OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

I can’t watch shows like that I just get jealous of the massive houses :o and when people complain about things like outdated kitchens while I’m sitting there thinking bloody hell I would KILL for a kitchen like that. Although maybe I’d be slightly less jealous now I live in a nicer house 🤔😂

Sitting alone with the baby who is still snotty grotbag mcgrumpyface, play date was lovely and had a good chat with the mum, I reckon we may have the DD more often and maybe even for sleepovers (eeeeek) as they have to move out of their house possibly before new one is ready 😱

Also discussed home ed plans then they left and other friends arrived, did some English and now they’ve gone to tap, I’d normally go but they’ll walk the Caglets back as I don’t want to take baby out.

foxessocks · 09/10/2018 18:05

I love that programme too sc ! You're not on it are you?! Should I be looking out for you? Grin

Cag I know what you mean and I definitely get a bit jealous of some of the houses on there but I'm just nosy and love to see other people's houses and how other people live Grin it sometimes inspires me to tidy up too!

Cagliostro · 09/10/2018 18:17

I prefer shows like obsessive compulsive cleaners for that purpose 😳😳😳

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/10/2018 18:43

You forgot to add hoarders to that program list to make you me feel better cagGrin

Place tip.had planned get D's some ear defenders/headphones and audio books for his phone but having turned house over can't find his phone.gah.sometimes the mess/disorganisation really gets me down☹️very frustrated.dp says can't find it need cancel his contract or we just throwing money away☹️and deffo can't afford a new oneD's was bought it to text after school on way home etc but never used it aforementioned that as his school confiscate phones and he tends view u tube on Xbox so hasn't even used it I a while....

Cagliostro · 09/10/2018 18:46

Oh that’s annoying. Does he have a tablet he can listen to them on? Library may do free audiobook rentals, online or CD etc. In fact there are some called Playaways which are basically single use MP3 players with the one book on them so you just need to keep a battery for it.

Stilllivinginazoo · 09/10/2018 18:47

foxes Iif I had pound every frustrated shout I had at mine over the yearsBlushwe are only human, don't sweat it.love and cuddles and being there all the time tries us all
SC glad feeling less bleurgh.hope you follow DD pick up pace and feel better soon.rest my dear!!

I've done very little but turn house over
Tom I taking D's doctor and pack up kitchen ready new sink unit and surface fitted Thursday
Also need start a 100%turn house over hunting for that bloody phone wushes they weren't so slimline.brick old style I might have a faint glimmer of hope in locating it

Cagliostro · 09/10/2018 18:49

And yep hoarders is good, I am a former hoarder but it never got to that extreme thankfully.

Friends will be back with Caglets soon and they’re staying a bit before going to collect their older DS. So won’t do dinner yet (would have invited them to eat with us but didn’t know until this afternoon and didn’t have enough out of freezer - plus this batch of sausage stew was frankly a bit shit due to crumbly sausages so I’d be a bit ashamed to feed anyone it 😳😳😳)

I’ve really squandered this evening but the baby has been so snotty and grizzly so I can’t be too annoyed at myself really. Feel like a bit of a zombie.

And I forgot to phone NHS card people 🙄 must must must do it tomorrow morning

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 09/10/2018 20:05

Aaaagh it all went wrong after school and now the house is a mess again. Who has the pointy stick please?!

Flowers for you Bower with missing your DD. Glad you’re feeling a bit better SC. Big wing flaps to everyone else.

Spreadingcudweed · 09/10/2018 20:18

Lord I wish Foxes Grin! But sadly, even if Kirsty could redesign this wreck so that it functions (a huge challenge!), we probably would only be able to afford about 10% of the changes (tin of paint costs x 3 that of cost in UK, as does labour/TVA/insurance etc).

Hope the phone turns up Zoo (prays to St. Anthony)

Sorry you have a grumpy baby on your hands Cag take it steady and hope she feels better soon.

Dh has just returned from his business trip telling happy tales of sunny palazzos and floor to ceiling chocolate fountains the jammy b. In return I regaled him with exciting adventures of data inputting and the pairing of socks Confused

Evening all, I am getting over my cold but now DD has gone down with it. Calpol shares will be rising again! She is having uncontrollable coughing fits, poor thing!

Not much housework done tbh, straighted hall up yesterday and will do main room tonight/unload and reload dishwasher. Just cannot get myself motivated at the moment.

Still fending off a surprising number of phone calls recently, partly due to DH and his ever-increasing number of tests required (and then the results). He is away at the moment and the surgery rang today to speak to him - of course they won't tell me and I wouldn't ask them, but now I'm preoccupied wondering what the heck is wrong now!

So much to work on here, and so little motivation to do any of it Blush Prod me with the pointy stick when you find it, Stressy Grin

Spreadingcudweed · 09/10/2018 20:20

Blunt, gentle version of pointy stick for Toostressy!

Thanks SC! Once the girls are asleep I will get my arse into gear and then drink the wine!

Sass ——————————-> gentle prod as must be worrying about DH.

