Welcome to the August Flylady thread. This is a lovely friendly thread where we loosely follow the Flylady system (see the Flylady website ) in the hope of having organised homes and lives.

This is the August thread so I am reliably informed that it is usually more of a general chat thread. Links won’t be posted by an official ‘thread leader’ every day but I will leave some links in this OP. Please do familiarise yourself with the Flylady website, especially if you are new. The Flylady is (understandably) keen that people do look at the website.

On the website there is information for beginners. You can also sign up to the Flylady emails but we would advise caution as there are hundreds of them.

We post our achievements (ta das) and our to do lists and any other general chatter about life / flying.

Information on getting started: www.flylady.net/d/getting-started/

The launch pad is also a good starting place:www.flylady.net/c/lp.php

Fly stands for Finally Loving Yourself. The general idea is that short bursts of tidying / organisation are more achievable than marathon efforts. Flylady advises 15 minute bursts is effort but you can tweak this to fit your own circumstances.

Be kind to yourselves, jump in where you are and be careful not to crash and burn!

A daily summary (which should update automatically every day) is available on the Flylady website at flight plan here.

The link to the current zone and missions is [[http://www.flylady.net/c/sp.php#missions here].

Re. zones, do what works for you. I don’t always stick to the zones myself and do what works best at the time, with varying degrees of success!

Happy flying everyone.

Painted blanket box(2coats)
Cleaned a dry up furballs from under lil zoo bed
Built third shelving unit

Painted giraffe pattern onto said blanket box(box lilac and pattern white in keeping with room-which houses lil zoo uncontrollable impressive selection soft toy giraffes (or rarfys as they're known here as a toddler expression that stuck!)

Dd1 and fiance returned and built desk, put up more shelving, girls artwork and a clock whilst I gutted cupboard understairs removing mildew from floor, skirts and a selection plastic crates of playmobil and tackling extensive amount silverfish
Fiance couldn't remove old shelving as brackets had rusted and he had to leave fairly promptly to fix someone's car,so new units just got placed in front.
He then put on new lav seat(OCD thing I can't do) and they trundled off at 430(having started again at 130)
445 I got "the text" on way home.eeeek

String white butterfly lights around white iron bed frames
Make beds
Sweep floor

Lob games into new units understairs
All my cookery books taken up to bookcase(taken from corner where desk was built and put on top chest drawers in my room adding storage)
All my books taken off floor/bed and onto shelves
All beds remade with freshly washed bedding
Swept living room floor ,gathering up stray detritus(scissors, screwdrivers etc) and put away.i finished with 5minutes to spare and was exhausted(got back around7 and I hadn't eaten since the banana and cheese sandwich night before was so busy!!)

Anyhoo I ran out at sight of car and they all threw selves at me in huge hugs(D's barreled at me and nearly rugby tackled me to floor,he keeps forgetting at 12 he's getting tallerGrin
I took girls up one at a time(dd2 first) I went in and video their response as opened door!I warned them not complete-living wanted white and lilac gingham curtains and lilac and white bedding(need get fabric for that- currently have white with butterflies so still looks nice) and so they weren't expecting much their faces were classic.lil zoo screamed.dd2 swore extensively and did a funny jig that cracked me up!!
After D's and do came to look and he was very shocked by transformation
I was then regaled adventures, shown pics and gifts from various places seen and then wash all hair/supervise baths and fed them all before they went up at 10...dd2 sat at her desk gabbling twenty to the dozen how much she loves it and needed text everyone tom (wasn't allowed take her phone away with her) her excited face and sight lil zoo curled up asleep under twinkling butterfly lights bought tears to my eyes

I have photos of room anyone interested in a peek!

Bowerbird5 · 21/08/2018 07:42

Oh Zoo it looks amazing. Really pretty. I love your idea for bedding box.

Although you have missed them like crazy think about this: you have managed to get loads done and made a big change for them before they go back to school. They have had some great days out but have obviously missed you. You will all appreciate each other more because absense makes the heart grow fonder and they love what you have done for them.win, win I say!

By the way the butterfly duvet and curtains look lovely.
Right must get up loads to catch up on. Starting with the kitchen as washing machine getting delivered between 11-2pm. DH goes back to work today.

Stilllivinginazoo · 21/08/2018 07:51

Thanks guys.i was terrified they wouldn't like it.i grilled them extensively for particula criteria-lil zoo desperately wanted display her ponies,dd1 her study area .lil zoo bit jealous of the desk area.we may toy idea a fold down table on wall left side end of bed and she can sit on her rarfy box...we shall see!!

Cat food bought along milk, crumpets, eggs, fruit and yogurt.plus binbags for tip run
Time start clear up front room and prep some scrambled eggs for a welcome home breakfast feast(eggs, crumpets, strawberries and grapes and yogurt😁)

Givemeallyourcucumber · 21/08/2018 07:56

Sorry for low contact. I have shined my sink to perfection every night for over a week. And layed the breakfast table before bed too. The DCs love it. It's a start. I need to start properly when school starts.

Anyway. I am away with DCs at the moment. DH at home.

