OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Beautiful leaves Bower!

Sorry not fully caught up. Thought DS was on the mend Thursday but he then did some monster poo. Then yesterday we were having a good day he seemed much better and I was getting a lot done then he ate Cillit Bang... (had a good chomp on a soaking shower head) so off to A&E we went (was all fine thankfully but had to stay ages for observations). Got McD drive thru on the way home at 8pm which I felt guilty about too and then reversed into a post when leaving the car park... Confused Then DS had a nasty chesty cough all night and is full of a cold now, he can't seem to catch a break bless him.

Currently letting him have a danger nap bc I need it myself!!

Hope everyone is good!! Praying for a better week next week!

Cagliostro · 20/10/2018 16:52

Oh blimey dani that’s quite a time you’re having 😭

I am sick of my older two today and all but shoved them into the garden with a football as they were leaning on me lots, being super stimmy and loud and bouncy and just incredibly fucking irritating. Unexpected up side though, they appear to be chatting to the neighbour kid who is looking out of his window, so yay. I am mooching on the sofa offering occasional oohs and aahs at DD’s gymnastics out the window.

I never had breakfast or lunch today, have just been snacking. Bad. I don’t normally do that. I think we have a lasagne that DH got in a meal deal thing but I’m not sure how big it is 🙄

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 20/10/2018 17:01

Yes Zoo baking and twerking is some combination Grin

Hugs are good Bower 🍭

Hey I've!

Love hearing about the antics of your ds Foxes and Cagletini Cag! They both sound such characters!

Managed to combine work and pleasure by decluttering one drawer of art cupboard (started at least a month ago! Blush) whilst watching champions day at Ascot (finale of flat season) fab horses. Oh and I've washed all the towels in the house and they're drying now. Bit of a go slow this afternoon though as sinus headache seems to have spread from eye to half my face; ear, teeth and forehead hurt! Hurts to bend down! Dd's quite tired too so we're going to watch Harry Potter and Strictly. Baked spuds in oven.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 20/10/2018 17:06

Xposts!

Oh no Dani poor you (and your poor ds) it never rains but it pours! Hope you have a better day tomorrow!

Cag good to hear the Caglets are getting to know the new neighbours!

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/10/2018 17:07

bower toes only,my hands are too busy for polish there as it chips and who wants to eat flakes my nail varnishConfused

Dani hopefully this week will be better!

Cag great they chatting neighbours kids

Id laugh at myself twerking around the kitchen!!

Cagliostro · 20/10/2018 17:36

Baby bit me again 😡😡😡 now trying to get her to sleep and am very hungry indeed. Send cake! 💐

Cagliostro · 20/10/2018 17:49

And the lasagne is both small (even when eked out with garlic bread and veg) and takes 45 min. Fucksake. Has to be used today as well. I am now very grumpy indeed

Cagliostro · 20/10/2018 18:35

And I did it wrong, took the lid thing off when I should’ve pierced it, and didn’t even set the timer so no idea how long it’s been in there.

I know this sounds stupid but I just want to cry 😰 it was supposed to be easy and I keep messing even this shit up! Currently sitting on the stairs just to be alone for a bit

HillsBesideTheSea · 20/10/2018 18:46

ta da
Finish cleaning above bed bookshelf
2 loads of bedding
disassemble bed
clean the under bed storage space [boak]Envy
take the emergency dosage of allergy meds
reassemble bed
put sheet back on ds' bed (new sheet - brush cotton thanks asda £7 )
make pizza for tea

just waiting for tea to finish cooking and dryer to finish drying so can remake bed. I am in a very bad mood, my back hurts and I still have a crap ton of stuff that needs doing.

HillsBesideTheSea · 20/10/2018 19:10

Cag I find these so called easy ready meals actually a nightmare. They are the sort of things that I am most likely to set fire to. You are tired, the baby is ill, life will feel so much worse automatically - even if the day is going ok it won't feel like it. Hang in there. It will be ok. You are doing ok. Promise.

Cagliostro · 20/10/2018 19:15

Ah I may cry hills thank you 💐 I shoved the also too small garlic bread in as well and the kids are sharing it. I’d assumed it was one of those family meal deals from what DH has said earlier, but it was a couple one. If I’d checked I’d have realised but hey ho. The veg we got the other day had also been short dated and wasn’t usable so not a healthy dinner for anyone.

On the plus side I ordered myself a curry which the Caglets wouldn’t eat anyway (I will share this with the baby also, she likes paneer!) and discovered I have over £100 payable on topcashback. So that’s cheered me up somewhat.

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 20/10/2018 20:39

Cag if it makes you feel any better I can't cook fish fingers for toffee!

Great list Hills!

