OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

Morning! I tried to post about three times yesterday, but it wouldn't let me!

Anyway, what I had wanted to say was...big 'ta daa' as the plastering is done! Here we are looking smug!

DP has been laid low by another illness (he has some immune system problems, so gets bloody everything!) but has dragged his bum to work today. Bless him, he still took me out for dinner yesterday despite the walk home nearly killing him. I'm going to frog march him to the GP to get his flu vaccine...I'm not having him catch the flu while I'm super pregnant!

Today's list...

Quickie hoover
Tutoring
Food shopping
Laundry
Tidy and hoover hall stairs and landing (getting the hoover upstairs is getting harder!)
Maybe take the DDs to the park after school (homework dependent!)
Dishes
Cat litter

Great pic, love the colour on the wall and your lovely neat bump :)

I’m sooooo nervous 😭😭😭 going to leave in about fifteen. Must feed baby from the other boob first 😂😳 I’m also nervous of leaving her although I have before, I think it’s just because I am going somewhere new myself and am not sure exactly how long I’ll be. I debated taking her with me but I know she won’t nap in the buggy at the right time and it’d be distracting if she’s kicking off. DH is taking her with him when dropping the Caglets off at art class. Missing our new weekly brunch date although I may still be back in time for a quick drink or something. Depending how my teeth feel 😭

Right really must go

Spreadingcudweed · 10/10/2018 08:59

Well done Steggy and Steggy dp!! A very well deserved cup of Brew!

Good morning!

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/10/2018 09:28

ta da
not kill anyone - this is important and tricky atm. Trying times here.
People out the house for their activities, all fed and watered
Wash up pan for cooking down some apples
prep beef stew for slow cooker
Start prepping ingredients for veg soup
take ingredients for chinese for ds out of the freezer
start loading dw
Open the windows

currently sitting and eating breakfast have a metric crap ton of stuff to do today. None of which has been started with the ta da list above. Hmm

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/10/2018 09:29

Almostr forgot i also have bread dough being made by the bread machine.. Will enjoy that for lunch!

Cagliostro · 10/10/2018 09:51

Someone crying in the waiting room is not what I want to see right now 😳 and no it’s not me 😂 I am seriously nervous though. Have filled in my medical forms so just waiting.

Feel really guilty leaving the baby as well as I heard her crying when I shut the door 😭

Bowerbird5 · 10/10/2018 10:11

steggyI had trouble yesterday too. Couldn’t get on in the afternoon at all. Great work. Lovely bump and you look rather like my baby sister only she has gone blonde now which I find weird because she was brunette for thirty five years!

SC we also knew about the chick pea juice as DD has made small meringues and she uses it for other things too. I get told off if I strain them and throw out the liquid.
😁 DD is disappointed that she won’t see the summer house up so I suggest we made a cuppa and sat in it anyway. We sat on the railway sleepers and imagined what it will be like. The roof felt hasn’t arrived but the rest is done and waiting. It is a gorgeous sunny day here and would have been perfect for it to arrive😥

Cags should be over now also been sending you calm vibes. I do some of the mindfulness exercises like the thumb to finger one. It helps.
Sass💖💞💘 hope you have a happy day.

Hills Love your first TaDa. Made me glad I had finished my tea or it might have been sprayed all over me.
I’m in same mode. I was awake in middle of the night for hours if DD hadn’t been here I would have been up vacuuming. I was thinking about it but I suppose that doesn’t count!
zoo hope things go well.

Ta Da
Fed animals
Made tea

To Do
Start on 15 minutes of sorting in dining room.
Vacuum
Wash kitchen floor.
Plant some perennials.
Take DD out somewhere for lunch.
Pack one box of kitchen stuff.
Hang washing out.

We have left over curry for tea. Make a fruit salad as we have loads left from veggie box and new one comes today.

Bowerbird5 · 10/10/2018 10:13

Hope you are ok Cags maybe they are crying for another reason. I did the other day because I was just stressed by other things. She was so nice to me and I just burst into tears.

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/10/2018 10:14

I have been called into work Hmm So much for a productive day HmmHmm

stegosauruslady · 10/10/2018 10:19

hills Excellent work on not murdering anyone...want to send some of that will power over here?

Thank you all for the bump compliments, I lost a fuckton of weight in between baby number 3 and this one (5 stone in all!) so this is the first time I've actually had a nice bump and the compliments mean a lot! Flowers

cag I hope it is all going smoothly by now, I know how you feel, I get horrible anxiety around appointments (of any kind in my case!) Be extra nice to yourself for the rest of the day!

My tutoring kids are all ill (apparently whatever DP had is going around!) so I'm going to sit with my knitting, fire and cats for an hour to make the most of the random free time before I crack on with the housework...I'll do the mist coat on the plaster too I think as I have extra time!

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/10/2018 10:26

Unfortuntately Steggy I have none spare, and what i have is short of what is needed. It is a good job certain people are out of the house until tea time!

Cagliostro · 10/10/2018 10:49

All done! It was actually fine apart from the pain of x rays. I need a root canal, one broken tooth out and one filling. That’s actually way less than I was expecting so quite relieved although terrified about the procedures involved. He was absolutely lovely (and quite cute if I’m honest 😳) didn’t tell me off or anything. So I’m feeling pretty positive. I also need to see a hygienist but as that’s not covered by NHS anyway I’ll wait till the other stuff is done I think.

