OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

HillsBesideTheSea · 25/10/2018 07:56

Morning.

So much get up and go on here. Still no idea where mine went to Halloween Hmm

foxes have a lovely time with your friend
Cag happy 1st birthday to the birthday girl and sometimes we just need to vent and say it's crap
SC, Bower and everyone else Morning!!!!

Bastard food companys have changed recipes so after nearly 3 weeks of random allergy flares Halloween Hmm my body has decided it is done and would like to go on the exclusion diet to allow it to heal going to make my trip away a barrell of laughs. But feeling very crap today so even skipping coffee is possible Halloween Shock Halloween Shock The trigger appears to be in biscuits and chocolate and I suspect will take the form of an artificial sweetner or something like palm oil. Unless there is some nightshades in things that I have missed or it is an entirely new allergy. Food is going to be really really boring here for a few days. clear broths, scramble eggs that kind of boring. Maybe this will kick start some weight loss?

Ta da

Morning all. Have not been on the thread lately but have my positive pants pulled up (for now!) and am going to try to fly. Not the best start to the morning as got up at last minute (due to unavoidable late night last night but still should have got up earlier) so will have to rescue laundry and breakfast dishes when I get home.

Happy birthday Cagletini CakeBearSmile!

Glad you had a nice time with your friend SC. Sorry to hear you are back on exclusion diet Hills. Big wing flaps to everyone else.

Ta da:-
Nothing really but girls are at school, washing is on the line and I’ve just got into work.

To do:-
Few bits at work then early finish so need to make the most of it
Morning routine that wasn’t done
Get petrol
Glass recycling
Possibly deal with some leaves in the garden
Laundry
Hope to do some more in DD1’s bedroom. Have started decluttering it again in preparation for her birthday and lots more clutter coming into the house!

Best get into work.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 25/10/2018 11:01

Have a good day TooStressy!

Oh no that sounds crap about restricted diet Hills especially when going away!

So far:
triaged laundry
dw emptied
wm on
s&s
quick nip to supermarket and bakery
I have peeled a shed load of potatoes and a shed load of apples
done a tiny bit of creative 'thing'
started trying to make inroads in to boudoir floordrobe

Bowerbird5 · 25/10/2018 11:02

He has woken up early and not a headache in site. Usually sleeps until midday on first day. I have woken after a bad night with a tummy ache. Feeling quite bleugh. I had a soft drink because I was driving.
Plans have gone out the window at the moment. Having half an hour to think about best rearrangement. Meal tonight with sons at a lovely restaurant in the next village northeast.
I am tempted to drive him to Merc garage😬
He also agreed to me getting a dog so this meant he was drunk.
Need to get him some shoes apparently for wedding. We’ve had 6mths notice. They want vouchers. Easy but tempted to buy a beautiful pot dish I saw.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 25/10/2018 11:05

Oooooh you need to definitely take him up on the dog offer Bower!!! Grin

Cagliostro · 25/10/2018 14:06

Morning all and thanks for birthday wishes! Had a nice time at breakfast then saw the animals (pic of birthday girl in her dinosaur puddlesuit looking through a fence) and had fun with friends despite yesterday.

foxessocks · 25/10/2018 14:28

Awwcag love the puddle suit!

Cleaned and tidied as much as possible before my friend came and made flapjacks. Now they've gone the house all messy again where the kids were playing / eating - don't know why I bothered really! Grin ds asleep and I put most of the toys and stuff away so just going to have a sit down now for a little bit.

To do
Need to do some work as the person I'm covering for leaves tomorrow at 12 and I've been given an additional task which I need to teach myself how to do and ask any questions before she goes Shock once again wondering why I agreed to do this

Bowerbird5 · 25/10/2018 17:44

Oh she looks so cute.
I am tempted to put a photo of DH. He is snoozing on the sofa and looks like a grumpy gnome.

Went into town and got DH a pair of trousers, two shirts, a tie and a pair of shoes for the wedding. I love M&S for men. He wouldn’t let me pay for them so think I will surprise him with a weekend away while the kitchen is getting done.
Took stuff into school which was good as DH could see the amount of stuff in my filing cabinet. He can also see why I have a lot at home. Hoping to load more up to take in on Monday. I’m going to get rid of some of the games at Christmas🌲sale. It has spurred me on to get some more stuff done.

Ta Da
Stuff out of house
Washing x2 loads.
Dishwasher emptied and re loaded.
Sink shined

To do
Sort basket of stuff
Swish and swip bathroom.
Get ready to go out.

