OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Thanks sc yes it does seem quite random sometimes although I’m wondering if it was hormonal this time. As it did coincide with what I’m assuming was ovulation (the pain was much worse than normal but would still be about the right time). The anxiety attack was so utterly draining, it’s like my body was working twice as hard with the racing heart and tense muscles etc, so today I am completely drained and thus depressed. I am still not sleeping, just took painkillers and am wondering about finding a mood tracking app or something, to help me understand what’s going on. I think I’m pretty run down too, got my first mouth ulcer for ages.

Spreadingcudweed · 13/10/2018 01:35

YY think mouth ulcers can be a sign you are run down and I guess mood tracker would rule in or out some sort of hormonal (or other) cause. Long term breast feeding can take it out of you too I guess?
. Going to crash now cos realised my lie-in tomorrow is only until 7.30 am (horsey stuff) and it's 2.30 am here now! Argh! Head still a bit buzzy from today though (and was out and about in loads of bright sunshine which doesn't help the snores!).

Hope you manage to get some sleep tonight : ironing or the archers usually has pretty strong narcoleptic effect on me after 30 seconds or so Wink ! Xx

Yes definitely with the BFing, I wouldn’t change it and I know it’s not forever so I just want to understand it even if it’s not treatable. I have wondered if it’s actually due to her feeding less that the hormones have changed (would also fit with the periods etc) sorry if tmi!

If there was something I could take just when the anxiety really flares up then I would as I don’t think ADs would be right for me at the mo. But surely that kind of thing would be diazepam type stuff and I think those carry a high addiction risk.

Anyway I did most of a logic puzzle and now my eyelids are finally drooping so I’m going to try and sleep. DH said he will take baby with him to ballroom so I can get some proper rest I hope. Night 💐

Cagliostro · 13/10/2018 01:43

This is weird I keep losing posts.

Going to the library tomorrow hopefully to scope out some potential contacts for home ed stuff. Just writing that so I don’t forget.

Must sleep before I get all wakeful again. Night x

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/10/2018 05:23

caghope you finally dropped off.bf can and does mess hormones about.we produce slightly lower estrogen levels.natures way of trying to lower chance conceiving whilst caring young babies!!this in turn can change periods when they return!have you tried Bach flowers rescue remedy?DS on it,we find his mind knows he's anxious but body symptoms aren't there...I've heard others say really takes the edge off anxiety.will see if still have box/instruction leaflet when I get up to see if can take when bf
Bloody wind woke me up!someone's gates banging and I can hear a wheelie bin sliding around crashing into stuff.joys living on a hilly bitwhen it's windy,it's very windy!!

SC doc suggested a mood bullet journal so he can track how he fees.at present we are doing headspace meditation app and trying to work on grounding as once fight or flight in action logic and reasoning aren't there(he's rarely not in fight or flight at moSad)sniffing a comforting smell(rosemary is his goto) and stroking a particular soft toy bring him down a touch, but not enough to relocate logicit helps to hear I'm not the only one so thank you for sharingFlowers
Hope you got some sleep!!

foxessocks · 13/10/2018 07:27

cag breastfeeding definitely messed with my hormones, have you cut down recently as sometimes a change like can make you feel very low? I'm also looking into the idea of a mood diary!

Sc thank you that's kind of you to say, and to know that I'm not alone feeling like this (and that goes for everyone on this thread making me feel like that) it is reassuring that you felt similar when your dd was small. Small dc definitely take it out of you. I do eat healthily for the most part but have had more chocolate than usual this week!

Anyway, I've woken up feeling quite a bit better despite a very bad nights sleep as ds very snotty and woke up a lot in the night and ended up in our bed kicking us! No doubt I'll feel exhausted later. Going to do some work and we see some friends for lunch.

Happy weekend to you all! And hope you head ok this morning sc if a lot of Wine consumed Grin

running later, very later. bollocking hell.

Will you all just hope there are no trees down on the roads I need in 5 mins. Ta!

laurenamium · 13/10/2018 09:19

I'm loving all of the mindfulness ideas. I had PND really bad when I had DS and I went to CBT, I would recommend that to anyone who can access it, low mood or not it's great!

Be kind to yourself, lower your expectations and do what you need to to get through the day.

sc they're still out at the minute but will be in from November on a night from winter. DM helps sometimes so that takes the pressure off! I would love a horse that was sensible and didn't throw himself about at pheasants so to that I am jealous!

We have had a lie in here, not much to do in the house.

To do:
Homework with DD
Ride
Poo pick field
Muck stables out from yesterday
Walk dog
Clean out the car

I've got friends round later for birthday drinks, DC are sleeping at grandmas, they're going to see their dad for a couple of hours this afternoon and I'll use this time to ride. Have a lovely Saturday!

Cagliostro · 13/10/2018 10:25

Morning all. Could’ve sworn I posted already this morning 🤔

Anyway. Not a great night but Cagletini did sleep 6 hours straight. The others have all gone out, I’m trying to be a little productive while also chilling. Have put a wash on, changed the ink cartridge and now about to print some stuff as I kept forgetting, then I’ll have a shower. Might play piano a tiny bit but I’m still nervous due to not knowing neighbours yet. I basically haven’t played at all since we moved. Even though really I’ve not been able to hear the telly or kids playing or anything on either side so logically it should be fine. I’ll see how long I have anyway as I might get a bit of shopping done by myself before meeting the others.

Yes definitely cutting down the BF as her feeds are really quick and not so snuggly anymore 😭 I actually wonder if she’s not eating enough food and that’s why she’s not sleeping, I am not very organised and she often doesn’t get 3 meals so now that she’s turning 1 it’s more important. That’s definitely one of the things for the “planning meeting” with DH.