And BREATHE

SassitudeandSparkle · 10/10/2018 14:13

Well done Cag, glad it wasn't as bad as you were expecting!

Cagliostro · 10/10/2018 14:16

Thanks sass :) I’m feeling really happy that I’ve actually been now. I am terrified about the root canal though as I’ve heard they are really painful, have any of you had one? I’m trying to figure out what to expect, it’s Tuesday morning and I am unsure whether to change plans for the afternoon.

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 10/10/2018 17:04

Well done Steg and Cag!

At work today so no flying achieved yet.

foxessocks · 10/10/2018 17:09

Well done cag , I haven't had a root canal I'm afraid so can't advise but I totally sympathise with the waiting for the appointment and the anticipation, it will be over before you know it.

Ta da
Washing on
All laundry folded and put away (a mammoth task!)
Dishwasher on

Not much else achieved today as we've been rushing here there and everywhere. Dinner is a very quick eggs spaghetti hoops and chips!!

Cagliostro · 10/10/2018 19:48

Aw thanks both. Really proud of myself. Ignoring the fact I should’ve been 18 months ago! Better late than never eh.

Helped DH with dinner today. Proper family meal with pudding. Soft tacos and crumble.

Now feeling quite out of sorts due to ovary pain. Had to take a hot water bottle to bed last night, it was mostly ok today but seems to be worse now, at dinner I tried to pick up something from the floor (thanks Rowan 🙄) but literally couldn’t as it hurt so much.

Meet0nTheIedge · 10/10/2018 21:45

I'm struggling to keep up with the thread again, but well done on getting to the dentist Cag. No advice about root canal as I've been spared those so far but DH has had a few and he said really the worst thing is that they take ages and your jaw aches. I totally sympathise on the autism/food thing, DS has fairly big issues around food and DD is just regular fussy, there is not much overlap in their palates. We tend to do mix and match meals now, so for example Monday, make lasagne for 4 and serve plain pasta for one child, saving a portion of lasagne. Tuesday, make curry for four, save one portion, plain pasta for the other child, then Wednesday and Thursday the leftover lasagne and curry go to the one who doesn't like whatever the rest of us are having. It's easier than it sounds. Also there is this book called getting little blighters to eat might be worth a try.

Bower - love the image of you and DD sitting on the base of the summer house drinking tea in the sunshine.

Steg well done on the weight loss and the plastering - one of those I've failed at and the other I've never tried.

Feeling quite chuffed tonight because a voluntary role I took on and which turned out to be way more hassle than anticipated due to GDPR and I thought I'd never get shot of has been given to a paid member of staff. It will be a lot easier for them as they have full access to relevant databases etc. Also it was a glorious day today and I managed to get a bit done at the allotment after work. Not much proper Flying, but I have cleared most of one BRC (that phrase is in regular use in our house now).

Cagliostro · 10/10/2018 21:49

I’m so glad BRC is catching on, it shall be my legacy.

Might have to try that book. They could be a lot worse but it’s so frustrating.

Still curled up in pain but the baby is in her cot early again.

ta da
✅dentist!!!
✅helped cook dinner
✅poetry with Caglets

Must do some admin stuff tomorrow, various online orders, emails, phone calls etc.

SassitudeandSparkle · 10/10/2018 21:54

Steg a 5 stone loss is awesome - go you!

Not much flying done today (yet again) as DD was home all day. I am hoping she will be feeling OK tomorrow, but it is not certain. She is currently having a bath, I hope the steam will help. Homework has been done, though.

I'm going to crack open one of those mini bottles of Prosecco in a bit and look after DD. Living the dream!

HillsBesideTheSea · 10/10/2018 22:08

A slightly more impressive legacy than warm Jelly Cag GrinBlush

Bollocks to today.

Although less will power to not kill people was needed. Apparently person had got grip until next time and there will be a next time
Otoh my teenager has been a teenager so win some lose some
just waiting for the washing machine to finish so I can put things like school shirts in the dryer before I pass out. Done with today. just done

Cagliostro · 10/10/2018 22:16

Warm jelly is damn good though.

That is amazing steg I did have a much nicer bump this time round thanks to losing weight during pregnancy but I look like a whale again now 😳

Ugh Thursday tomorrow. Whyyyyyy.

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/10/2018 23:51

That impressive plastering, bump and weightloss steg

Hills warm jelly has saved my arse so often with my rabble dd2 believe me,it's a legacy worth remembering esp in middle of the night

Cag I've had root canal.oddly enough I found it easier to cope than a filling- just takes a while longer.from what I remember (was few years back)less vibrating/noise which why I liked it better and once injections on board can't feel anything(I'm ok with injections and was lucky was a front tooth so didn't feel too invasive iyswim)

Sass congratulations on anniversary, hope DD to feeling better tomorrow

SC how are you and Dd?

Bower I felt sad your description dd. Sitting in feltless summerhouse with you.big hugs andFlowersshe will get a chance to sit in it finished, just not for a while

Foxes not sure my tired brain missed your post, hope you ok
