Fledglings are awesome in August - the Flylady thread

TooStressyForMyOwnGood · 31/07/2018 19:05

Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Happy flying everyone.

Gah! And I am sitting in the courtyard in the sun; I am definitely not courting!!

About to hang up washing (late).

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/08/2018 15:11

I was going to ask more about this courting SC sounded interesting.

I am signing myself up to do stupid shit. Ignored the database, will be ignoring tomo. Its due thursday. Hmm Yeah I guess I should do some work on it later or wed. We'll see. Laptop might have to go with me tomo. but that would make me anti social and I have arrange to pop in to see some good people to drop something off. Hmm

The something being something that I need to finish making before I head out this evening for a few hours. Blush

Pain killers have helped a bit but still bad stomach and not wanting coffee which is a bad sign.

MsForestier · 21/08/2018 15:17

Well done zoo such a lovely room.

Had a weekend at a friend's house. Slept brilliantly. Came home to a major skin outbreak and cold sores - one of the school run mums has kindly asked if I'm okay. I look apocalyptic but feel mentally great.

It's definitely autumn here. Glad the cleaning has gone well for you all.

MsForestier · 21/08/2018 15:18

Hope you are feeling better hills coffee is tough on the tummy. It's acidic, I think.

foxessocks · 21/08/2018 15:54

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/08/2018 16:54

Tbh not even toast would suit my stomach atm, would seem this is a perk of being a girl stomach ache. Pain killers are mildly helping but there is a whole heap of meh going on atm. Done everything on my to do list for today apart from the database and currently working on the thing that I need for tomo. Not bad considering how i have been feeling so going to take it as a win.

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/08/2018 16:56

And that post ^^ proves how meh I am feeling. Sorry for the duplication from the earlier post. Blush

Re next month I will set the thread up late and I mean late on the last day of the month. Do NOT panic if it is not there by tea time. I am working on a kick ass title and 1st post and trying to get the tone right. It'll be there.

Bowerbird5 · 21/08/2018 17:35

Sorry to hear you are still feeling rough Hills.

Well it has arrived!
The washing machine that DH ordered. He has plumbed it in temporarily and I have done three loads. On load 4 now. Lots of technology but I seem to be getting it right so far. It even tells you how long you have left on your wash. Hmm. Must admit I think it is going to be ok. I am going to copy and laminate the instructions and put them inside the door when it gets intergrated.the kitchen plans have come back at almost the same price as last year despite the very expensive worktop. We've always had Formica up till now however what we have chosen is beautiful. Friends got theirs cheaper so I will check that out first before I decide.they have even offered me to go cook on the AGA in the showroom. They are really lovely people.
So ta Das today.
Wash up.
Shine the sink.
Washer arrived and fourth load in.
Decluttered notice board DD did fridge, nothing on it now. It looks naked!
Partly written an objection to council.
Phoned clerk to parish due to above.
Did some of the jigsaw( declutter...checking pieces are all there😁) Itbis of Lindisfarne which is a bit spooky.
Took DH to train.
Took DD and cat to vet re claws and wormer. Then to farm feeds to get chicken feed and cat food.
Retrieved washing and hung out next load.
Off for shower then back to town to see GP.
Might pop back later.

x posts Bower (waves)

Cagliostro · 21/08/2018 18:04

Zoo it looks amazing!!! Bloody well done. I may have welled up a bit reading about their reaction!

Knackered and achy calves (as in legs, I haven't suddenly become a vet). Popped down to town for a largely unsuccessful homewares shopping trip.

foxessocks · 21/08/2018 20:32

Ta da
Swish and swipe bathroom
Change dc bedsheets- sort of, realised dd only other sheet was in the wash so had to give her a sleeping bag tonight Blush
Empty nappy bin
Put washing on
Cooked dinner - pork casserole , mash
Online food shop for next week

To do
Calendar check

Not quite finished list but it was a bit tricky with two tired grumpy dc and dh late home tonight too.

SassitudeandSparkle · 21/08/2018 22:52

Zoo that's utterly fabulous! You clever girl!

Makes me realise how overstuffed my own DD's room is. Especially as I am in it tonight, she was ill earlier today and is sleeping in my bed tonight. She seems a lot better but we'll stay in tomorrow just in case.