Hang in there both! Flowers Cake Brew

Stilllivinginazoo · 20/10/2018 21:15

cag I don't do well with ready meals either-melting lids should've took off or taken off when not ment to and whole thing goes dry.i find cooking from scratch much less stressful!!
At least you have a nice dinner and all fed no one dead

DS didn't manage his outing, returned home hysterical and devestated

I should have guessed it was going to be too much, but was planned before he hot so unwell.hes now convinced "ruined everything"....

A long night of reassuring ahead
I've no chocolate

Slitheringcorpsefeed · 20/10/2018 21:34

Oh what a shame Zoo, it sounded right up his street. That's v tough for you both but good that he tried.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 20/10/2018 22:22

Hi all, had a really lovely day with DH and the girls had a great day with my parents! House is a bit of a mess but that is fair enough. Laundry and dishes are sort of under control so I am ignoring it all and have gone to bed. Will have to tidy up tomorrow after my parents leave.

Luckily only one argument so far today (fault on both my dad’s and my side) but have gone to bed with us both sort of apologising and not on bad terms I hope. Other than that they have done a great job with DDs today.

which is good going for time with my parents. Hope not all stored up for tomorrow. Not looking forward to tomorrow as we are going into the city centre, I have to drive in which I hate doing and then there will be over excited shopping to contend with. Best get some sleep to prepare!

dani, what a horrible week you’ve had. Fingers crossed as you say for an improved week next week.

zoo and SC thanks so much for the good thoughts. Sorry to hear things still so stressful for your DS zoo.

Nice to hear from you brielfy Ive

Big wing flaps to all, I’m off to sleep soon.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/10/2018 02:36

Glad that weekend is going well so far Toostressy! Hope it continues and good luck with driving (I feel exactly the same about driving in town).

Hope today pans out better than anticipated Zoo although it can't be easy trying to balance out everyone's individual needs. Agree with Cag though that dp could/should be helping instead of hindering. Hope you managed to get back to sleep!

I don't know whether or not to mention this to those of you with los undergoing sleepless nights who are hoping for respite in a few years, but I had a gangly 15 yr old in my bed last night (combo of missing her father and period cramps ). I debunked to sofa at 3am (sinus headache thing still making it's presence known) and have been trying to get back to sleep ever since! Amazing variety of R4 podcasts available in these circs I must admit! May as well give up and get up now as DD and I are off in an hour for riding tuition.

Have as restful Sunday as humanly possible everyone! Mahoosive wing flaps to all!

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 21/10/2018 08:06

Morning all

We are not on half term here until next week.

I am thinking of quitting my new job. The more time i spend there the more i see these are not my people and they do not share my beliefs on how this type of business should be run. They do not have the service users best interests at heart and this is against everything i know. They are also very resistent to change in any form let alone things as big as this.

Sorry to hear some of you are struggling Flowers

I am two weeks into my university course and have only managed to do the reading so far.

Yesterday did about 6 loads of washing, got both living rooms and kitchen fairly tidy too.

House has gone to shit since started job.

foxessocks · 21/10/2018 08:07

sc actually it's nice to know they still need you when they're older Smile I'm feeling very strange about ds starting nursery after Christmas, it's coming round too quickly!

Things are a bit tense in my house this morning, none of us were really getting on yesterday I think combination of tiredness, all having colds, dh trying to fit work and study in. Hopefully we can try and have a nice day. Meant to be going to the pub for lunch later which is good because nobody will want to cook but bad because I don't actually want to get up and dressed!

foxessocks · 21/10/2018 08:09

ive that's a shame about the job I can understand why you'd want to leave. It's nice to hear how you're getting on though! You must be incredibly busy.

IVEgotthePUMPKINS · 21/10/2018 08:15

I have been offered a position, well more than one tbh at my old workplace. I am actually considering it as although i got fed up there it was for completely different reasons. This new place is broken, i thought i could fix it but i cant change the powers that be.

Eldest dc is going away on school residential trip next month Shock only 3 days but scary!

Foxes i wish i was going for a nice pub lunch! Really fancy a roast but cba.

Bowerbird5 · 21/10/2018 08:16

Oh zoo what a shame for DS, the girls and you. Could you encourage him to spend an hour on something today while you give them some attention? Typical behaviour of a DP out of there depth. Mums can’t do that ( well occasionally when it does get too much) and we soldier on looking for a solution.

Sleepless nights seem to be a theme running through our thread just now. I couldn’t sleep and was awake until 2:30am. I had a shout nap, dozed off about 5:45pm as I was waiting for HP to come on. I missed the start so ended up doing plus 1am doing jigsaw and watching trash later. Should have just gone to bed but had trouble dropping off. Let’s hope we all get a better nights sleep tonight.
Need to finish off a couple jobs from yesterday. If I was in a detached house I would have re vacuumed at 2am as cat had trekked litter all around kitchen. I swept it.
