OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

I am very glad we don’t have Japanese today as friends are on a trip. Will start properly after half term.

I am thus still in bed. Not a good night, went to bed properly but still couldn’t sleep.

One more week of home ed stuff, have some social stuff planned as well which I CBA with really but need to keep the Caglets happy.

Should come up with a list of home ed aims for the week - stuff that I want to get done by half term like finish book chapters etc. Maybe I should do that every week really.

Also supposed to be having the Big Planning Discussion with DH Hmm

So much general housework to do as well

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/10/2018 09:23

Ta da:-
Bought a card
Dishwasher on
Laundry in machine to go on later

To do:-
Opticians
Quick food shop
Gym
Get stuff ready for gymnastics
Declutter - must do at least 15 mins
Go through calendar as didn’t do that last night
I’m working extra tomorrow so need to get stuff sorted for that too.

Catch you all later.

SassitudeandSparkle · 15/10/2018 10:01

Morning all. Persisting rain here so need to control the amount of laundry I wash to make sure it all has room to dry. No leaving a pile damp in the basket due to lack of space. Bin collection day today and I rammed it, even ran around last minute and threw out two old cleaning products so now feel like a decluttering rockstar GrinHmm

The cupboard under the kitchen sink is well stuffed, and I have been meaning to empty it out for a while and dump excess cleaning products. Even a brief scuffle this morning has shown that a lot of the excess product is - scented candles. If I rehome those, I'll have bags of space. Of course, if feeling truly reckless, I could actually burn them as well Shock

Hope your son's day goes well zoo. DD is tired and still a bit poorly, but we are on countdown now to the half-term and a nice break.

To do
laundry
ironing
tidying
all.the.things

Spreadingcudweed · 15/10/2018 11:23

Well done re: decluttering Sass! I really think your dd and mine have had the same thing. DD is back to school but not really recovered ifyswim. This week and next and then it's half term thank heavens.

Ouch Hills doesn't sound good you being wrapped up in bandages. Poor you!

Glad the morning started relatively well Zoo

Encouraging wing flaps to Cag and everyone else.

Royally pissed off with dh here. I am angry cleaning Grin

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 11:47

Can’t you angry-make-DH-clean instead? :o

I am in a mood here because holy crap doing grammar with the Caglets is just the most frustrating thing 😡😡😡 not their fault, they find it really tricky due to ASD (taking things literally and having difficulty understanding the nuances of language) but HOLY CRAP SOMEBODY SHOOT ME

I have also put a wash on, put the baby’s new clothes away, got DS to put stuff back on shelves etc

danigrace · 15/10/2018 12:23

Well DS was sick a couple of times in the night and loads loads more this morning. I've been sick once and am currently lay with DS who is asleep for now with an antisickness tablet under my gum, last time I had a sickness bug bc of complications with my other health issues I ended up going off in an ambulance... Determined to not let that happen this time!!!

Sick sheets in the washer. Got a loads of sick clothes and towels in the queue.

SassitudeandSparkle · 15/10/2018 13:28

Oh dani, hope you are doing OK. So hard to look after poorly little ones at the best of times, but when you are feeling rotten yourself it is awful.

Have done some laundry, and burnt a tealight candle all morning. It does smell nice to be fair (I think it's cappuccino truffle or similar).

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 13:32

Oh no :( stay rested and hydrated, fingers crossed

I am in one hell of a mood now, spent ages getting a very grumpy overtired baby to sleep, finally managed to extricate myself to sort lunch as was feeling shaky by then, and DH’s toast went a bit over and set the fire alarm off and woke the baby 😡😭

I am hiding in the kitchen having just scarfed down my reheated lentil stew (ridiculously healthy but nobody else in the house eats it... although will give some to the baby along with one of DH’s boiled eggs)

Aaaargh

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 15/10/2018 13:46

Oh no dani SadFlowers.

Hope angry cleaning is productive SC.

Ta da:-
Opticians appointment. Took longer than I had hoped but important to get it done as I have very dry eyes and need regular checks so that’s fair enough. Have to go back Friday to sort paperwork out but the main bit is done.

Went to the gym. Didn’t want to but very glad I went.
Couple of other bits
Did some prep for work tomorrow

To do:-
Shower
Put washer over stuff ready for gymnastics
Declutter
Phone my mum.