Zoo that looks lovely. What a special room. I love fairy lights too. What lucky girls. I am sure they are more than appreciative of what you have done for them.

I can't wait to properly get stuck in with you all. I just need to get through all these bugs the kids have caught and get them back to school!

foxessocks · 21/08/2018 07:59

Wow zoo their room looks so lovely!!! Well done! What a lovely mum you are!

The dc are still asleep here, think a day with grandma yesterday wore them out.

Sc we bought a Christmas present online last nightShock we were meant to be getting ds birthday presents but spotted a cuddly unicorn on special offer and dd is unicorn crazy at the moment (I hope she still will be done December!!)

We did get all ds presents ordered too so that was good. Also have started organising a small birthday tea for him, just inviting family.

HillsBesideTheSea · 21/08/2018 07:59

Looks really lovely zoo !!!!!!

Did not sleep well last night. woke up with a start this morning. I am sore and tired. Crap ton of stuff that needs to be done today. Soooo much to do it is ridiculous. don't want to do any of it. I have tummy ache but I suspect that is because I have been skipping meals and not eating the usual amount of junk overeating Not feeling hungry atm Hmm Also muscle spasms have been really bad again. DOMS really don't love them.

to do
epsom salt bath
fish shop
pop into town to run errands and 5 mins couple of hours at work
Tackle the database of helll .... Hmm
something useful like laundry...

IVEgotthePOWER · 21/08/2018 08:01

foxes we just do a low key family tea for birthdays when small too, what is ds having for his birthday? I have started to look for our ds3 but struggling tbh

foxessocks · 21/08/2018 09:34

ive we have got him an aquadoodle, a car mat with toy cars , a cuddly owl, pyjamas with trucks on, a toy JCB and a diggers sticker book. Dd wants to buy him a boy doll to go with her girl doll with its own pushchair! If I can find one quite cheap I'll let her get it she loves to choose presents 🎁

It is hard isn't it when they've got loads of toys in the house belonging to older siblings!! My dd had a bigger party when she was two because she had lots of toddler group friends. Ds isn't quite as sociable! He'll be happy with cake and running around in the garden tbh Grin

Spreadingcudweed · 21/08/2018 10:04

Wow, wow, wow Foxes they look amazing! Well done for getting them both finished!! Really love the butterfly theme and the fairy lights! And spotted the "giraffe" blanket box; very clever!!

Foxes I bought DD one of those car mats when she was small (shed inherited her uncle's toy car collection) and she played with it endlessly! A really successful present! Sounds as though your ds is going to have a lovely birthday! I must admit I had another quick rumination about office Christmas presents last night. Done wine, CDs, smellies, mugs, stationery, Christmas puddings, jams etc, this year I think it is going to be back to wine again!

Welcome back Sass and Cucumber!

Wing flaps to all!

foxessocks · 21/08/2018 10:12

sc wish I could take credit for the beautiful redecorating of rooms but I assume you mean zoo !! GrinGrin

That's good to know re car mat, I had one as a child too and loved it. Funnily enough he already has a toot toot garage with the big chunky insanely annoying cars which we got him for his first birthday but he doesn't play with it much. I wonder if going back to basics a bit would be better! We picked it up in Wilko for about £8 including some cars so pretty happy with that!

Wine is always a most welcome present I feel! WineWine

I always feel guilty about ds as he never gets quite as much fuss as dd , especially at the moment with her about to start school. On his actual birthday dh has the day off but dd has a school thing so we won't even be totally focused on him on the day Sad poor ds! I hope he knows we really do love them both exactly the same. I never want him to feel second place as he grows up. It's just circumstances at the moment I think. Anyway I've enrolled him in this cookery toddler group thing which I'm really looking forward to and that's just for me and him 😍

IVEgotthePOWER · 21/08/2018 12:00

Ds3 loves the toot toot cars and garage. Unfortunately he tends to throw the cars at people when he is cross. They bloody hurt. Angry

Ta da

Top up shop
Washing on line
Breakfast cleared away
Made childcare enquiry
Worked out average childcare costs 😭

Spreadingcudweed · 21/08/2018 12:50

Yes, sorry, that first para was of course intended for Zoo! The photos and finished effect are amazing! Glitterball.

Always typing fast without checking because scared weedy signal will disappear before I post! Doesn't help that I am usually doing three others things while typing! And posts keep disappearing! And I have menopausal brain.

Ditto Hills I slept really badly last night and still have stomach ache too. Hope you feel better as day goes on.

DD is hors de combat still, so riding is off the schedule today. Sitting in courting with furry in the sun doing not a lot currently. (Furry seems to have recovered from his dodgy stomach too thank heavens.)

I've and Foxes I bought one of those mats with roads on for DD when she was small (she'd inherited her uncle's old toy car collection) and she absolutely loved it! It was one of our "most played with" toys. The cars all had personalities and got put to bed at night under tiny blankets (bits of felt) mind you, which is slightly different to how my godsons played with it!

[Proffers fortifying Brew and Cake to I've to aid accounting. ]

Spreadingcudweed · 21/08/2018 12:52

Oh dear menopausal brain strikes again now I am repeating myself!

So sorry.

I give up! Confused
