OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Yes Zoo I have finally decided I will take it if offered.
I may or may not go after the Tutor job which is still available. Due to lack of students applying which may suit me. Might be a class in January which I then should know about my job.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 22/10/2018 20:02

Hills I actually made up a ring binder with plastic pockets for my favourite recipes a year ago. The trouble is, I can't now locate the file Blush. For individual lost recipes try: stuck in recipe book adjacent to other pumpkin recipes or other Halloween recipes? ? In pile of papers nearest to kitchen?? In kitchen drawer?? Stashed with last year's paper calendar? Stuck in Christmas file?

Zoo your various suppers tonight, as ever, sound absolutely delicious!! Good luck with early outing to tomorrow!

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 23/10/2018 05:14

Jfi: As soon as DD is off to school, I will be heading out of town to meet a friend from UK for the day, yay! (With stops at kitchen design centres and bathroom showrooms on the way there and possibly on way back too)! So probably won't be back on here for a good while! Hope it's a good 'un for everyone!

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/10/2018 06:09

foxessocks · 23/10/2018 07:08

Have a lovely day sc sounds great!

Hope visiting the shops goes ok zoo

Ds woke me up at 6 but then he went back to sleep Hmm

Got a fairly quiet day planned, need to go to the supermarket (I stupidly forgot a few things on the food delivery) and take the dc to the library but that's all.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/10/2018 07:25

Thanks foxes
Have googled opening times and we are leaving shortly to try and get all pre 9am shops cleared before others open and be heading back at latest by 1030!!

Cagliostro · 23/10/2018 09:11

Feeling proper shit this morning. My oldest friends are coming up this afternoon to play some games and I’m not even looking forward to it which is an indicator of how low my mood is. And DH is going into work early today (he was asked to do 4 days of starting early but he said no just 1). Just want today to be over 😰🎻

Forgot list again

ta da for yesterday
✅decent dinner (very simple but feels like an achievement)
✅collected rubbish
✅nice chat with friend
✅talk DD through some worries (school related, unsurprising as she was with school friends during the day for the first time since they started secondary)

Can’t actually think of anything else.

Oh but I did walk back into the room to find the Caglets watching TV while the baby was ON THE FREAKING DINING TABLE 😱 note to self explicitly tell the Caglets to watch the baby even if I’m only leaving the room for a minute. I think I’ve found a cure for my low blood pressure at least 🙄

SassitudeandSparkle · 23/10/2018 09:37

Thanks for the good wishes, DH is fine now but very wobbly after the test so spent a bit longer in the hospital than planned. Will take a few weeks for the results and probably another hospital appointment to ge them. Luckily DD was out at another activity so didn't see anything, normally we have to take her everywhere with us!

House needs some serious work, must make impression today! Back later to catch up properly.

foxessocks · 23/10/2018 12:18

cag sorry you're feeling so down today, has the day improved at all?

Sass glad your dh oknas can be, must be very worrying Flowers

I am battling a very grumpy toddler again today. About to put him down for a nap so wish me luck with that one!! We ditched the idea of library as we all need to rest today I think. My cold isn't as bad today but still pretty bunged up and tired.

Ta da
Been to supermarket
Filled up car
Dishwasher emptied / reloaded
Made dippy eggs for lunch
Washing folded
Washing hung up
More washing on
Rubbish out

Hey duggee is over now to fight with the monster about sleep Hmm

Bowerbird5 · 23/10/2018 12:21

Hope you have a lovely day SC. Careful with the skipping I know someone who tore there ligaments doing that! Not me I tripped in garden.

Cags (hmm) Caglets watching /Not watching Caglitini ! They will have us to answer to if she hurts herself. I can remember DS2 doing that and we had to remove all chairs to the side of room, looked a bit like a Drs waiting room.

Good plan zoo re DS.
Library sounds good Foxes We find it annoying if we forget shopping as we live at least 5 miles from nearest shop whichever direction you go.No shops in village and the van doesn't bother nowadays. My kids used to love the van because he had cream cakes and sweeties and sometimes if I could afford it i would weaken.

Sassy I hope everything ok a worrying time for you. The waiting is awful. I'm still waiting for some heart ones. I think it is probably stress as I had a scan.

Well TA DA bloody DA
I have got up at 8:30 and got stuck into kitchen cupboards. Started packing up for the kitchen chaos. Found quite a lot of things out of date and been ruthless.Packed up most of the baking tins. Not all will fit in and I haven't any more boxes. The kitchen looks a right mess I have washed cupboards out and having a coffee and here while it dries. Was planning to go to school early but horrible day so haven't bothered yet. Keep putting it off maybe tomorrow would be better if I pack car up today! Anti procrastination day.
Also washing load done and another to go in. Drier on soon, they are on rack but only thing i don't like is short cord.I need to find an extension lead.
plan
finish kitchen cupboards
pack school stuff and charity bags in car for tomorrow. Give myself a treat when finished.
Wish you good flying fledglings.

Bowerbird5 · 23/10/2018 12:23

I want dippy eggs now. Wonder if chicken has laid so I can have two!

Cagliostro · 23/10/2018 13:39

Just sitting while cagletini finishes lunch. Lentil stew from the freezer and cottage cheese. She’s looking sleepy so maybe she will finally have a nap. Might send the Caglets to the shop for biscuits (for when friends arrive) and hope they let them use my bank card as no cash.

