OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Really insanely busy, social week. I am really going to regret this by the weekend.

Must get up.

Cagliostro · 30/10/2018 09:53

iPad work and maths done, and we’ve continued working on DD’s Halloween costume. This involved setting fire to a secondary school blazer that we got in a charity shop. Mwahahaha. Was rather cathartic. If a little smoky.

Hope no-one minds but I'm in a rush today and just thought it easier to go straight to a new November thread rather than faffing about with an interim one for precisely one day! Obviously, if anyone else wants to take over the thread-leadership they need only shout, but if not, I'm happy to continue for a bit.

So, the new NOVEMBER Fledgling Fly thread can be found HERE!!

P.S. I will be out of range of Wi-Fi for the rest of the day so please would someone mind welcoming newcomers and everyone else on Nov thread until I can get back on it tonight/tomorrow morning? Thank you!

zoo dds school had Victorian dress up day this week (not dd year thank goodness!) and they all looked frozen! Lots of people forgot too looking at fb group but the school had spare outfits so hopefully your dd will get something (why have it on first day back from half term it's too much to remember!)

Ta da
Got dd to school on time despite ds huge tantrum so I had to carry him to school with no shoes or coat on I physically couldn't get them on him so put them in his bag and did it once he calmed down! Argh!
Been supermarket with ds (he was actually well behaved at that point phew!)
Took recycling
Picked up dry cleaning
Bought new bath mat
Went to post office
Got something out of freezer for dinner needs to be quick again so more leftovers as we've got hair cuts after school

Ds is having cheese and an orange for lunch that's all he wanted and watching pj masks and then to get him to BED (I hope!!)

foxessocks · 30/10/2018 12:15

X post sc thanks for the new thread!

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/10/2018 12:53

foxes lost count many times I've held zoolets like rugby balls minus various items of clothing in order to get another to school/nursery on timeGrin
In my house at least was verging on normal!!
I remember going thru phase dd2 about not having her hair brushed.after one particularly stressful morning we reach latest time to leave before would be late in stalemate of birds nest hair refusing my hairbrush welding hand so I took her to school with it "au naturale" we were nearly late.she was in reception and class were lined up to go in.i ran across playground where teacher looked at her rather startled as she looked a right mess
Me - dd2 refuse have hair brushes today,so I'm afraid it looks a mess, but at least she's here
Teacher - (gazing at the Froth of hair and knots before her)oh dear dd2.it is rather a mess but come on let's go in were all getting cold
She never tried fight that battle again and although we are at war daily over get up she fully grasps the final warning of get dressed or I throw you out the door in pjs as she knows I'm not even joking!!
You gotta do what you gotta do

foxessocks · 30/10/2018 14:47

zoo that's a great story!! Well I'm glad it's not just me 😂

Ta da
Washing on
Dishwasher on
Meal plan next week done
Online food shop next week done
Made apple cake (thank you zoo for the recipe!)
Quick tidy living room

To do
Wake up ds (argh!)
Go and get dd
Go straight to hairdressers
Come home and get dinner straight in oven - we have some cod , chickpea tomato thing from freezer, various potatoes / veg leftovers from freezer and I'm going to roast some veg to go with it (totally channellingzoo today! Grin)
Dh is at doctors so he won't be much help unfortunately.

Cagliostro · 30/10/2018 15:05

OMG I am a total freaking disaster zone when it comes to cooking!!! Seriously can’t do anything without screwing up! Even melting chocolate ffs. I think I need a kids book to work from 😳

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/10/2018 15:58

Melting chocolate is notoriously difficult as it can size up and go grainy!!small pan just boiled water, bowl over it off heat.not touching the water and be patient!stirring til melted.xx

Cagliostro · 30/10/2018 16:55

Thanks! I have been promising the Caglets we’d bake etc for ages but just put it off. And am thus totally unrehearsed in even the basic stuff. Ideally we should try something once a week maybe

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/10/2018 17:28

I've got loads really simple things want some ideas cag
Melted mars bars(chop up and melt as above) mixed rice crispies and left to sets a good one

Cagliostro · 30/10/2018 19:14

Oooh awesome yes any ideas would be great thank you, I have said to DD that I’ll plan for a weekly baking session

Stilllivinginazoo · 30/10/2018 19:22

I will have a think n pop some on shiny new thread SC setup.x