Today we stopped for a late lunch. I was still feeling a bit bleugh so had peppermint tea and never had it before toasted banana bread. Oh my have any of you done this. It is absolutely gorgeous. When I get my Everhot I am going to make banana bread then toast it on the top.

Cagliostro · 25/10/2018 17:50

TBF Cagletini has looked like a grumpy gnome herself at times today 🙄

Happy birthday to him!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 25/10/2018 21:51

Grin at grumpy gnomes.

Cagliostro · 25/10/2018 22:52

ta da
✅celebrated despite being extremely knackered! That’s all really

Bowerbird5 · 26/10/2018 04:55

A good Ta Da Cags. I bet she had fun.

DH has enjoyed his birthday I think apart from going to school with me.
We had a really lovely meal out. DD sent him a message. I bet it hurt her not to be here for her dad.
Told the boys about the Merc and the 🏍 they thought it was quite funny and one told him about some he knows who has bought a Jag but won’t go out in it because it puts the mileage up.They also pointed out that a dog wouldn’t be allowed in it. I suggested to them we bought an estate then.

Need to pack things for wedding and leave before lunch.

Bowerbird5 · 26/10/2018 04:58

Gnomes snore a lot!🍁🐿

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/10/2018 07:34

bower how do you know gnomes snore?!Grin

I'm awake but I don't want to be
Bad nice D's,nuff said....

Today our church(st David's) are planting daffodil bulbs.there are 2500 to go in so we are going down to help.i think zoolets will enjoy that!

From position on sofa I hear D's snoring and as light starts filter in ironing piles glaring at me.i believe judge by size of said mountain the girls have no clean clothes to go out in so I'd best get up and make a start.bit nippy this morning so any random shirts etc left in drawers are really going to be much use(other than modesty purposes in publicGrin)

Stilllivinginazoo · 26/10/2018 07:35

Forgot.lil zoo made us cupcakes yesterday😋

Stepping forward in October: the new look fledgling Fly thread.
Bowerbird5 · 26/10/2018 08:55

They look lovely. Yum.

I know because I was awake for 1 1/2 hrs 😬in the early hours!
Need to get up and feed cat who is yowling for her breakfast.
Not much flying today as away for the weekend.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 26/10/2018 09:29

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 26/10/2018 09:45

Apologies links so late! Went to bed v early last night as had to take DD to coach rallying point this morning which involved getting up at 5am. Then everything was delayed for a bit and then another parent and I felt in desperate need of a hot coffee and croissant after standing on chilly cobbles in the dark for heaven knows how long and for what reason! Now dashing off to fetch the furry and his stripey underpants from his holiday camp! Grin

Have a good day everyone!

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 26/10/2018 11:39

I liked your joke SC Grin.

I missed it was your DH’s birthday Bower, hope he had a good day.

Ta da:-
Half way through home bleugh
Started prepping packed tea for swimming later
Laundry under control

To do:-
Go to gym
Get petrol as didn’t go yesterday - MUST remember to do this
Possibly do food shop but that might need to be online
Finish home bleugh
Finish packed tea
Few other bits
Collapse

Cagliostro · 26/10/2018 13:34

🥁🥁[can’t find cymbals emoji to complete the “ba dum tish”] sc :o

I have achieved bog all today. Exhausted and a bit flat. I think it’s hit me how tough the last year has been in some ways - completely awesome in others of course, but I have really neglected myself and I’m trying to figure out how to change that.

foxessocks · 26/10/2018 13:45

Ta da
Dropped off dry cleaning
Supermarket
Dishwasher emptied / reloaded

Ds refused to go in his cot today so I've put him in my bed for a nap. All quiet but I'm not convinced he'll stay there! We need to change his cot into cotbed really.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 26/10/2018 15:41

Hey all, me and furry are having a bit of a slump with a cuppa currently having been running errands most of the day including collecting and delivering a document to a rude colleague who cba to say thank you. (Heigh ho...there's always one...fairly new...and hopefully he'll learn. ). Also went to chemist and supermarket and collected furry. Cleaner has cleaned downstairs thank the lord. May find the energy to do more washing later and will be making fishcakes in case DD hungry on return although not collecting her until much later. Not far away enough to justify cab this time but possibly bit unsafe to walk (through park) so looks like I'll have to drive. Hopefully won't involve inexplicable hanging around for ages like this morning!

Don't forget the petrol Toostressy! Grin
Hope you have a few quiet moments while ds naps Foxes!
Moving house and having a baby are huge achievements Cag (especially in same year) and bound to take it out of you, so don't be down on yourself!