Right must actually do the printing!

Bowerbird5 · 13/10/2018 10:29

Morning all.
Goodness Lauren no wonder you get behind with the house with all that to do with the horses. Don’t suppose you’re up north are you. I would come and hep I miss horses. There is a livery nearby and there are people always riding past. Big grey went past this morning, not great for riding though as it is raining.
Cags might be worth taking a supplement to boast you like Floridix
Definitely a change when the breast feeding lessens and will all be tied in. Might be worth getting your iron level checked too. Dried apricots have lots of iron and are easy to carry around and nibble.
zoo stand still for a minute and I will pick the twigs and leaves out of your hair. Hope you get there on time.
Do you know the simple finger one. Thumb to each finger back and forth a few times. I use that at the dentist. You concentrate on the exercise and it helps to lessen anxiety. Toe to top thinking about body parts and breathing should be done a couple of times of day regardless of feelings.

Still now but very breezy last night. Raining this morning. Large branch off a tree on village green which I might try and retrieve later. Free wood. Been out to feed 🐔when a whole tree full of sparrows flew up. There was a young bird of prey in the tree. Think it was a falcon but it flew over to the wall so hard to identify. I wasn’t sure if it was hunting or hurt. Anyway as I collected eggs (for breakfast) I realised it might have been after Ziggy. So she is shut in now. She will be cross but safe.

To Do.
Clean dining room. Vacuum and look for damp patch it smells of cat in there so I am wondering if she has weed somewhere. She doesn’t usually but maybe door was accidently closed.
Clean bathroom.
Make apple crumble.
15 minutes in greenhouse. Tomatoes are falling off now so may pick remaining ones.
Nip out for some shopping bread etc. If I can be bothered. I might leave it until tomorrow as I will be in town anyway for church.

Spreadingcudweed · 13/10/2018 10:30

Hey all! (Head not too bad thanks Foxes!! Grin) but sorry for wine induced essay writing last night Grin) Glad you feel a bit better this morning!

Lauren is it your bday today? Many happy rtns if so! Cake
Have taken DD to X country tutoring this morning (she's not totally back to full health yet so she had slightly shorter lesson but went well).

Kitchen in a bad state on return! Tackling now!

Sass hope you have a lovely anniversary w/e now your DH is back!

Glorious sunshine again! Hope everyone has good Sat!

CAG maybe beta blockers (I take for heart rhythm issue but they are also calming) but no idea about their effects on bf!! Worth asking doc maybe? Hope you slept eventually!

Bowerbird5 · 13/10/2018 11:21

Not sure if it was but I couldn’t take the risk that it would be back and have a go. She has a enclosed run so not just in coop.

Spreadingcudweed · 13/10/2018 11:28

Aye better safe than sorry Bower

Have picked up scattered cups and plates and collected rubbish. Put 1 load washing on (table cloths)
DW on
Washed up some baking trays by hand

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/10/2018 13:49

Walking at local reservoir after.car says 24oc out😱

HillsBesideTheSea · 13/10/2018 16:28

It's definitely NOT 24C here. Blustery, blowy, and some trees down but roads pretty much passable. Earlier activities were fab. Now I should do chores but I am tired and I don't want to. So I think i might have an hour sat with a hot water bottle as my back is playing up. Hmm

Cagliostro · 13/10/2018 18:29

Home. Knackered. Lots of clothes bought 💸💸💸

Beta blockers a good shout. Basically I don’t want to go back on ADs at the mo, having realised anxiety is the far bigger problem than depression (TBH it is more that I am exhausted and low because anxiety is so draining). But it’s such a variable thing and ADs just seem to make me flat and even less productive on the whole. Something to think about anyway and I’ll talk about it when I see the GP.

I shuddered at the memory of Floradix, mum used to force feed me it! 🤢 I do take Ferroglobin though which is a tummy-friendly iron supplement with B vitamins. Also take a high dose vitamin D (I wasn’t consistent enough with it though so making a real effort to finish the course now, I probably should’ve finished it a couple of months ago) and I just started taking magnesium which I have heard many women are deficient in (and especially teens so I plan to get DD to take it when she is old enough).

Stilllivinginazoo · 13/10/2018 19:47

Be mindful magnesium, erm, loosens bowels cag also beta blockers can cause dizzy spells esp when get up-was given them in my teens for anxiety and they made me feel awfully dizzy when I sat up or moved!!

Been to reservoir for a walk in woods around the water, fed ducks/geese and picked up dd2 on way home.had great time with friends which is both rare and wonderful to see her so happy!
Little ones fed n wayered(pasta, pesto and veg)
Still need fix something for me DP and dd2.thinking rosemary n red onion veggi sausages with something...
Watching Harry potter at mo!

Hope everyone's having a good weekend!

Cagliostro · 13/10/2018 20:04

Ooh thanks for the warning zoo 😱😷

Feeling rather incapable of anything this evening which isn’t surprising after traipsing round town for ages, so I’m glad I got a few bits done earlier but you can’t tell at all 😭

Bowerbird5 · 13/10/2018 23:34

Haven’t got all the dining room done😧 I got fed up with it when I found a box of RC. More school stuff and I couldn’t be bothered. I got up on the table and vacuum the cobwebs off the fabric and the window ledge. Wiped down afterwards and the sill. Wiped everything on it. I sorted some of the stuff on the table and some other books.i will try and get it completed tomorrow. I vacuumed the floor and the kitchen. I started another puzzle. I’m falling asleep here so will say goodnight.
