OK so maybe not new and improved exactly... but a more slimline, concentrated version!

Huge thanks to Hills for guiding us so slickly through September Flowers Cake Brew!

Many of us have been here forever; the thread where we (loosely) follow the Flylady housekeeping system here to combat CHAOS (can't have anyone over syndrome) with a load of Wine chat and mutual support along the way. For that reason, we may seem cliquey, but we really aren't and all newcomers, lurkers, returnees and (intermittent) regulars are hugely welcome!

We are not posting links to the Flylady site on a daily basis anymore, just the daily baby step and flight plan, and the missions and zones on a weekly basis, but don't hesitate to ask questions about the system if you have any!

More information available here and from the launch pad here.

And borrowing heavily from Hills September introduction ... .

There are 4 levels for Flying:
-Baby steps - good for finding a routine in the tasks and getting over the perfection crippling effect
-Baby steps and missions - yep basic routine and more in depth tasks

  • Baby steps, missions, and deep cleaning (if you are at that stage) - can't clean clutter so don't consider this one if you need the next level
  • Flying combined with a decluttering system (kondo/unfuck etc etc) lets be honest fly lady is good for routine but not so quick with the decluttering results sometimes.

There is NO wrong or right way of doing this, it is about adapting the system to suit your life circumstances, which will be different from someone else's.

And when it all gets too much: come and take a seat by the fire in our specially adapted "naughty" corner where you can enjoy virtual Cake and Wine and tangible support from fellow fledglings.

I can’t sleep so I’m doing Japanese games on the iPad and making a vocab list of what we’ve learned so far. I had a list before but the baby ripped it up.

I should really try and sleep.

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/10/2018 00:01

Ditto cag doctor mention bullet journalling feelings for D's and I fell into the wonderful world on Pinterest in name of research.....

Bowerbird5 · 11/10/2018 04:19

And I bet you stayed there for hours zoo. Not only feltless but side and roofless just the base so far. Yesterday would have been perfect weather to have put it up too.
At 1:10 pm it was 25 C here. Then went up and down as we journeyed so between 21-23C. We went to agarden centre with a difference. Walked around the gardens after a lovely lunch of pumpkin and red pepper soup, brucetta sp? One garden is open for charity and although a lot had died off some colour and the trees were fantastic especially the maples. The oranges and reds against a bright blue sky were a sight to behold. It was a lovely afternoon out on my sister’s birthday. She is many miles away as she lives on the other side of the world but we had lovely thoughts of her. DD will visit her on her travels and show her the photos we took on her birthday. Feeling a bit teary as DD leaves today to go down south and flys out in ten days. I’ve just heard her go down for her cat as it is yowling. There will be tears as she leaves her as she is old and unlikely to be here when she comes back.

Think I will be doing lots of cleaning in the next few days.

Zoo how did the appointment go (obviously, if you don't mind relaying, no worries if not)?

Bower Flowers Flowers That's v hard re: your dd. Flowers Flowers What a lovely idea thought that she will be taking pictures of your day together to your sister. Flowers Flowers

Hope pain has eased (ovarian pain is the pits) and hope you got to sleep eventually Cag! Funnily enough dd has already asked me for a couple of work study books on Hiragana and Katakana for Christmas! (She likes to dabble!) No idea about root canal from personal experience but my sil had one recently - was dreading it - and said it was surprisingly fine! Think techniques/anaesthetics have improved a lot over recent years!

Sass a belated "happy anniversary" to you and your dh! Hope you can celebrate at the weekend when dd is fully better and your dh is back!

Meet hats off re: meal logistics and for the volunteering!

Steggy 5 stone?!! Wow! Just wow! That's fantastic! Star Care to share any tips on how you did it?

Encouraging wing flaps to Hills and to everyone else!

DD is in need of encouragement this morning. She has been going to school all week but doesn't feel at her best (going back to doc tonight after school for a blood test) and to top it all she has to give a presentation (in Fr) on Titian's Venus of Urbino today with another classmate (without notes) and as she was away last week she has ended up with all the questions about the emergence of the nude and eroticism in Renaissance art and she is feeling shy about it! She totally knows the material and I have told her to think of dhorse when she feels nervous as he has a very solid presence Smile. So I hope she will be ok.

I've argh so sorry to hear about sickness in your house it's horrible, I hope they have a very speedy recovery.

I didn't sleep well again, ds up in the night and dd woke very early coughing again. And annoyingly I keep lying awake thinking about work Hmm I don't even know why, I'm taking on an extra role next week and going to be doing some training so think I'm apprehensive about it but I don't know why I can't just think about it nearer the time. My brain is very annoying sometimes Confused

stegosauruslady · 11/10/2018 07:43

So much sickness about! Take it easy everyone.

SC My weight loss tips would be, plan ahead for meals out/occasions etc so that you can indulge without going off the rails, find some form of exercise that you love (or at least don't loathe!) and get good at it (the feeling when I could run 15 miles, burn 1500 calories then have a guilt free big mac!) and don't stress when it takes ages.

bower that sounds like a lovely afternoon! Makes me want to plan a trip to the forest to make the most of the last of the good weather!