Must get on!

Spreadingcudweed · 15/10/2018 14:15

Good luck ploughing through your busy day Toostressy!

Oh no Dani hope you and your ds are ok and that you can stave off the lurgy. Take care x

Your scented candles sounds very domestic goddessy Sass (in a good way Smile). The aromas wafting through my house currently are a vague hint of daschund combined with a soupcon of blocked gutter and a trace of muddy jodhpur Blush Grin

Hats off to you wrestling with grammar Cag I don't know how you do it! I try and help/engage with dd on this subject but she is so much further ahead than me with foreign langs (they drill them half to death here until it's firmly embedded) and all the terms in English have totally changed since my day but it's useful for my job to learn the modern vernacular!

(Wry Smile at the thought of dh doing the angry cleaning - can never tie him down for long enough!! - but at least he took me out for quick dim sum lunch just now so am in happier frame of mind. Or I would be if I didn't keep tuning in to latest news of Brexit negotiations and the second back-stop to the original back-stop arrgh and arrghhh.)

Keep going everyone!!

OP posts:
Spreadingcudweed · 15/10/2018 14:17

That should have read "keep going everyone except Dani who needs to rest" of course.

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 15:46

It’s really simple English grammar as well sc I’m just gutted for them that they find it so hard. We then moved on to the RE book which is currently covering metaphor (in prayers and such) and that wasn’t too easy with DS either, but thankfully they managed to think of their own thanks to their love of watching Catchphrase 😳

I escaped again to the shower with some loud music. Haven’t decided now whether to go with them to TKD (with the aim of sitting in the cafe with DH and discussing Important Plans... but knowing she may not sleep) and get fresh air (and cake, but not amazing cake) or stay home on my own... just me and baby... again

I am really struggling today 😡😳😰 🎻

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 16:02

Decision made for me as I was faffing so much that they had to go. I could follow but not sure it’s worth it as she may not sleep anyway (in which case I will just be eating not-amazing cake while DH plays with the baby)

Aaaargh
Sorry for self indulgent nature of my recent posts, I think I am really feeling the tedium of baby care ATM 😖 as completely scrumptious as she is, it has been a huge adjustment to go back to this phase again. I wonder if it is also worse this time round as the getting mobile and destroying everything phase is happening in the autumn rather than summer as it was with the other two. So not so easy to wear her out outside etc.

foxessocks · 15/10/2018 16:20

cag I sympathise - it's a lovely age but also an exhausting age!!

I've been working today, my first day in a new role. I really enjoyed it actually.

Ta da
Hoovered downstairs
Mopped
Dusted
Stripped dd bed
Washing on
Dishwasher on
Emptied bins
Changed towels etc
Prepped potatoes for dinner

To do
Put clean sheets on dd bed
Change ds sheets
Finish dinner - bbq chicken with mini jacket potatoes, sweet potato and green veg

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 16:30

Thanks foxes 💐 it’s just really grinding me down atm.
I think part of it is that when she was tiny (and before she was born) DH would be taking the Caglets out regularly for me to “have a break”. Because of course when she was tiny she would just feed and sleep and snuggle so it was a rest! But now when they all go, it’s harder for me because she is relentless and it’s hard to even get time to pee without her wrecking the place (or screaming if I have the playpen out - I really need to persevere with that though as while it remains folded in the corner it is just a £60 ornament ATM) and so it’s easier when at least one other person is here too. But then the Caglets have their own high needs too... argh

Anyway it is too late to follow the others really as she needed feeding and is still only in a nappy 😳 but I think we might go to Asda and I can try and pick up the remaining necessary clothes there, rather than ordering them online. Also I can get cake. Woo.

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 16:30

Glad you enjoyed new job role BTW!

Spreadingcudweed · 15/10/2018 17:39

Cor bimey no need to apologise Cag! Not self indulgent at all! I'm full of admiration the way you've coped and are coping. This is going to sound awful, and perhaps it's a teen thing (and to be fair it's also definitely a business intruding in to personal life continually thing) but if I didn't have some time alone during week days when dd's at school, to just think and be and even occasionally do Wink, I think I would be barking by now. And that's just with one child! How you manage with three and the home edding is amazing! Home edding out of the question here because of lang thing (DD needs to have native level skills as our life is here) but if it weren't, I'd be too selfish to do it I think so a hatric of hats off to you!

