OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Morning all. Today me and dh have a child-free dayShock as they are off out with the grandparents. But can we decide what to do? Of course not!! Suggestions so far - Christmas shopping (not feeling Christmassy enough) , pub lunch (too expensive), tool shop (bit boring but necessary!).

What we are likely to do - clean the oven, do some work (me), do some studying (dh) Hmm Grin we are so boring!

How is everyone's weekend going now? How did the bathroom go zoo? Or did you run away?! Grin

Bowerbird5 · 14/10/2018 09:02

Morning all,
I don’t usually do much on Sundays but I have to finish that room today. Now wishing I had done it yesterday.
Slept really well. Taking tablets earlier seems to be working.

I spent along time on a list for Lakeland yesterday afternoon. We need new pans for this stove so looked and read about their pans and baking stuff. I started on food cupboardyesterday and found almonds and sultanas and raisins well out of date. They look fine though would you eat them or bin?

To do
Finishdining room would like to run away from it zoo.
Unload dishwasher.
Make bed.
Clean basin, toilet and shower.
Lay clothes out for tomorrow as I am going back to work. Ma

Spreadingcudweed · 14/10/2018 09:04

Noooo Foxes!!! You must profit from your child free day!!! Don not stay in and do chores! Go for a drive, walk in a forest, take a picnic! [By solemn order of thread leader with Cake Smile .]

OP posts:
TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 14/10/2018 09:10

I agree with SC, go and do something and make the most of it foxes. Can totally relate to feeling the pressure to use the time well though.

Sleepover night was ok. I am just waiting a couple of hours now for sleepover child to go home. Flying has been minimal.

Spreadingcudweed · 14/10/2018 09:12

Depends if its "use by" or "best before" Bower? If latter, I tend to use my judgement based on appearance, dryness, smell etc. Dried fruit usually ok a couple of months over especially if soaking and baking but wouldn't use them any older than that. And avoid anything with too much of a bloom! Old nuts tend to taste a bit stale I find.

Well done for surviving Toostressy! Brew

Waves to Zoo and everyone else.

Its still glorious weather here so going to close the screen and go off and wield the secateurs!

hills I hear you! How's it all going now?

Sc toostressy well we did go to the tool shop BUT then we went to m&s and bought posh food for a posh home made roast which dh is currently making (and we bought a lemon meringue pie and a nice bottle of red!). I did do some work and dh has been studying too but now I've finished and am having a glass of wine while I wait for dh to finish the lunch. So best of both worlds I think! I don't intend to do much this afternoon just laze around really. I do need to clean the bathroom at some point.

Ta da
Tidied up
Dishwasher on

Washing put away
Tool shop

To do
Clean the bathroom
Persuade dh to clean the oven!!
Do a last few things in preparation for new role at work tomorrow - technical things that I need dh to help a bit with so good time to do it with no dc around (although the Wine may hinder things!)

danigrace · 14/10/2018 20:29

Well done Zoo, I hope he settles okay.

Hope everyone manages a somewhat restful evening.

DS was up half the night struggling with teeth, I'm very sore and very exhausted, already in bed and plan to be asleep very soon!!

Ta da:

  • Morning routine (me & ds cleaned, ready, fed; swish and swipe, post breakfast kitchen clean, laundry on)
  • Tidy round upstairs and downstairs
  • put up some Halloween decorations
  • weed in a measuring jug all day and for next 2 days for hospital Hmm
  • sort card and present and go to 1st birthday party
  • in aid of renewing spirit: made lovely hot cocoa with coconut milk, watched stranger things with dh whilst baby napped, ordered healthy pizza for dinner (gf base, veggie loaded, no cheese, still yummy...) (can't have the "real" thing so am used to enjoying the alternative)

Wishing good nights to all

Bowerbird5 · 14/10/2018 21:31

Walnuts look and taste different as they change but almonds look ok I haven’t tasted them but better safe than sorry. I’m going to throw them out and kick myself up the bum for not using them!

Haven’t finished the dining room but have done everything else and cooked a small roast dinner between church and choir. I washed up when I came in at 6 pm. I haven’t had anything tonight as not hungry but might finish off the apple crumble now with a cup of tea. Bed by ten and lay out clothes for morning. Have found a home for jigsaws my friend at church will take them next week. She volunteers at the Hospice and says they are grateful for them for patients and visitors. I have four done and i’m on another one.

Spreadingcudweed · 14/10/2018 21:47

Great lists everyone!

Glorious weather today (25 degrees) in country. Dhorse fab! Had to come back early to vote (very grateful for opportunity to vote though don't get me wrong). Cleaned wreck2 before we left: bathroom, kitchen, lavs, bedrooms, changed sheets and tried it new steam mop thing. Went to mass on return and in the hour and a bit I was away, dh and DD destroyed kitchen wreck1and tv room (and I mean destroyed) and made no attempt to unpack bags or put away stuff dumped in hall. Sigh. Dh then informed me he's going to be away all next weekend in US and doesn't know if he'll back in time for following. Double sigh. Weekend was good though!

Hope everyone ok! Still got to do 30 mins chotes to get things in shape for tomorrow so catch up with personals tomorrow! G'night all!

Ug. Tired and achy. Even had a nap earlier but didn’t feel much better for it.

ta da
✅found DS’ transformer that he lost in the food court
✅braved soft play with the baby
✅finally got bus pass holder, card/cash wallet and coin purse in paperchase sale - tenner well spent as I always bung all those things loose in the “buggy tidy” (which is not remotely tidy) so hoping this will help
✅bought a few more clothes for the Caglets
✅gathered some rubbish
✅comforted anxious DS

Feel utterly drained TBH

Spreadingcudweed · 15/10/2018 05:27

Danigrace hope your ds had a better night with his teeth and you got some shut eye too!

Glad you were able to do productive stuff and nice stuff too Foxes!

Cag well done for getting organised with purse etc

Are you back to work this week Bower? Best of luck if so! And Star re decluttering/tidying.

Does your ds start with his new school regime today Zoo? I hope it goes ok for him and he finds things a bit easier.

Bramble vinegar sounds fab Hills and I feel your pain wrt people promising to do things and then not doing them; although they don't offer much either!

Lauren I have it easier than you and your ma because dhorse lives out 24/7 with his herd supervised by local farmer (also experienced horse man) during the week