I'm off to 'family breakfast club' at our primary school in a moment, I do not want to go, but it will make DD2 and DD3 happy.

Victory from yesterday, at DD2's asthma appointment I got my whooping cough and flu vaccines done too!

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/10/2018 07:49

I've hope it's contained, poorlys are sleeping now and no one else drops!

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/10/2018 07:58

Morning.

Anyone put the coffee pot on yet?

To do - all the things
Ta da - ....

Must get my butt into gear and drag it into work early, got a metric crap ton of stuff to do there. All the fun. Hmm

Must also finish the veg soup tonight, needs a bit more cooking to finish softening some of the veg.

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/10/2018 08:21

SC doc was lovely but not much can do as cahms(child adolescent mental health services) is specialist field.we were lucky get 6week wait time(some people wait 6months + in our area,up to years in other places but he was displaying all his technicolour"glory" she agree try chivvy them forward(not sure if poss tho) was kind and gentle with him check heart and it's perfectly ok so the feel like not beat/racing is purely anxiety related.suggested bullet journalling his feelings,a routine as much as possible and just trying to hang in there!
Got meet at school Fri as the lady who upset D's intimidating took umbridge to me saying I felt she bahaved like that(I never shouted at him.erm no love,I never said you did but your tone was cold enough to freeze iceHmm)as she feel I need to decide how to get D's in as WE'RE NOT USING WELL KNOWN TECHNIQUES THAT ARE SUITABLE TO HIM .FFS😤I am entitled to an opinion and I have my son's wellbeing as well as his education to consider, not just fricking Ofsted stats(got opinion on this hills/cag ?)
I'm expected to have the answers.she spoke to me like I was simple so I'm quite looking forward to it as I have both invite into MH and am not the idiot she's expecting so I'm hoping it will put her on a back foot and give me a chance to have my say(as I get feeling she's expecting a hot headed banshee and whilst I am both of these things negotiating in disputes I have a black belt in.ive got too many kids not to be able toGrin)

Anyways
Place resembles a house not hellhole
I've ran out BINBAGS/carriers with no holes so I can't do littertray and can't slip shop 10 houses away as they're bound appear whilst I'm not in and won't hang around...

Hope everyone's slowly getting into gear this morning

Key word - safeguarding. Make discussions about safeguarding Ds. Ofsted are very hot on safeguarding. Tends to make teachers twitchy that word. I will have a think today, but if you know how to get hold of the school's safe guarding policy it might be an interesting read that might help you if you know it's ins and outs.

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/10/2018 08:35

Will have a think and get back to you.

Spreadingcudweed · 11/10/2018 08:42

Arrgh don't know why apostrophe sneaked in to Hill's name there! (But not here Confused.) Gah!

Foxes my brain has the same tendencies - refuses to switch off at night - agree it is vv annoying!

Thanks v much for weight loss tips Steg much appreciated! I do meal plan but planning centred on underweight dd and foody dh. By the time I've sorted them, I CBA to do anything different for myself. So need to plan so that I only eat one element of dish ie fish without the chips! My self control is not good though!my As for exercise, I Inever could run but I am trying to get fitter for riding if that counts? Removing clothes hanging off exercise bike would be a start! Blush.

Zoo good luck with workmen! Hope it goes well!

Good to hear that doc was sympathetic and bumped up referral. I hope it goes well with CAHMS when the time comes. Appalling behaviour by lady at school though; she sounds v ignorant about mh issues which is totally unsatisfactory in this day and age. Hope meeting goes well tomorrow.

SC D's need fattening up,dd2 slimming down so if I do a one dish for all I add butter/cheese to his portion of veg and try give him a more calorific dessert(crumble whilst dd2 gets either more of the fruit or baked apples stuffed with a few hazelnuts and dry apricots which she loves but whilst dry fruit and nuts add calories they're "nutrient dense" and filling!

Hills as always you are a go to in a storm.will have a dig in website.cheers!

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/10/2018 08:49

Don't get me started on the UK government's new minster for prevention of suicide. Total deflection from the real problems and expense that takes funding away from actual solutions.... AngryAngryAngry Some of which DON'T COST ANYTHING!!!!

IVEgotthePOWER · 11/10/2018 08:50

I also have dealings with ofsted through work, i agree with discussing safeguarding. Hot topic there. Also i would stress how can he achieve from an educational point when he is not doing good in his person.

With younger children we look at prime (Personal, social & emotional / Physical / Communcation) and specific (maths, litetacy etc) areas of development, if they cannot achieve prime areas then specific are out of reach. Even though he is older i feel the same applies. He needs to have the basics covered first

Stilllivinginazoo · 11/10/2018 08:51

SC we are making soup with zoflora newts eyes?Confused
May hold key to curing the world of illness tho😂

HillsBesideTheSea · 11/10/2018 08:51

Like not telling our kids from starting school at a young age that they are useless because they don't pass a test to meet a government enforce criteria....
