Stepping forward in October: the new look fledgling Fly thread.

OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Cost

Good luck I've with whatever you decide! The force of the fledglings is with you

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 24/10/2018 06:08

How strange. "X-post" was just autocorrected to "clostridium" and then to "cost"???

foxessocks · 24/10/2018 06:43

Glad you had a nice day with your friend sc

Ive good luck whatever you decide today

The dc have got up ridiculously early again (they were both awake before 6 but I have only just let them get out of bed!). I refuse to get up yet so I'm drinking my coffee and they've gone downstairs to play with the Duplo. So far no arguments! I wonder if it's because we stopped giving them supper. They're never normally such early risers. Or maybe it's this cold we've all got I suppose you don't sleep quite as well when you're bunged up and coughing.

Second attempt at the library today!

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/10/2018 07:06

Ta da
Made dc breakfast - more dippy eggs for dd and toast for ds

Cagliostro · 24/10/2018 08:12

My positive pants are in the wash.

It’s soooo lovely zoo has to be sunny side up so the yolk runs down into it when you cut it, yum. Can’t remember why DH started adding it, maybe we had eggs to use up or something, but it’s mandatory now! And extra protein can only be a good thing.

ta da from yesterday
✅didn’t kill anyone
✅washed up after dinner
✅got Caglets to shower
✅ordered Tesco in the morning, then edited it at night once DH was home but I left it too late to check out so lost all the added stuff, which included everything I needed to start batch cooking today. I was so angry at myself and had a “why do I always fuck everything up” moment. Anyway I quickly jotted down what I remembered so we can do another order for tomorrow (we have a midweek delivery saver so can only get Tues/Wed/Thurs, but we have been planning to change that). I still need to go to Asda this morning though as we need to get lunch stuff (and cash) for the Caglets to take to their art day. So I may get some ingredients for cooking some of the things.

Wondering if steg is MIA due to baby arriving... hope all ok.

Had a marvellous start to the morning as baby fell out of bed while we slept. 364 days of bedsharing before that happened. Thankfully she went feet first but I wasn’t quick enough to stop her then falling back and bumping her forehead on the radiator 😰 she is ok though, just grumpy.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 24/10/2018 13:41

I'm not sure I own positive pants! Grin

Just got ten minutes to check in before oven pings to check in and relieve the tedium of today and see what you are all up to!

Scenic walk and trip to library both sound good Zoo and Foxes

Hope you catch a break while ds naps this afternoon Foxes!

Zoo just about to pm you about something I caught unexpectedly on telly this am (NEVER normally watch morning telly but I was doing boring filing in dh's office and saw something that may be of interest)

Yes and thanks day out was a nice change thanks. I am feeling much better than when I was looking at my major project list at start of month and going all "rabbit in headlights". Feel I am more in stuck-in mode and nibbling off bits here and there every day! Mainly its thanks to this thread for keeping me going!

Hills good luck with your long list today!

Cag you've done mega well to go 364 days without Cagletini falling out of, or off, something! Think I have said on here before how dd rolled off double bed at six months and hit her head on metal side table. No harm done and hopefully the same for the baby! They bounce at that age!

Ta da:
dd packed lunch
dw on and kitched tidied up
s & s
wms on
4 hrs work 8am-12pm with a bit of telly watching and Mnsetting thrown in because it was so desperately tedious Blush
then back home to watch politics live + PMs questions while chopping and sauteeing onion, mushroom, green bean, and garlic for tonight's pasta sauce (to be finished with chopped parsley) and onion, celery, garlic, squash, onions for soup (yet again!). We have endless supply of squashes from country neighbours; working my way through them.

That's it so far! Loads still to do!

Bowerbird5 · 24/10/2018 14:01

Hi,
Haven’t had my lunch yet. Been sorting school bags and watching Housewife 49. I love that I must have watched it about 10 times but never tire of it. Watch it at least once a year. Such a shame about Victoria Wood she was so versatile. I love her observation of life.

Just having a coffee break and then shower and take stuff to school and drop off bag at charity shop. Hope not to stay at school too long as need to clean house as DH home tonight. It looks such a mess as I have been sorting stuff and packing kitchen stuff. A quick whizz around with a vacuum and shove sitting room pile in a bag because might not have time to sort.

Yep to baby off bed. I was mortified with 😧DS1 as he was quite young.

zoo Have you considered turn WiFi off? Back on when cleared by zoolets.

Some great flying on here today.

Ta Da
Fed 😺&🐔, who also finished off cat’s left overs
Cleaned out and set fire and it burst into flames so nice and cosy.
Re checked bags to go to school and burnt some of contents.
Sorted school games.
Loaded bags and charity shop stuff in car. Emptied dishwasher and re filled some.
Wash on.
Towels smelt funny and I realised didn’t get dried so re washing now.

To Do
Take stuff
Vacuum downstairs and hall.
Ironing
General tidy up, quickly
Pick DH up at 8pm.

foxessocks · 24/10/2018 14:03

Good list sc! Ds is asleep I've been watching the cbeebies ballet shoes with dd, they are really good and very peaceful to watch (especially when I still have this cold and feeling v tired again).

It's a shame we're not out and about more this half term, the weather is beautiful, but I think we really all need the rest! We are going to meet some friends tomorrow though.

Right I'm going to do 15 minutes in the kitchen now.

foxessocks · 24/10/2018 14:04

X post bower

Oh yes both my dc have fallen off the bed. And ds also fell in the bath and knocked his tooth, I was convinced it was going to go black and fall out but thankfully it was ok (possibly a little wonky now Blush)

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 24/10/2018 14:42

You are right to take it steady when you are still feeling under par Foxes!

Well done re: your list Bower! It must be very satisfying indeed to burn things! And yes, I loved Victoria Wood too, RIP!

Left ruddy courgette out of my ingred list for dishes below. I say "ruddy" because as well as squashes we have a glut of courgettes too. Was intending to start my potager next spring but I can't keep up with the chopping and cooking of all the veg we are given, never mind grow my own! Will obviously have to grow stuff that others don't but know idea what as yet!

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/10/2018 15:55

SCI remember you saying parsnips are seen as a curious over there, grow those😋😋😋😋😋will look at that link in a bit when I've done something productive for a while!!

Bower also love Victoria wood, and housewife 49.an amazing talent, sadly missed

Went library, couldn't do thing wanted on computer as man behind desk was grumpy git who said would help then didn't and time elapsed.decided as rhymetime was taking D's to verge nervous breakdown not to attorney dialogue to the tune of you owe us cost another 20mins and some help PLEASE

Snack inhaled(I have serious muchies today.think been eating too much carbs not enough protein)
Wash in drier,more on
About set to slaying kitchen filth!!

To do
Wipe filthy walls
Clean kitchen
Wash all lower floors
More washing!

Stilllivinginazoo · 24/10/2018 15:56

Wtaf?
Attempt dialogue
Confused

Cagliostro · 24/10/2018 16:44

Oh don’t get me wrong she’s fallen off plenty of stuff. Including the bed once when she was just learning to crawl and dove off headfirst (I was distracted having just got the phone call offering us the house) but this was the first time it was while we were asleep and she rolled off. She was even tucked into my shoulder. Oops.

Nice day had here but not terribly productive. Was nice to spend some time with DH