Spreadingcudweed · 09/10/2018 20:26

Xpost Sass so sorry you are feeling grim. Sounds like you and your DD have the same lurgy as DD and me! It's not pleasant is it? And understandable you are feeling demotivated when worried about your dh so take it steady Brew

OP posts:
Spreadingcudweed · 09/10/2018 20:31

Sorry Sass (doing too many things at once)that meant to read sorry your DD is still feeling grim, hope the cough recedes soon. Glad you are feeling a bit better!

foxessocks · 09/10/2018 21:08

sass FlowersCake

I'm so tired. I'm going to take a cup of tea up to bed and then read a bit until I fall asleep! I know the tea will probably mean I'll be awake again in a few hours but never mind.

Fingers crossed for a restful night all round!

SassitudeandSparkle · 09/10/2018 21:14

Prod me forcefully, any excuse to procrastinate Grin I wasn't doing enough even before the surgery rang!

DD has just had another coughing fit that continued until she was sick. Fun times ahead. Trying to get her to have a cough sweet, the herbal ones are just about bearable but she has declined. I am trying to point out that it's not like medicine that you can only take every so often.

Hope you get some sleep, foxes. Enjoy the Wine stressy

Spreadingcudweed · 09/10/2018 21:19

Oh no Sass your poor DD, that sounds grim. Hope you both manage to get some sleep! You too Foxes!

OP posts:
Cagliostro · 09/10/2018 21:28

Oh gosh poor thing :( so much illness around :(

Cagletini is finally falling asleep on me. She has had a 20 minute (if that) doze all day.

Cagliostro · 09/10/2018 22:07

OMG so I don’t have to make the phone call tomorrow (would’ve been tight as it was because I have to leave just after 9) because I actually remembered where my card wallet was (I keep my bank card and regularly used stuff like Boots cards in the buggy) in one of the more recent BRCs and my maternity exemption card was in there! Woohoo!

Have put baby in her bed for the first time in 3 or 4 days. I don’t expect her to last long as she keeps coughing and then grizzling herself back to sleep. But it has at least given me a few minutes to clear up a bit.

ta da
✅found card
✅bathed the baby
✅some home ed fitted in around people visiting
✅made some home ed plans with friends
✅unpacked and repacked bookcases (DH moved them)
✅got said bookcases slightly more organised for home ed stuff
✅put drying on
✅quick tidy after kids in bed
✅read to Caglets

Just realised I forgot to put bin out (supposed to get the Caglets to do it after tap but I’ve not got used to it yet - at old house it was Fridays and they got to us much later in the morning so didn’t need to remember the day before, but here they come really early on Wednesday)

Am super achy and having ovary twinges 🙄 going to fill in the home ed diary and then deal with pain in the grown up way by eating jam tarts.

Spreadingcudweed · 10/10/2018 04:45

Good morning all! Hope all the poorlies had a reasonable night's sleep!

Cags that is a great list. Glad you found your card.
zoo most frustrating savour phone DD has threatened to put a tracker on mine. Try all pockets, down sofa. That’s often wear I find mine.
Sorry to hear another one poorly 😳Sass ice lolly was good when my throat was sore.
I like the house programmes too but wish on Location they would do ordinary peoples searches. If you can’t find somewhere for £750,000 there is something wrong. I would like them to find a property for say £80,000 with three bedrooms.

Ta Da
Cleaned work top kettle area.
Dishwasher done. S&s in bathroom and cleaned loo.
Went for walk and cuppa with a friend. It was lovely here today. Warm sunshine later as well then a chilly wind. I sat in summer house...well I pretended be cause they have been to put the base down.😁
Swept floor but didn’t get it washed as DD arrived back with more stuff including a lovely little shelf for SH. She says I can have it.
Picked up her friend and then helped her prep curry. Lovely. Took friend home , bought vegan Magnums as we were on other side of town. Yum first time we have had them. Watched Bake off DD was pleased that most turned out to prove vegan food is good. That cake was never going to stay. I said it should’ve other way on as apart from being to big chocolate is denser therefore should be bottom tier. DDs friend makes Vegan cakes and they used to do food too and go to a market monthly to sell them. People started to look out for them. A good day but not as much achieved due to comings and goings of people.
Not sure why I have woken so early. I should get up but don’t think I will yet.
Hope everyone has a good day.

Bowerbird5 · 10/10/2018 05:40

Good luck at dentist Cags big achievement to go. Get yourself a little treat afterwards.

Stilllivinginazoo · 10/10/2018 06:47

Sass hills recommends cube of jelly melted in hot water and drunk warm.coats throat and works a treatbarley sugars taste nice and help me

Hope all the pipelines feeling better today

DS doctor app this morning.blitz house and box up half kitchen ready for workmen invasion tomorrow

Spreadingcudweed · 10/10/2018 07:34

You have this Zoo more power to your elbow and all of that!

I am GrinSmileGrin at the image of you sitting enjoying the base of your summer house Bower without the walls! Smile

Do the bakers on GBBO normally wander off and leave their creations on the bench like that? Felt so sorry for the bakers whose cakes toppled but if it was filmed in the heat of this summer, I'm surprised any remained standing frankly!

I was interested to learn about the chickpea juice being used to make meringue though. Who knew?
