OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Oh dear lord I am really starting to wonder if I was insane to ever think home edding two autistic kids with a toddler was remotely possible let alone a good idea 😣 actually starting to look forward to escaping to the dentist

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 13:08

Fucking hell I feel horrific. Tooth extraction was much quicker than they thought (he was prepared to fail as I have corkscrew roots) so we had time to spare he offered to do the filling and fit my crown which had arrived. Crown turned into a bit more of a complicated situation though and I am now bleeding in two places and have had like 6 injections all over my mouth and I got really shaky. Just got taxi home and necked some ibuprofen as neatly as I could while being unable to control my lips due to numbness 🙄😳

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/10/2018 13:20

Oh wow cag what a brave bunny!!you should be so proud of yourself❤️

Stressful morning here.goy da to school to find out it's teacher training- as we no longer in full-time I seem to not get any notifications FFS...
A lot of stress for nothing!

Trips to Smyth's,b+ms and Tesco yield nothing lil zoo took a fancy too.she beg a hamster and was upset I said no due to she's not got enough birthday money for cage as well, whose go pay inevitable vet bills and how old we prevent it being a cat snack!!

Then trip Morrison's cake wanted was out of stock.ffs....

End up a tiny cake that has no dairy in it

Then trip Asda for couple Disney twisted tales books and a mlp

I've got crippling(bowel related) back pain and am fed up.fed them.i just want sit quietly

SassitudeandSparkle · 29/10/2018 13:38

Wrote myself a list this morning, haven't paid the two bills yet but have knocked off some other items.

Just going to make stew for tea now.

zoo and cag hope you are both as comfortable as you can be in the circumstances Gin

foxessocks · 29/10/2018 13:58

cag well done!! Sorry you're in pain though Sad

Zoo oh no! Definitely one of those days I hope it picks up.

I've finished my work and ds still with my mum so I have one hour to blitz the house then I need to get dd and then ds. And I need to figure out what to do about dinner as I got leftover pulled pork and coleslaw out of the freezer and I don't think it's going to defrost in time. I can heat the pulled pork up slowly and that will be fine but the coleslaw wouldn't be nice warm and also won't be nice frozen! Confused really wish I'd remembered it this morning Hmm I have nothing else in the house as food shop coming later!

Decisions decisions.

Tea and then I must start blitzing and not sit on the sofa relishing the peace!

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/10/2018 15:34

I am ok, it is fine. Today is less sucky than it started out. Halloween Wink

HillsBesideTheSea · 29/10/2018 15:36

foxes Put tubs in sink with water around (not over) heat sink principle, water pulls the cold out of the food and food warms up. Will speed up the defrosting in a safe manner.

Meet0nTheIedge · 29/10/2018 16:00

You know I never knew you could freeze coleslaw. Every day's a school day on MN Grin.

Cag - you poor thing, hope it all starts to feel better soon.

Zoo - hope your day gets better too.

Hills glad yours is getting better.

I have half an hour free, what to do. Ironing? Paperwork? Make a cuppa and put the telly on?

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 16:02

I have gone past peak pain now and feel slightly human and can talk properly. And ate a Frube in a rather undignified fashion. Yay! The others have gone to TKD. I am huuuuungry

stegosauruslady · 29/10/2018 16:05

Cag Well done! Wine and doing as little as possible this evening then? Also, home ed is kind of always a mad decision, the good kind of mad though Grin

I'm almost through my jobs, up to 25 bags either binned or for the charity shop. This Konmari is a weird way of decluttering, my house looks no better yet! I am enjoying it though and finding it easy as it is so structured.

It also appears to be infectious, DP has asked me to help him Konmari his stuff too! The DDs have been roped in, so far we have done their clothes and books, both of which now look a lot better!

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 16:14

Haha true it is a bit batshit isn’t it? So much responsibility, it is really hitting me lately as DD is now secondary age 😭 and she’s had so much angst over it all too.

They did get some work done earlier too and we have decided about how “homework” will work for them (they will have 8 sheets of maths drills a week, they had already been doing one each week day but now they’ll have 3 to do in their own time. Some are really long and others are simple so it’s down to them to fit it in when they want).

Man I’m so hungry 😭 need to phone the dentist as he’d said something about not having hot drinks afterwards but I was too dizzy by then to ask how long for. And I really want some soup.

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/10/2018 17:05

It's the very hot principle cag can restart bleeding.be careful of ice cold too

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 18:53

Ah thanks for explaining zoo that helps, I couldn’t get through on the phone.

I have in fact been eating chocolate button type things as not much else in that I can safely eat or prepare (still a bit shaky). Pain ok until Cagletini woke from nap and enthusiastically head butted me as she lunged in for a kiss 🤦‍♀️

You mentioned tummy related back ache, that’s not from the mints is it? Some sweeteners can cause problems in that area.

