a couple of weeks😳😱
I am planning too.
Like you slow cooker. Microwave in dining room.DD has a ?pot very quick. Not sure if we have room for all of them as dining room small.
I’m fantasising about long slow cooked meals in new ovens. It will take a bit of adjusting and I will miss my lovely cooker as it is racing green and brass. Oven needs a bit of attention but top and hob still as good. I’m giving it away.
Oh Bake Off is on!

Cagliostro · 02/10/2018 20:09

We’ve just taken a break from watching celebrity masterchef to watch bake off :o problem is all these things make me hungry.

I did do a nice dinner (sausage gravy casserole thing) but the state of the kitchen from cooking it, and the state of the living room from the baby eating it, is dreadful.

HillsBesideTheSea · 02/10/2018 21:38

Fuck it all!

Too tired to function, too caffinated to sleep. Pissing about on the internet for a little while and hoping to sleep sooner rather than later.

tbf many things have been done just not the thing needed to be done. However, there will be help tomo and I have a day to work from home with ice cream tub besides me from the comfort of bed no one will know or care it will be fabulous

Cagliostro · 02/10/2018 22:47

ta da
✅English Japanese RE and maths
✅more printing of maths stuff
✅planning with friend about biology lessons
✅dealt with very controlling DD (I know it’s an anxiety thing but aaaargh)
✅dealt with grumpy arse baby
✅made a yummy dinner (sausage stew)
✅put drying on again as still wet

Caglets have art club tomorrow which means DH and I can go for a date. But really we need to do some HE planning over brunch.

Bowerbird5 · 03/10/2018 00:16

Enjoyed Bake Off though DH phoned on the last third. He said he felt sad leaving DD at the station as he won’t be back when she leaves, she cried. I’m crying just thinking about it. A whole year without seeing her is unbearable.
Hills were you making the pie or watching Bake Off? I rarely make them now as our local(5,6 m) butchers make them. So depending which village I go to if I want pie I buy theirs. I also pick up a couple if we are in the Lakes from The Pie Mill as they make about six types of individual pies.
I felt a bit better after the glass of gin. I have now found my tablets and I have taken a whole one instead of the half I usually manage so I should sleep well and no snoring DH.

HillsBesideTheSea · 03/10/2018 04:35

Making the pie. Can't buy as allergies. Has to be made.

Need a new new physio HmmSad Awoke with pain at 3:30am, still awake and painkillers not touching it.