No better really. Think I need to finally consider going on something (was on sertraline until getting pregnant with cagletini) as it’s turning into having more bad days than good. Problem is because they make me feel “flat” I then don’t have any good times either and tend to get even less productive than normal. Maybe I need to consider a new brand. I’m going to ask if I can also have my vitamin D tested again though as I have a feeling I may still need a higher dose. I have an appt on 6th anyway.

Right must sort the baby.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/10/2018 14:16

cag know what you mean about flat.thats why I gave up after had come off citalopram(which I got on with great for number of years then developed blinding migraines and not be able to see what zoolets were doing...nope had to stop)

Foxes gotta love a dippy egg
May I spark bit controversy-toast or bread soldiers?personally I'm a toast girl.bread fold up and results in poor dunkage...

Tada
Survived town-few wibbles but combo myself and dd2 we held him togetherjust and hot further up from fair rides before they started!go us!! We went into sally army shop at top end of town to peruse book section as treat for him.he happily leaf thru David Attenborough books for near 45mins before we tackled walk home, which incl few more mild wobbles

Clothes bought on to wash
Brown mince and add peppers, thyme, garlic and carrots and potatoes potatoes on to boiland let that cook(bean version for dd2)whilst pop local shop (dd2 watch D's) for bread and milk

Dinner eaten
Wash in drier
Washing up done
Now to unpack the bags
I promised I'd reach D's to knit this pm...

foxessocks · 23/10/2018 14:41

zoo I think I prefer toast too better for dipping but the dc prefer bread and butter so I just have what they're having (if I don't ds will come and steal mine regardless of whether he likes it or not just because it's different to his 😂)

Ds been asleep for two hours now... think he needed this nap.

Ta da
Made more apple muffins (to use up rest of natural yoghurt I had and to try them again with no peace this time as I think it made them too soggy)
Meal plan
Online food shop

I put the muffins in the oven and got a lovely surprise - dh must have cleaned the oven at the weekend while I was moping around poorly, it is sparkling! Only thing is now the top oven looks awful in comparison I'm guessing he ran out of cleaning stuff. Might give it a go at some point with soapy water.

foxessocks · 23/10/2018 14:42

Oops no PEARS not peace Grin

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/10/2018 14:53

That's kind DP surprises I would like rather than gifts which mean more stuff to find homes for/add to clutter
Shoppings all away
Second load wash on

foxessocks · 23/10/2018 16:44

Ta da
Cleaned front of fridge, chucked a load of random stuff away that was stuck on the front of the fridge

To do
15 minutes more sorting in kitchen
Cook dinner - salmon in crème fraiche sauce with peas and broad beans and I think some fried potatoes.

Stilllivinginazoo · 23/10/2018 16:55

foxes dinner sounds lush!!
I'm feeling bit in need comfort so whilst little ones will probably have pasta with broccoli and cheese,I NEED risotto in my life😂😂😂oven baked mushroom risotto with roasted squash, sweet potatoes, red peppers and broccoli on side (did I add there's a Jamaican ginger cake with my name on leapt into basket in home bargains to follow)Grin

foxessocks · 23/10/2018 17:22

Yum zoo that sounds fab. I have only make risotto once and nobody was very impressed! I shall have to try again.

foxessocks · 23/10/2018 17:23

But first I need to attempt your Apple cake!

Cagliostro · 23/10/2018 17:35

Aaah love risotto. With chorizo or some kind of fish. And always a fried egg on top

I’m exhausted and a bit wrung out this afternoon. Talked friend through some tough issues but feel like I can’t offer anything more than a hug :( was good to talk though and we played some games too.

Going to cook freezer junk for dinner. Cagletini has slept ten minutes all day.

In more exciting news, a big temporary ice rink is being built in the park right by our house!!!

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 24/10/2018 05:25

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 24/10/2018 05:57

Think i might quit my job today

Had enough

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 24/10/2018 06:04

Catching up from yesterday:

Sass good to hear the medical tests are over with and hope you and your DH slept well and that he feels less wobbly today. And hope waiting for results is not too worrying for you both Flowers

CAG sorry you are feeling so flat/low ATM. I hope you can access some good medical support if necessary Flowers. Ice rink sounds exciting!

Zoo and Foxes agree that toast, rather than bread, has superior dippy egg dunkage qualities Smile. But basically I am happy with any boiled egg and bread combo that someone else has prepared; it's never quite the same somehow when you do it for yourself!

Zoo lovely to hear of your dd2 being so supportive of your ds

Foxes Star to your DH for oven cleaning!

Don't worry Bower I was only skipping in a metaphorical manner Wink (and I don't actually have a garden path in town!). Top marks to you for kitchen clearing endeavours! Hope Jenny Penny came up with the goods!

Had a really fab day yesterday with lovely old friend (mother of one of my god-daughters) surrounded by stunning medieval architecture and lovely sunshine (although felt rather fat and frumpy beside her and she's had 4dc). Heigh ho I know that shouldn't matter! That didn't stop me enjoying yummy lunch either! Stopped at kitchen design shop on way back to which I shall definitely be returning. Things have certainly moved on since I last bought a kitchen!

Slept like a log last night even though dd seems to be taking up semi-permanent residence in my bed ATM what with DH and furry still away! Actually have some energy this morning but have office work to do - blah and gah - would be the perfect morning to declutter drawers! Never mind! Had better get on!

Encouraging wing flaps to all!