Foxes that's great about new role!

Ta da:
dining room table hot spots (big job! Blush)
more thorough s & s than usual
tidied bags/boots/bed linen clutter from hall
washing X 2 and dried
spoke to lovely cousin
made minestrone soup
quick supermarket flit
bought present on-line
cleaned and polished DD jodhpur boots, one saddle and one bridle (brought back with us to clean 'cos had to be back early yesterday)
prepped big salad to go with cold cuts tonight
washed spare sofa covers and hung up to dry in sunshine
towel wash in

Still MUST do spare boudoir bed!

Spreadingcudweed · 15/10/2018 19:03

Bloods takenat hospital(mine) over an hour wait.why are some people so rude if have to wait?there's a double system 1 numbers and 2 numbers.start with a two are chemo and super urgent bloods which get priority and there are a lot of people out there who think that's unfair.staff were apologizing about long wait today and when I chatted whilstine were taken staff shortage due to illness was cause.i said it's dry in here and warm and free.whats to complain about?!
Trip car dealership with dp(trailing D's)
School run
Trip garden centre that has little shops in it as lil zoo friend bday Fri,dd2 tomorrow
Drop zoolets at house then pick up milk, bread etc
Lil zoo having quick tea of sandwiches veg sticks, fruit, crisp, yogurt and cake!!(D's not hungry, she's starving)

Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 19:57

Oh zoo I bloody hate it when people complain about stuff like that. 😡 We used to have one of those walk in centres that was open 7 days a week, people would complain about really quite short waits, I would sit there thinking don’t they know how lucky we are to have this service at all? Most towns don’t!

I feel slightly better mentally now having dragged myself out, Cagletini started dozing off so I shoved her in the buggy and dragged my sorry arse to Asda. Managed to get some of the clothes we still needed including some tiny wellies for the baby 😍 then met the others on their way home from TKD. Knackered and achy now though.

Spreadingcudweed · 15/10/2018 20:44

Yay that day one went well for your ds Zoo!

Glad some retail therapy did the trick Cag! Aw at tiny wellies!

Crikey, we often have to wait a long time for med appts here and it's not free! Wouldn't dream of complaining in either instance. Most docs doing their absolute best!

DD had a bad day at school and boy do DH and I know about it tonight. Tin helmet time or what. Confused

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 15/10/2018 23:10

Oh no sc

And thank you BTW x

✅put a wash on
✅order Tesco
✅update diary
✅buy some clothes online and in Asda
✅switched over to new size clothes for baby
✅decluttered 9-12m, chucked stained stuff and divided up the rest for two recipients

ta didn’t
❌the talk. Obviously.🙄I mean, we chatted a bit but by the time everyone was showered and in bed and we’d done the shopping etc we just wanted to go to bed so I’m off now.

Root canal first thing tomorrow. Fucksticks.

Bowerbird5 · 15/10/2018 23:32

Hi,

Well I am here tucked up cozily in bed. I am tired and should flake after writing this. Starting to feel sleepy now. So I went back to work today. Everything has changed. We have to go in earlier, my timetable has changed, my play time rota change and I didn’t know so I never went out. I have to move / get rid of my stuff by Wednesday and I didn’t get finished until after 5pm. There was a nasty accident on the way home( no way that guy will be driving his mini again) and I called in on quiz friend as I was picking her up later. Fed cat, fed self, DH phoned then it was time to go. I have left chicken out so I hope she found somewhere safe to sleep because I couldn’t find the torch or head lamp and couldn’t find her. The stars were absolutely amazing tonight.
So I have nothing today. I emptied the washing machine to find the toy I had washed had emptied most of the head of the polar bear into the new washing machine. Sometimes we just make work for ourselves don’t we! I picked friend up and not a full team but we came second the thirds were 7 points behind us😀I won the wine and it was a red Italian mmm yum. I took friend home looked for chicken unsuccessfully and went to bed with a mug of tea.
I am going to be doing the bathroom one bit at a time this week.
Right I m off to sleep.
Sorry if you have had a bad day tomorrow might be better.