Others should be back in a while, I think I will go for soup but let it cool a lot. Maybe dunk in some toast although I can’t chew on either side (I’m not sure I thought this through really, I wanted to get it done sooner - while it’s still free 😳 - but I now have an issue on both sides 🤦‍♀️)

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 18:54

Am totally ordering jelly though. I don’t think I’ll be able to eat any Halloween sweets

foxessocks · 29/10/2018 19:48

meet turns out you can't freeze coleslaw!! It didn't defrost well! I did think that would happen but thought I'd chance it. Apparently the non mayo version freezes well.

Hills thanks for the tip for defrosting!

Cag hope you're feeling a bit better now. At least it's done though!

My ta das from this afternoon / evening
Mopped downstairs
Dusted
Dishwasher on
Washing on
Washing folded and put away
Tidied living room
Changed ds bed sheets
Emptied all the bins
Put bin out
Changed towels etc
Picked dc up
Cooked dinner made home made chips to go with leftovers they were lovely! Typically dd wasn't keen I think she prefers ones from the freezerHmm

Dc are finally in bed, we ended up later than usual tonight. Dd complaining her ear hurts again hope she feels better tomorrow as we've got a very busy few days.

Hope all the spinning plates have calmed down now and everyone relaxing for the evening...maybe?!

Stilllivinginazoo · 29/10/2018 20:48

cag Flumps/marshmallows,buttons,twirl minis, galaxy counters, after eights, fudge cut into smaller pieces, fruit jellies(old fashioned type-if squidge packets they very very soft) not that I have extensively tested these ideas after extractions
Grin
Foxes hope DD ok tomorrow, poor bean maybe another colds brewing and she's congested before snot starts?

Cagliostro · 29/10/2018 22:40

Oooh duly noted :o

ta da
✅cleaned up a little in the morning
✅shower at decent time
✅bit of home ed
✅got DD to put wash on
✅washed and tried baby’s new sippy cup
✅discussed some home ed with DH
✅dentist
✅lazed on sofa under duvet
✅Tesco order, think I need to edit it now though, as need some more bits and pieces for Halloween (really bad timing as I have no energy for making treats. And I can’t eat them.)

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/10/2018 22:50

Busy day here which is the theme for half term!

Some sewing done last night thanks Meet.
Still some more to do but these days I always have a sewing pile so that is ok. I lacked the skills to do one item so will need to rope in someone else for that.

Happy birthday lilzoo and sorry you had a wasted trip with DS zoo.

Sorry also you are going to work and not on holiday Hills.

Thanks for the Sabrina watching steg, it’s definitely on the list of things to watch Halloween Smile.

Going to cemetery tomorrow sounds like a good plan Ive.

I’m off to ice my sore foot - results of my new gym habit Halloween Hmm and sit for 10 mins before bed.

Wintery wing flaps to all. Bitterly cold here.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 29/10/2018 22:51

Disclaimer my cats don't drink teaGrin

VATS of tea.

foxessocks · 30/10/2018 07:07

zoo I'd love it if you did actually make your cat a cup of tea! My parents dogs love tea Brew

Ds is still asleep hooray!! Dd up early again though and she went to bed late so she's going to struggle today I think, she doesn't do well with lack of sleep. She says her ears still hurt a bit but she doesn't seem too bad. Think we'll attempt school, she says she wants to.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 30/10/2018 07:18

Well done for all Flying achievements listed and not listed everyone! Smile

Autumnal wedding with magical fairy lights sounds lovely Bower! Glad you had a good time and congrats on winning quiz!

Oh dear Toostressy do go steady with your injury. Hope it heals speedily.

Hope your visit to the cemetery today brings some comfort I've

You did bloomin' well at dentist Cag hope any discomfort has subsided

Hope your dd is ok Foxes and ear infection hadn't returned. Hope new job role going well!

Steggy WOW re: 25 black bags! I'm decluttering our play room/sitting-dining room downstairs in town and it's looking no better yet either. It looks really raggedy in fact!

Zoo hope back pain has subsidised and Lil' Zoo had a good time yesterday in the end!

Sass stew sounds just the ticket in this weather! (Cold and raining here!)

Hills glad your day improved somewhat yesterday as it went along!

Meet hope cuppa won above ironing and paperwork if you only had a 30 minutes pause yesterday!

Cheery wing flaps to Honu and to everyone else I've missed!

Weather rather disappointing here but apparently it will improve by end of week. DH made it back eventually after hideously long journey full of diversions and delays. Dhorse on good form💓.
Lots of bed-making, kitchen scrubbing, neighbour visiting and strimming achieved.

Have a good day everyone!