Foxes, we've ended up with a sleeping bag after a bad night with DD, she has an uncanny knack of being able to get up and come into our room and bed when nauseous. One night we had to resort to a sleeping bag after the duvet took a hit (as did the sheets and blankets we put on after the first hit). Even today, she was in our bed but she's now old enough to know when she needs a bowl!

Bowerbird5 · 21/08/2018 23:28

Been for acupuncture. GP very chirpy after his holiday. DD suggested we went for something to eat afterwards. Went to an Italian and had a delicious meal from the vegan/ dairy free menu. DD was in heaven as she could chose. Had aubergine balls then a bake thing that was delicious I had a pizza with vegan cheese. We couldn't fit pudding so asked if we could take it home. We've just eaten it, tea, then bed.

Into town again tomorrow for eye test. Have done another load of sheets tonight and some in the machine ready to go.

Cagliostro · 22/08/2018 00:19

My biggest achievement today is that I have discovered that the thorntons rhubarb and custard chocolate is fucking amazing.

Just going to bed now thanks to three non sleeping children. I'm sharing with a nearly 9yo starfish (he is splayed out in a way that cannot be human) and his cuddly Mike Wazowski.

BTW zoo my DS mentioned the same idea of a desk that folds down from the wall. Have you seen them anywhere? It would be ideal in theory!

foxessocks · 22/08/2018 07:17

Hope your dd ok sass
Meal sounds lovely bower
Cag cuddly Mike wazowski* made me smile. Dd is scared of that film for some reason!

So I'm stressed out again at my body and more precisely my period doing weird things again ConfusedConfused sorry TMI but I jeeot having mid cycle bleeds and this has never happened in my life before. Gp told me to come back if it continues happening and it has happened again . Plus I had a smear test ten weeks ago and no results yet Angry they said there would be a delay but now I'm quite anxious about the results and would really like to know!!

Think I need to wait for this whole cycle to finish before I go back to GP anyway as they will want all the info I guess. It's just so hard wondering what's going on and googling is never a good thing is it!!

To do
Swish and swipe downstairs loo
Mop kitchen
Decluttering
Get dishwasher on
Hang washing up / more washing on

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/08/2018 11:51

Go back to the GP stressy don't wait til the end of the cycle. You are stressed about it, it is not right. But it might be a simple thing. I never had mid cycle bleeds til a few years ago, now they are the normal and they have investigate and they can only find a fibroid in the womb which is causing it. No treatment just mildly annoying.

My cycle is currently up the spout. Mostly because I have forgotted the sodding pill and sorts out the mid cycle pain, waiting for the beginning of cycle to get it back into my system properly. Also have been told will have early menopaus so no idea if that is playing a part atm either. Hmm at least I have woken up with less pain today. Over slept massively but no pain atm. Hmm

HillsBesideTheSea · 22/08/2018 11:52

Bollocks that was meant for Foxes not stressy. the brain it is no awakes

foxessocks · 22/08/2018 11:59

Thanks hills it seems to have turned into full blown period now just much earlier than I expected but then I guess that depends if I count from last month's weird period or last month's actual period HmmConfused it's very confusing! Basically I could be on day 18 or day 25 . Obviously if day 25 then that could be a normal cycle albeit a few days earlier than usual.

foxessocks · 22/08/2018 12:00

Ta da
Dishwasher on
Washing hung up
Washing on

Spreadingcudweed · 22/08/2018 12:08

Good you are in less pain today Hills!

Hope skin probs improving MsForestier (holiday sounds lovely) and that you dd is feeling better today Sass (and no one else in the household has succumbed!)

Hope your GP will be able to give you some answers Foxes gynae issues are the pits!

Wing flaps to everyone else.

In middle of mahoosive tree branch moving operation here.

RL starting to intrude in to rural idyll: DD studying, DH at desk working, I am getting e-mails from school and office. Oh well, it was lovely while it lasted!

Stilllivinginazoo · 22/08/2018 13:35

Hi all
Yesterday I managed get in a tip run(old knackered units broken up) and 10 binbags of junk!!
Plus shipping and a trip to the park

Today's tadas
Started rejig front room
Took some dvds to cex
4bags to the chazza

  • fix draining board that's never drained just pooled
-mend undersink unit --hopefully get new kitchen surface -fix front door again,it's dropped and sticking again!!
